September Event Log

September Event
Dominant Element: Wind
Waning Element: Earth

It's autumn at long last. The summer heat finally ebbs away with cooler temperatures, with the first trees starting to change to bright hues of autumn colors. These cooler temperatures are made even more noticeable by the constant wind that blows throughout the month. Windy days are something of a regular this month. Be prepared for gusts of wind to blow things away that aren't weighed down. The town itself is getting decked out for the season change. Halloween costume shops are starting to open up in empty buildings, and just about every location has some variant of pumpkin spice.

Back to School

With the arrival of fall comes the new school year. Starting September 1st, classes begin at all the schools across the city. Whether you're in elementary, middle school, high school, or at the university - it's time to start the term off on the right foot! The halls and classes are abuzz with students reuniting and talking about what they did during the summer. As expected, most of the students don't seem to remember that dinosaurs walked the earth last month - instead treating those events as bad storms or gas leaks. But there's only so much time to dwell on that, as you're likely more busy with trying to find all your classes and getting a good spot in the cafeteria at lunch.

For those kids who somehow aren't getting enough schooling and wants more, Kaisou High will be holding their annual Spelling Bee competition halfway through the month! Students will go against kids their own age and grade level and asked to spell difficult words appropriate for their age in front of an audience that are abnormally engaged spectators. The spelling bee also has tournaments for elementary, middle school, and college too, so it's open for all ages! There's nothing truly noteworthy about winning the Spelling Bee - just a ribbon, a coupon for a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut, and an English teacher praising their accomplishments -- but sadly, we know for some of you this is more than enough of a prize, so best review how to spell "vicissitudes" just in case.

If you're an adult, or just looking for some education that covers topics not normally found at traditional school, the Enki Education center is launching their fall classes! You can enroll in these classes to learn more about magic, the Spirit Realm, and other related topics. The Enki Education Center is also proud to have their first puppet teacher! The Professor will be passionately teaching about various events in history, both the mundane and the paranormal. Professor Willow will also be continuing his lessons surrounding magical creatures and pokemon alike.

Up in the Air

With the winds being so strong this month, some have responded by doing some more daring hobbies. Throughout the month, a group is offering hang gliding lessons. This group has situated themselves up atop of Moghome, the floating island above the Kami State Park. They are trained professionals, and be happy to give anyone the ropes. Another group on the same island has also set up bungee jumping for anyone willing to take the plunge. Those those who are more physical minded than academic minded, this might be a great way to blow off some steam. You might want to be careful though, the moogles who live in Moghome might try to pull pranks on you, or at least try to get you to do work for them. They really are lazy and annoying guys.

Taking the train out to Stardew Valley you'll find the season has changed there as well. The trees are in full bright autumn colors and there's fall decorations such as jack-o-lanterns, haybales and scarecrows. It's almost an idyllic fall town, really. Pierre's shop is selling seeds for the autumn - pumpkins, cranberries, corn, yams and the like. If you head to the beach, while it's a bit too cold to swim, you might catch sight of a mermaid if you're patient. Fortunately, these guys are much more friendly than their siren cousins you met in July. While some will swim away at the sight of a human, some will come and chat.

If you want to be more productive and in ways that don't just benefit moogles, there's still clean up to be done from last month's disaster. Buildings that need to be repaired, streets repaved, debris to be picked up. It's a good way to get some volunteer hours in and help out your neighborhood. Every bit helps with getting the city back to normal.

Lost to the Muses

It'll happen with little fanfare. One morning in early September, characters with a creative streak will be struck with inspiration. Inspiration stronger and clearer than any inspiration strikes they've had before. Artists will paint or draw better than they have before, Musicians will think up a song destined to make the charts, cooks will develop new recipes, writers might actually write something-- the rush of inspiration and creative is truly miraculous.

However, there's a danger to this swell of miraculous inspiration. As characters indulge in this inspiration, they will find themselves forgetting other things. At first it'll be mild things, such as forgetting to eat dinner or the other tasks you had to do for the day. Things that are normal to forget when you're in the midst of the creative process, right? However if you keep going, the memory loss will grow more severe. You'll forget details about your life, or the names and faces of the people you know. And in truly worst case scenarios, the ones that truly can't pull themselves away, will find that they can't remember anything but the creative work they're working on. Just how much of yourself are you willing to give up in pursuit of creation?

The Muses

Within a week, it'll become pretty clear that something is amiss. And to confirm as such, on September 9th, Zodiac will send a message through the app.

ALERT: SHIFTING GATE LOCATED IN UNIVERSITY DISTRICT.
Element Classification: Wind
Danger Level: Low
Designation: The Great Library of Alexandria
A new gate has been detected in the University district. We have reason to believe it's the Great Library of Alexandria, the realm of knowledge. We also believe it's connected to the incidents of memory loss, and should be investigated further. Anyone who goes to the library must bring a piece of knowledge to donate.

Visiting the Zodiac Office, visitors will notice that Professor Willow isn't here for once. According to the Zodiac member, he and the other members of POKEGO have already gone off to see the realm themselves- as of course professors can't resist the draw of knowledge.

When asked about the realm, the Zodiac member will explain that it was a library that once existed on Earth in ancient times built in honor of the Muses, nine sister goddesses that together are the gods of creativity, literature, science, and the arts. However it was famously set ablaze and in order to save it, the Muses recreated it in the Spirit Realm. The Zodiac member is confident that there should be relative little danger about visiting the library provided you make sure to follow the rules of the library. However, they do caution to avoid requesting inspiration from the Muses, and you should definitely not try to challenge their skills.

To find the gate, one simply has to head out to Kaisou University's main campus. Among all the class buildings and libraries, there's a new building front that seems to have appeared. White columns and stone stairs are hardly unusual among a college campus so it might be easy to overlook, except that the entryway is glowing with an bright energy. No doubt about it, this is the gate.

The Great Library of Alexandria

Stepping through the gate, characters will find themselves in a grand marble hall that would put most to shame. Around the hall are statues of the nine muses, posing in different fashions with objects associated with each one. There are signs with the rules of the library. Even though it's written in Ancient Greek, you find yourself able to read what it says like it was perfect English:

I. Take nothing out of the Great Library, leave it all as you found it.
II. Damage nothing in these halls.
III. To obtain knowledge, you must share knowledge.

In the center of the hall is a pedestal that stands four feet tall. It is here that you place the knowledge that you've brought to share. Books, movies, comics, art pieces, fact sheets, personal notes - anything that could technically be considered either knowledge or art are accepted. Once you place your item on the pedestal, it will disappear and a bracelet made of olive tree wood will appear around their wrist. This is their proof that they are allowed entrance into the rest of the library. Anyone who tries to go into the halls without donating a piece of knowledge will find the entryways into the other wings magically blocked.

Once the admission fee has been paid, it's off to explore the rest of the library! There are several wings to explore, each of them chock full of knowledge. A person could easily spend a lifetime in a single wing and not see everything there is to offer. Even though it offers works written and created in countless languages, you'll find yourself able to understand all of them as if they were written in your native language. That said, any cameras will not work while within the hall, so if you want to remember the things you read- you'll have to take notes. Any character with fire magic will find their fire powers do not work while in this realm either - the library has a bad history with fire okay.

The wings are as followed:

The Literature Wing

This wing is devoted entirely to any work of literature that's ever been written. Novels, poems, short stories, comics, fables - anything that counts as a story would be found within this wing. There's even a section devoted to fanfictions throughout the ages, if that's what you're really about. There are braille and audiobooks with headphones, for those who get their reading through that way. Throughout the wing, there are comfortable chairs and window seats to sit in. The wing is managed by a legion of cats, who are clever enough to understand human language. They will carry books to and from their shelves, bring book recommendations, bring snacks and drinks as refreshments on a little push cart, or just curl up on your lap as you read.

The Knowledge Wing

Next to the Literature Wing, the Knowledge wing contains any non-fiction texts or documents that have ever been written. Any topic of non-fiction is covered here: history, science, mathematics, cookbooks - the list goes on. Interestingly, there are more than just books about this Earth found in these halls. It's possible to find textbooks detailing events or information about other worlds as well - so long as it covers events already taken place (meaning before any OU's canon point). Unlike the literature wing, the seating are set up more as study tables and chairs, but are still comfortable enough to sit in for hours on end. This wing is managed by a bunch of owls, who will fly up and down the aisles with books in their talons. You might happen across the Professor or Professor Willow in this wing of the library, surrounded with books of their preferred subject and rambling on to anyone who will listen.

The Music Wing

A wing designed to have perfect acoustics no matter where you go within the hall. Here you can find every music piece ever composed as well as any type of instrument ever created. There's plenty of practice rooms for any size group (all of which are soundproofed). In the back of the wing, there is a concert hall where you can either perform your own shows, or watch astral recordings of any concert that's ever taken place. Want to see Beethoven perform his famous 9th symphony? You can do that! All the musicians past will appear as ghostly apparitions as they perform. Songbirds are the maintainer of these halls, who will fly by on errands or maybe even stop by to sing along with your performances.

The Theatre Wing

Next to the music wing, there is the theater wing. This area has play stages and movie theaters all set up. You can either watch any movie or show in existence (no worries about streaming rights here!), or rewatch any theater performance that's happened in history in the form of ghostly visages's. Find out how Hamlet was performed when Shakespeare was still alive, or see the first greek tragedy. Mice and Rats are the maintainers of this wing, they will help out pick out movies and also run a concession stand with any movie snacks you'd like to consume during the show.

Of course, not all shows are ones that we passively spectate. Besides the theaters, there is a room devoted to be a fighting simulator. Take any kind of weapon you'd like and choose to fight spectual foes from history and legend. Trade blows with the greatest samurai or battle a beast of legend. While it feels real, no actual injuries will come from these fights. And for those who prefer their battles to take place in the digital plane, there is a relatively newly added room with all the video games you could possibly want.

The Planetarium Wing

The planetarium is the wing devoted to astronomy and the heavens. While there's plenty of shelves of books here with information about space, the main event in this hall is a planetarium. A massive dome that can be set to display the night sky as it appeared at any time or day- and not just on Earth either. You can find out what the sky looks like on any number of worlds. All of them feel hyper-realistic, like you're looking at the real night sky. Bats help run this part of the library, the dark starry skies doing nothing to hinder their assistance with visitors.

The Museum Wing

The museum wing covers all artifacts that relate to knowledge but wouldn't quite fit in the other wings. Dinosaur fossils, vases, paintings, tapestries, all of them are carefully displayed with information about each item. These items have been collected across different worlds and throughout history, with all of them carefully preserved. One room of the museum is devoted to divine donations - donations given by deities when they came once came to visit and clearly the shining gem of the museum. Items such a Dharma Wheel, an apple from the Tree of Knowledge, an actual eye (thanks Odin), and other items relating to knowledge have all been carefully put on pedestals. While trying to steal from the other wings will have magic measures that simply prevent you from doing so, the consequences of trying to steal from this part of the library will lead to much more dire consequences. To reflect that, this wing are patrolled by crocodiles who will guide you to exhibits, but will also snap their jaws anytime they feel you're getting too close to an artifact.

The Mess Hall

With so much to see in this library, it'd be a shame if hunger got in the way. Just head down into the basement, where an expansive dining hall and kitchen await you. The goats that run this part of the library will be happy to cook you up any kind of meal that has ever existed. Or if you're the type to want to cook for yourself, you'll have free access to the kitchen which is full of any ingredients you could possibly want. The walls are lined with cooking tools and cookbooks to help you along as well. Cooking is a form of art, after all.

The Records Wing

The final wing contains records of every person who has ever lived and died. Each person's life is recorded in a hardcover book that is decorated in ways to reflect the person. The length of a book will depend on how long the person has lived, and it will cover events that happened throughout their lives. While you can access records of people that live in different worlds, you can only access records of people who have died (the permanent kind). Not only that, but the keepers of this wing (ghostly apparitions of scholars) will only allow you access to the records of people that are part of your family or somehow related to you.

Hauntingly, AU characters will be able to find books of their past selves among these shelves, as well as the records of their past selves relatives. It will detail their lives in their previous worlds, the events described lining up with memories you've experienced. The causes of death will vary. Some will go on to live long lives before dying of old age, while others will be killed abruptly by something either within or out of their control. But if these books say anything: it's that these memories you've been getting? They're coming from a past life.

Meeting the Muses

While the animal and apparitions do most of the running of the library, the true masters of this place are the Muses. Spend enough time in the library, and you may have a chance to come across any one of the nine sisters. While they are gracious hosts, they carry themselves with a pride that feels dangerous to step on. When asked about the memory loss suffered by some characters, they will explain that them or their sister simply wanted to give them the gift of inspiration and the memory loss is an unfortunate side effect mortals sometimes suffer from their divine gift. However, the damage isn't permanent! All one must do to return their forgotten memories is destroy anything they created while they were under that divine inspriation, and the Muses will return their memories. Doing just that will return their memories as promised, though some might find that their memories have been altered some - as if the Muses were inspired to tweak your past.

That said, the Muses really do love sharing inspiration, so anyone who is tempted to gain their divine inspiration may be offered to do just that. If you take the offer, the muses will draw upong your character's past and your character will gain a free regain that's worth up to 4 points - but in exchange they will permanently lose a memory of equal value (so if it's a 1 point regain, a small memory would be sufficient, meanwhile a four point regain might make them forget their most important person). Just how much are you willing to give up in order to gain?

Overall, the Muses will be happy to have the characters enjoying their library. That said, the Muses take great pride that they are the greatest at the arts and creation. Should you try to challenge them at their craft, expect them to not hold anything back. And whether you win or lose, they will be angry enough at your audacity that you might wind up cursed. So maybe be careful with these ladies.

Aftermath

With memories returned (or taken), the Great library will be available for the rest of the month. Take your time exploring and enjoy this great marvel. Zodiac will be willing to pay anyone who is willing to take notes on their findings in the library, as well as any notes copied from books they think will benefit them. Characters that attempt to take anything out of the library will find themselves unable to leave until they return the item, and anyone who causes damage to the library will find themselves removed from the library and forbidden to return. But all and all, it's shaping up to be a peaceful month.

You should probably enjoy it while it lasts.

OOC Notes

The dominant element this month is Wind! Anyone with an affinity to the wind element will find themselves boosted throughout the month. This could mean a boost to their power, having more energy, feeling more inspired with creativity, having better luck on different attempts -- the boost can manifest in all sorts of different ways. By contrast, anyone with an affinity for Earth will be experiencing the opposite. Perhaps their powers will be weaker, they have less energy, they're having a creative block or general worse luck - again it can manifest in all sorts of way and players are free to play with this mechanic as they'd like.

Players can use this event to modify their AU histories if they so desire! If you decide to change AU histories, please comment with the changes here so the mod team is aware! As for people willing to take up the deal for losing memories in exchange for a regain, please comment detailing what memories you intend to lose.

The original OOC plotting post for this event can be found here. Another Zodiac Post will be going up September 15th to serve as an intro post for new characters and allow characters to react to developments over the network.

[i; i will always find you]

[Introducing himself as 'just Professor--and no, not the goddamned puppet', the new chemistry teacher at the local college was...eccentric. Dark sunglasses perched on his head, ponytail long enough to end halfway down his back, and a demeanor that bordered on comically irreverent even as he lectured with complete seriousness and an obvious knowledge of the subject matter. On occasion, about halfway through the class he'd end up sitting on the edge of his own desk rather than continue leaning on the cane in his hand, doing so without even missing a beat in whatever sentence he was on. He made a point to outline exactly when his office hours were and advised anyone in need of further assistance to utilize them, with a tone that was usually reserved for things ending in 'or else'.]

[Honestly, he was pretty happy to be teaching again even if it wasn't his usual classroom.]

[ii; like it's written in the stars]

[To say he was interested in the library would have been an understatement--Waver was an academic at heart, after all, and it was the fabled Library of Alexandria. (In a cosmic sort of irony, had he known the fourth war's Rider, he might have fainted on the spot.)]

[As it was, the professor felt only a normal amount of fascination and excitement at the sight, wandering the shelves with the telltale clicking of a cane against the floor. Not a hard person to track down, if one wanted to find him. But eventually, Waver could be found in the Literature Wing: sitting at a table with his head on one hand, the other paging through the leatherbound tome laid out in front of him. Sunglasses perched on his head, green eyes scanned the pages in complete concentration.]

[They came to land forthwith, and enquired of him tidings of Diarmuid ua Duibhne.
"I saw him not long ago," said Diarmuid.
"Then show us where he is," said they, “that we may take his head before Fionn mac Cumhaill."
"I should be keeping him but ill," said Diarmuid, "if I did as you say; for the body and the life of Diarmuid are under the protection of my prowess and of my valor, and therefore I will do him no treachery."
]

[Waver let out a quiet snort of laughter, small smile crossing his face.]

...Smartass.

[Turning the page, he continued; fully off in another world and lost in his own head.]

[And as he thus spoke, he drew the sword Moralltach from its sheath-]

[iii; we can run but we can't hide]

[Later on (and much less out in the open), Waver had begun searching through the more specific literature in the Records Wing. Archisorte, Einzbern, Hisau, Shishigou--none of them were here that he could find, and that was a relief. After all, for there to be a complete record, one would have to be dead. That was reassurance enough that no one had met with some terrible cataclysm in his absence. Yet.]

[But that did leave a name or two that drew a morbid curiosity to wander. Looking somewhere between where Einzbern and Escardos blessedly weren't present, he picked up one file with a critical look--narrowed eyes glaring at the label Kayneth Archibald El-Melloi. Retreating to a nearby chair, he flipped through the pages and glanced over the information written within.]

[-in February of 1994, entered the Fourth Holy Grail War in Fuyuki City, Japan alongside his then-fiancee--]

[Scanning over a few paragraphs, he paged through to the end.]

[This endeavor ended in failure, his Servant Berserker defeated in a single strike. Following that loss, Lord El-Melloi was killed by--]

[Waver closed the file and pressed his hand to a face having gone pale, with a short and bitter laugh. There were two or three pages left; no doubt a brief overview of the mess left behind by someone who had foolishly not once accounted for failure.]

Didn't quite turn out how he'd planned, did it? [Leaning back in his chair and folding his right leg over the left, Waver idly toyed with the chain of a pendant mostly hidden under his collar.] Guess nothing ever does.

[x; wildcard]

[i'm open to anything else!]

A. Back To School [Open to potential classmates for Luz]

So funny thing. Luz had, at first, been dreading the idea of school. A fact that Eda happily exploited, allowing Luz to do more chores leading up to when it was finally going to happen. Sure, Luz had gone and grabbed the necessary school supplies needed and all, but she was still a little cautious about what would happen. This was, after all, the first time she'd be headed off to a regular school, so she had to hope that it would be a bit better than what she knew back home.

But she needn't have worried! Luz found in her classes were several people she already knew, and she was already setting up study sessions when she could! Even better, the Enki education classes were a thing, and she was already learning about some interesting information involving the supernatural! True, it was a bit strange that they only went by the moniker "The Professor," he seemed to be a blue puppet-like creature and he would sometimes go on random rants about an interdimensional genie trapping him in a horrifying situation the likes of which he was lucky to survive, but! That was the kind of strangeness Luz had learned to accept in the Boiling Isles, so it was a bit like being home!

If you catch her in any class, regular or Enki related, feel free to come up to her during/after class, as she's likely sporting a smile on her face and is looking happier than usual (other than when she's thinking of a certain purple headed goddess, thank you very much)!

B. Lost to the Muses [Open to all, but obviously very much Eda/Hunter/Amity

She was doing so well! Luz really had a great week and tried to help those she could that were struggling! But Luz had her own sways and was a girl of the humanities: there was one hobby that Luz had put to the side while she was in Kaisou, and that was her painting. One day Luz popped up into art class and started to paint, and then minutes became hours, hours became a day or two, and suddenly Luz was no longer at Eda's or with Amity or even in her classes: she was staunchly painting, stopping only to nap in odd areas around campus to avoid passing out from paint fumes, but a few hours later back again, hard at work with her art.

There were several things she painted that were innocent enough: scenes from Boiling Isles, like her first discovering Light magic, or the day Hooty somehow managed to push her and Amity together enough that they confessed their feelings and were dating! But some pictures were more sinister, like some from bad memories that were fairly blurry and one that was more abstract and visually strange, but more vivid.

The messed up thing? Ask Luz what they were, or why she'd missed classes and she would only stare blankly, then scoff and insist this is what she was supposed to be working on.

C. La Biblioteca [OTA]

So much for starting off on the right foot! Thanks to that creative excursion, Luz is now having to make up all the work she's lost, and so she'd pretty much decided that she was, with an adult supervising, pop into the Great Library to not only catch up on all that she's lost but also do some extra work. Now, Luz eventually DOES accomplish this, but finds that there's more than just homework to be concerned about when she steps into the Great Library. There were literal mountains of information here to be gathered, texts to be poured over, things that she absolutely needed to know!

So she pays the fee (her artbook sob) and proceeds in, anxious to get to work!

So where might you find Luz, if you so happened to pop in here?

In the Planetarium Wing Luz was finding information she absolutely knew that Varian would be dying to know about but wouldn't be able to find out, what with the punishment he was being handed out. While absolutely understood why Varian was being punished, it was still cruel to keep him from finding such information, so through the power of phone communication Luz was asking Varian what he was looking for and doing her best to transcribe it for him to read later. Luckily Luz's penmanship is quite good, and she drew little doodles whenever she could for demonstration.

In the Knowledge Wing Luz is now looking things specifically for HER. This includes magical combinations from the Boiling Isles, specifically from Philip Wittebane's own journal. She didn't love the source, but knew it was an absolute necessity to relearn some of the combinations in case she ever needed them. Since it was also quiet and full of non-fiction, Luz uses this wing to follow up on her missing work. Yes, it's official: Luz is becoming kind of responsible.

Is she still doodling in the margins and taking breaks to goof off and read manga? Absolutely.

The Records Wing is something different altogether. While Luz seemed to be bursting with excitement in the other wings, this one leave her quiet and contemplative, and upon further viewing, Luz is actually crying. Who could she possible be reading about?

Fundraising:

[Demyx had missed the dinosaurs. He'd been out of town doing a collaborative thing for his channel. A video which has been uploaded with a link to donate for the rebuilding efforts. And Demyx can be found occasionally helping out with fundraising on the streets. And trying to rope others into helping out. He's out there in a cheerleader uniform, matching with the friend who he's helping with this fundraiser thing. Hey, it's eye-catching and he's having fun while doing something good, right?]

Every little bit helps~ And if you don't have any money to spare, why not consider taking a few hours to help out? I can hook you up with a cute uniform~ Or you can bring your own!

Lost To The Muses:

[Anyone who follows Demyx's channel will notice a sudden spike of activity. It's common for him to do one or two videos a week. More if he's in the zone. But a lot more goes into it than just record and upload. So it's definitely strange when suddenly in one day he's got four new cover songs and an original piece! Maybe you dropped in to see him? Texted? Or maybe you're a neighbor who is annoyed with all the noise he's been making...

Or maybe you'll catch him when he finally pulls himself away to ho get food. He's forgotten a lot and he might need some help with that.]

The Music Wing:

[Demyx is kind of disappointed with this month's realm. Library? Laaaaame. Such a snorefest. Until he finds the music wing! Catch him being disappointed that his camera doesn't work.]

Aww man... this would have made a really epic video...

[But he still has fun playing the instruments and singing. Especially singing with the songbirds! He'll be happy to put on a show for you!]

Any requests~?

At the Animal Shelter:
Danny had started volunteering at the shelter for his community service, but to his surprise he'd found out that he rather enjoyed it. Once a week he can be found cheerfully helping to walk the dogs.

Astronomy Night:
Danny keeps a close eye on the weather reports at the beginning of the month. On a night with clear skies he sends out a quick message to anyone who'd been interested, and he heads out to the park to set up his telescope. This was going to be the perfect night to watch the stars.

Stuck in a Tree?
As weeks had gone by without any new abilities showing up, Danny had started to hope that maybe this was it. He already had at least four different powers. That was enough, right? Maybe he was done.

He really should have known better.

When it finally happens, it as if his personal gravity has suddenly turned off as he suddenly begins drifting off the ground. After a lot of flailing and panicking in the air he finally manages to grab onto a top branch of a tree.

...And now he had no idea what to do. Maybe someone would walk by?

The Records Wing:
As much as Danny would have loved to visit the Planetarium (and he did still plan on going there if he got a chance), he had so many questions about the memories and powers that had come to him. That other him... What had happened to him? Was he really a superhero?

If there was a chance that he could get even a few answers, he had to know.

Danny stares at the book that contained all of his answers worriedly, before getting up his courage and flipping it open to a random page.

Much, much later, he can be found at the library staring blankly at the wall as he tries to take everything in. The powers, the time travel, the problems. He'd been hypnotized and hunted and cloned and kidnapped. Had traveled through time and destroyed the world and saved it.

It was a lot to digest.

Extra Credit

She is, quietly, very, very reticent about her lack of anything even resembling a formal education. She's also certain she's too old to learn. Or at least that's what she tells herself.

And yet...

Her profound ignorance of where she is rankles here. Bothers her much more than the idea of people thinking she's some idiot yokel from an an idiot corner of the galaxy. Oh, sure, yeah, all the old jokes about people from Agamar seem a little bit less funny now that she could theoretically be the punchline.

And so, here she was, in the Spirit Realm class. Taking carefully written notes, slowly, in Aurebesh.

Up in the Air

Now, to feel better, she decided to risk her life.

Somewhat. A little bit. Probably a bit less than usual. She's never done unpowered flight. Powered flight? Yes. The instructors talk about their stories, and she does her best not to listen. She'll take in all the important, practical instructions - but the stories just...remind her of her own. She has to look away, when one describes a perilous, sudden storm, remembering the sound of flak bursts and heavy laser fire as the DX-9 transports she'd flown had dropped on target.

But the actual flying - by the stars, does that bring her joy. To soar, free, the challenge being just to stay up. For a little while, at least, she is free.

One might see her, high above - or after as she's taking off the silly helmet, trying to put her equipment away. Only to look down at a Moogle, poking her leg.

"Oh, uh...hi there?"

Wandering the Library - The Offer of the Muses

She doesn't know what she wants to learn, but something about a suddenly-appearing library calls to her. A Jedi can't help but explore the strange, really - the very presence of the library is like a slight buzzing, even with her powers as limited as they are.

She can be found in various parts of the library. Mostly exploring, but occasionally curled up in the quietest corner she can find with a book.

But the offer the muses made...oh, now that is tempting. And horrifying. She could get rid of...so many things she doesn't want to remember, get rid of the person she used to be, just forget they were ever there. But...what would she be then? Even with her powers back, would she just fall into the same trap because she'd forgotten what they meant?

It had her pacing the floor, arms crossed.

Back to School

Nobody said it was going to be easy. But by the end of the first week, she's in full on denial. Her attitude can be summarized by the concept of "EVERYTHING IS FINE."

She has always excelled in school. And now she's completely, totally, out of her depth. These are subjects she's never even heard of, in some cases, and in others are completely alien to her. Everything works differently, outside the Boiling Isles. So she does the dumbest, but most natural thing possible: bottle up all the panic, anxiety and fear she's feeling and covers them with brittle confidence and withdrawal, like the Chernobyl Sarcophagus.

She'll say little about school, even to Luz. And even to Luz, she'll be hard to find during the day. She hides, her ears hidden under a kerchief on her head, as far away from other students as she can, desperately willing the words on the pages in front of her to make sense. She can often be found doing that.

The one thing she can do, it turns out, is volleyball. She had been an ace Grudgby player in her time, after all - and in volleyball she finds the one place there is an outlet for everything she is feeling. The rules are exceedingly simple, compared to Grudgby, so she picks it up very fast.

...And her play style is...aggressive, to say the least. Beware being on the opposing team.

The Great Library

While she's wary of the idea of Muses - and stays as far away from them as she can - (she's had quite enough of enormously powerful wish-granters, thank you very much) the library itself...

She couldn't resist if she tried. She loves books, loves them, loves reading, and sharing reading. She wanders the halls every free moment she can, and she'll be there across the month, headphones stuck over her ears to block out distractions, and reading everything she can.

She alternates between extra study to try and solve the 'I know nothing about human worlds' problem - and when that just won't work anymore, when the anxiety comes for her..she retreats into poetry, and fiction.

She spends so much time in the library that a temporary sort of lair evolves - a few throw pillows she stashes in a remote section, against a wall, where she can hide in comfort.

Lost to the Muses - Moxxie's Flat

He didn't know why he had never taken up gardening before now but one trip to Stardew later and here he was with a new hobby and his first armload of plants.
That had been hours ago.

Now Moxxie's flat looked like a page right out of the jungle book with plants reaching from floor to ceiling, pots full of flowers resting on every level surface and vines haphazardly draped over trellis's and walls.

Some where in there Anthony was busy working with more plants. Some where else there was a sofa and a cat... but who could tell where in this labyrinth of undergrowth.

The Great Library of Alexandria

Anthony stood in the center of the hall, quite obviously gobsmacked by the size and enormity of the library he had just entered. Reading wasn't really his thing. It wasn't that he was not capable of it but he simply saw no reason to sit down and read a boring old book in a quiet nook some where when the movie adaptation had more excitement and explosions.

So why had he decided to come here in the first place? It was like a call, some sort of homing signal, or one of those nearly forgotten memories that had almost been lost forever in his earlier muse-inspired gardening craze. It was something that said if he came here he might find something important. That some one he once knew really loved libraries and if he were to be found then here would be the best place to start looking.

There was only that one obstacle to get past...

He stepped forward to the pedestal that was functioning as the proverbial 'ticket booth' and searched his pockets for anything that might fill the requirement, 'To obtain knowledge, you must share knowledge.'

He had a Best of Queen CD.

Might work...

The Theatre Wing

The performing arts had always held a soft place in his 'too-cool-to-have-any-soft-places' heart but the play being acted out on stage was not one of his favorites. Shakespeare was a master playwright, a wordsmith beyond measure, but Anthony never had enjoyed... Hamlet.

"It would be one of his gloomy ones..."

He complained to no one in particular though it felt like some one really ought to have been standing to his right. Maybe even eating grapes.

"How that play became popular I'll never know."

The Museum Wing

The main draw for this wing had been the dinosaurs. Given what he had heard about recent events and his love for a good dinosaur movie the bones of these long dead creatures had pulled him in. It was not what he now stared at however...

It sat on its pedestal, not as a glowing menace of sin, but as a simple red and delicious looking apple tempting in its simplicity.

"Is that..."

Anthony's nose scrunched as he pointed out the apple to the crocodile guard slithering by.

"You mean you leave one of these things just sitting out here? There is no glass or anything?"

The croc snapped his jaws, indicating that it was the best and only security needed here though it left Anthony feeling less than impressed.

"Sure you are here... But what if you or one of the guards decided to take a bite? It could even be accidental, misplaced your lunch, oh there it is, big red apple sitting right where you must have left it. One bite is all it would take for all the Knowledge of good and evil to be yours."

He smiled and glanced back towards the guard who now also seemed to be looking at the Apple and to whomever else might have walked into the gallery about then.

"You have to admit it's tempting."

I. School Time
[New Year, New Me - or rather pretty much he's the same music teacher as usual. For those who never had him before, Elliot comes off as a rather friendly teacher. One of those sweet teachers who always have a smile on their face. But just as you start to think his music class will be an easy A, he starts assigning a lot of homework and shows his tough grading rubric - all with that same sweet smile on his face. He's not an unfair teacher, but there's not gonna be any slacking off in his class.

And if you had him last year? Well, better hope you got some practice time during the summer, because he'll be checking up on that too.

When he's not teaching classes, he can be found in his office - or rather, a glorified storage closet that's been converted to a teacher office. There, he's working through a mountain of paperwork and lesson plans as he sips on a pumpkin spiced latte. Feel free to come by and talk to him, if you want some one-on-one time. ]

II. Inspiration Strikes
[At least, that's how it goes for the first week and a half of school. Then...his performance starts to slack. During lectures, he seems to have "tip of the tongue" moments a lot, or forgets about assignments. And a few times, he fails to show up to class at all.

Manage to track him down either at his office or at his place, and you'll find him nose deep in a music competition notebook. He seems completely in the zone as he hums to himself and starts writing down composition. Sure, Elliot can get lost in the music sometimes, but even for him this seems a little...intense. ]

III. The Library - Music Wing
[Finally, some people finally convince him to get away from that music notebook and get to the library in hopes of dealing his his memory problem. He brings a musical score to donate to the shelves. But before he can manage to track down one of the muses? He spots the music wing and immediately veers off into that direction. ]

Don't worry, it won't take long! I just want to have a peek-

[He tells that to whoever with him, and it's a gigantic lie. As soon as he's there, he's completely engrossed in everything the place has to offer. From all the instruments to the music, to the recordings-]

Oh wow! They actually have Mozart on a recording! Now I gotta see this...!

[Stop him or he will never leave this part of the library. Ever]

IV. The Records Wing
[By some miracle, Elliot was finally pulled out of the music wing and even got his memories recovered. A true and utter miracle, really.

After being told to stay out of the music wing for at least a day (but oh does he plan to go back), he winds up in the records room. It's probably a bad idea to look into this stuff, but like everyone else- Elliot can't help himself. He ends up with a book, a red leather bound book with a horned lion on the spine along with his name. As he reads through it...it's surreal. There's similarities to his own life, but at the same time completely different. And there's so much, he finds himself deciding to go to the end-]

"They fly away. Elliot screams--"

[He stops, or rather, the text on the page stops. He stops, confused. He tries to flip the pages, seeing if he missed something]

That can't be the end. Where's the rest- [He stops as he notices a note on the final page in the bottom corner] "Timeline...aborted"?

[What in the world does that mean...?]

V. Wildcard

[School]

[Mirabel's in the middle of lunch period, and despite her best efforts... her heart just isn't in school. Not after learning that her lost family members could be god-knows-where, and she hasn't been feeling well about it since. She's quietly eating, looking a little more glum than usual.]

[Inspiration - Part 1]

[Mirabel's bad mood lightens when she feels a burst of inspiration for her art. And all day she can be found in and out of craft stores, in art class, or at home just getting supplies or painting up a storm. And they look good. Pretty much, that's all she's been doing. She'll completely forget to eat, too caught up in her work to stop. Well, that's art for you, right?]

[Inspiration - Part 2 cw: memory loss]

[And pretty much art is all Mirabel cares about doing. From the moment she wakes up to the time she goes to bed (if she remembers to go to bed on time), she'll be painting away. If anyone interrupts her, she'll give them a puzzled look.]

Oh hi! ... Caaaaan I help you?

[There's no recognition of your character on her face. Just a blank stare.]

[1. Up in the air]

Luffy is busy exploring everything, having just arrived!

a. Bungee Jump - Luffy just had to try this very stretchy activity. He finds it hilarious and fun but isn't all that trilled by it. After all, with his stretchy ability, this is just a normal Tuesday for him. He probably freaked a couple people out, though, as the first time he tried it out, he accidentally stretched too and ended up with his head slamming into the ground, breaking rocks. He's fine but it certainly didn't sound like he would be.

b. Hang Gliding - What could be more fun than flying? Or, well, gliding. This isn't something available in his world, or at least, he's never seen or heard of it before. He's pretty excited to check it out. He just needs to make sure he doesn't land near any water, as he'll need help before he drowns. He can't swim, after all, and drowns like an anchor.

c. Stardew Valley - Another fun new place for him to check out and explore! He's very much excited to learn about this up coming spooky season. He loves checking out, exploring, and especially smelling and eating all that the fall season has to offer.

d. Clean Up - Luffy can't help with repairs. He already knows he'll just make things worse and possibly break things. However, he's good at breaking down debris so that they're more manageable for other people to carry and he's much, much stronger than he appears. He'll also be carrying large pieces of broken building and road out of the way.

[2. Lost to the muses]

Did somebody say party? Because that's what Luffy heard.

It's time to celebrate all the awesome things in the world and he's going to be trying to get everyone involved. He has a little bit of funds but not a lot, so he'll be trying to recruit people to help with supplies and setting up a big, elaborate party for the entire city, if they want to come. Most likely, not everyone will want to show up, but he does want to prepare a big get together for as many people as possible!

The only thing is, he has no idea where he is and who anyone else is. He also keeps forgetting the people he's roped into the project, trying to rope them in again and again.

[3. The Music Wing]

Luffy wanders into this wing on purpose. He's here to enjoy the music that others create. He might be a pirate but he loves music with a passion.

Whoever is in here, he'll slowly wander over and sit or lay down near them, happily listening to them create their music and possibly humming along.

[4. The Records Wings - And After]

Finding the records room had been a complete accident. After writing out some very sloppy notes about his home world, he'd been allowed a bracelet and to roam as he pleased in the library. He'd tried entering some wings before but he hadn't been able to, which led him back to the pedestal, to try and give it some "knowledge".

However, Luffy has become increasingly frustrated with what he's found in the records wing. He's found several records in the library but he either can't access them because the person isn't alive or because they aren't considered family.

He argues at length over two records, unable to stomach what he's being told.

"The Merry Go most certainly IS my family."

And, when that circular argument doesn't lead him anywhere, he gives a huff of frustration.

However, he can't accept one other record that he's denied access to.

"Sabo is my brother! Surely I can access my brother's record!"

However, he will be continued to be denied access to the record, as, according the ghostly keepers, only those records of those who have permanently died can be read.

Luffy will eventually sulk out of the room and the library, very upset. He can't understand, or rather, believe, what he's being told.

Anyone who meets up with him or comes across from him after he leaves will find him uncharacteristically upset, his usual smile no where to be seen.

[5. Meeting the Muses]

Meeting Thalia, the Cheerful Muse, probably wasn't by accident. It can't be by chance that one of the most cheerful and optimistic people would run into the muse of comedy and praise.

Luffy doesn't mind destroying the party later, to get his memories back, but he'll do it after everyone's had a chance to enjoy it. Until then, he agrees to give up an important memory for some divine prize inspiration thingy. The only thing he says he won't give up is any important person.

As a result, the important meeting of two people from his past slowly fades away, disappearing. This is a memory that will never be returned. However, he's found some of his improbable luck has returned and that's good enough for him!

[Schoolhouse Rumble]

It's Kid School, for KIDS

Suzume is going back to school after a nice long summer, and it seems that on top of that she's going to a new school at that. Kindergarten was great and all, but she's bigger now! Older! A whole six years old by anyone's guess, something which is made no easier by the fact that when asked about it she has no idea when her birthday is.

Maybe someone will pick it out for her eventually. As it is, it's time for FIRST GRADE! An exciting achievement and one that should surely have her full attention as she walks toward scho- anddddd she's already walking off course to chase after a rabbit.

Might be. Best to help her get back on track there.

The Grass Is Always Greener - Enki Education

For the most part, Suzume doesn't really get a lot out of the Underground. Being a fairly small child, shopping trips are things she gets brought to more than anything else, and frankly taking small children to any shopping establishment is a great way to exhaust anyone. But she does go there sometimes, if only because every time she drops in with Mooland the Stoutland to see 'Mister Professor Willow', she tends to end up getting a candy, so she's definitely doing that now!

Except, something is different today, and that something is small, fuzzy, and blue. Suzume spots someone who frankly looks like a strange teddy bear, and she's determined now.

Which is to say anyone especially near is getting a pantleg tug, shirt tug, whatever is in reach enough to grab some attention, because-

"Umn....I need stuff for Mister Professor..."

Suzume has not made it remotely clear to Zodiac that she'd like Professor History Lessons. Actually she hasn't made it very clear to anyone. But she is very small, and has no money, and so.

[A-Musing Muses]

Having convinced a poor exhausted 'Tenmei Kakyoin' (who being of the Earth Element has been having a right time this month) to bring her to the 'new gate place' this month, Suzume is having a blast at the Library of Alexandria. Most of the time anyway? A lot of the time, certainly. She can't exactly read that well after all- she's just started grade 1, and sometimes, words are hard, and new, and a Lot. But she can be spotted in the many...Many wings of the Library, getting up to a few shenanigans.

With or without her beleagured babysitter of course.

LITERATURE WING - In the wing which for many may just be the primary draw when they hear Library, Suzume can be seen actually treating it like a...well. Library! Audio books make reading anything her age level far easier, and the cats are all too happy to assist.

She inevitably of course, also just falls asleep entirely in the middle of one though, curled up in a beanbag and gently snoring- with a small clowder of cats curled beside, near, or on for a nap of their own.

...Get those phones out, start snapping.

KNOWLEDGE WING - In contrast, the knowledge wing requires some snappy intervention if Suzume's going to be allowed to stay for very long. It happens, fortunately. Empowered by nonsense items discovered at her door last month, the halls of the Knowledge Wing are big, grand, and tall. And Suzume is slightly faster than others. And Wind Element Aligned.

And wearing Anti-Gravity Boots.

"HwhWHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEEEEEEE..!!"

Which is why the silence of your studying might just be broken by the screeching laughter, followed by concerned 'whoot'-ing as a six year old streaks by pursued by a number of harried owls.

MUSIC WING - By the time she's ushed away (permanently) from the Knowledge Wing, and her Anti-Gravity Boots are (temporarily) confiscated, Suzume's much calmer and far more ready to interact with the Library as intended! Song plays through the halls beautifully, and as she carries what looks to be a perfectly normal frog around with her, she sometimes even does some dancing! ...Or at least whatever the little ones call dancing these days.

Though, eventually, she's found just frowning at the frog while a few songbirds stop to check in.

"....he sings when it's bed time..." she can be heard whining, and the frog, for its part, just gives an incredibly normal Croak.

THEATRE WING - Unfortunately a child's attention span and energy levels are very variable things, so while she started in this place with watching a movie, it doesn't take long to find the BATTLE ZONE- which the rats and mice fortunately rush to make sure will be appropriately run for someone of the child's size and skill.

But much like any small child empowered by a foam swoard at a ren-faire knight tournament, it seems like it might not matter that she's pitted against a large and grotesque beetle instead of a dragon. For now-

"RrrrRRRAAAAAAAA..!! RRRAORAAAORAAORAORAORAORAORAORAORA-!"

A strangely purple Suzume (evidently THIS is what an aesthetic demon form entails) gleefully screams and tries her best to hit the thing, tiny fists doing very little to actually leave a mark.

It's fine.

PLANETARIUM WING - Perhaps, by this point, Suzume's actually burned her energy out. She's still purple for a little bit, but eventually after wandering around the massive planetary dome a few times and poking at the hyper realistic skies, she'll go back to being her regular non-purple self. She seems to be quite entranced by the planetarium, suffice to say.

MUSEUM WING - She's much the same in the museum, though for a very...different reason.

Rather than getting too close to the displays, it seems she's gotten much too close to the guards. And really, they're not sure what to do with that. While the crocodile is all too eager to carry the little one back and forth between different displays, it doesn't take long to realize that she seems far more interested in the ride itself than...anything else. And also, in giving little 'pat pat pats' on their head.

Eventually, the crocodile is just sort of left sitting beside a display, mouth half open, eyes wide with only one emotion.

Bafflement.

(Help!)

MESS HALL - A kid's gotta eat, and a crocodile's gotta work, so eventually Suzume is separated and carted off to get something to eat somewhere other than the Literature wing. The child can be found, at various points, yammering and chattering a way with the goats, trying to describe something she likes eating.

"There's curry...but...it goes in the bread...and then the bread is round..."

They'll get there.

RECORDS WING - And then...there's the Record's Wing.

Suzume isn't very interested in reading these, mostly because they don't look like very fun books to read. One of the scholars of course helps her to find 'her' book- a rather short thing, to no surprise, littered with pictures and drawings and having hardly any dialogue at all until the end- but it's while they're standing near another shelf that she seems to start getting in an argument with thin air.

"Hoshiiiiii... ...Hoshi I'm boreddddd..."

The girl starts poking at the air, continuing to whine.

"Hoshiiiiii..."

Evidently Suzume's 'invisible friend' doesn't want to leave- while there's nothing floating that proves anything substantial is going on, the whining isn't stopping.

BONUS - TIME TO LEAVE - Eventually, it's time to say goodbye to the Library- but not before Suzume presents to the Muses a great big crayon drawing she's done in her free time while there. On the biggest paper she can find, with all nine muses drawn and slightly color coded in all their big headed, objects-bigger-than-the-rest-of-them glory, and each one even has a few of the animals from the wings drawn around too! ...Except the last one who just sort of has attempts at very small scholar ghosts. She tried.

And apparently they appreciate it, because even though she's sad about it not really coming out the way she wanted it to, the Muses love it! It's going right up in their museum!!

Awwww.

However when courses open about the spirit realm, he doesn't hesitate to sign up. It might be good to get more information on that.]

Is this the course on the spirit realm?

The Records Wing:

[Katsuki wasn't surprised to find records of his other self. He was surprised to see it was longer than he was anticipating. He had assumed the getting impaled thing from one of his memories was fatal and that his other self had died fairly young. But it seems he survived that at least.

Katsuki isn't interested to see how that story ends though. Instead he's looking for something else. Confirmation of his suspicions. Early parts of the records are hard to stomach. But things he already knew. But as he reads he's surprised by the events that unfold on the page in front of him.

He can be found sitting against a wall, the book open in his lap. Turning over what he's learned in his head. For a while now, he's suspected that in this other life he was a villain. But somehow, despite everything he's seen in those memories...]

Seriously? A hero...?

[Did Katsuki know it was stupid to make a deal with the muses? Yes. Did he make a deal with the muses? Also yes. But he didn't really notice any difference. Positive or negative. He doesn't know what he's lost or what he's gained and that's... ominous.

But when he's walking home later he passes a house. And has the weirdest feeling that it's his. The same feeling he got when he found his gauntlets last month. And lo and behold there's a key on his key ring that he didn't have before that fits the front door.

Okay. Well. A free house. Can't beat that, right? He still has no idea what he's lost though...

Of course now he needs to furnish it and he's banned from Ikea so thrifting it is? On weekends you might find him checking out local thrift stores to find some basic furniture and appliances.]

What do you think of this table? Does it seem sturdy to you?

[Or maybe you live on the same street as his new house and you're getting a new neighbor? Come say hi! Oh, a box just split and the contents are rolling everywhere and he's scrambling to collect everything.]

Fuck! Get back here you piece of shit!

[This month is not being very kind to Kakyoin, honestly. Throughout the month, he's finding himself low on energy--and on the odd days he does have energy, that's swiftly depleted with the things he needs to do. It really is the creatives' pick two--he's got the inspiration this month, so much inspiration, but when he has the time to do anything with it, he doesn't have the energy; if he has the energy, he simply doesn't have the time!

While he accompanies Suzume to the library, it is, frankly, with the expectation he's going to be having a calmer time.

He's not entirely wrong, but also. He is an extra-tired teenager accompanying a small, extra-energetic child to a giant library, it's going to go about how you think it will.]

Theatre Wing
[While there's a lot to be fascinated with in this wing, he's almost immediately drawn to the room with all the video games.

He's settled in with an old racing game for the time being. Once he notices someone else present...]

... It's multiplayer, if you want to join in.

Records Wing
[Honestly, Kakyoin's not entirely sure what brings him here. Maybe it's the fact that he caught a glimpse of Suzume here, maybe it's something else, but he finds himself in the records wing regardless. As he looks over the records he's allowed to access, he stops at one-- Noriaki Kakyoin, noting with amusement how it's written. A relative he was sneakily named after, maybe?

It's a little short, but he's allowed to read it, so... why not, right?

(Words he'd come to regret.)

... It's a little distressing, how well the things in this record line up with some of the things he's been remembering. It's once he realizes he's approaching the end of the record that he just. Closes the book and puts it down. He looks a bit pale.]

School - Sept 05 onward

[ Luisa had been both excited and nervous as the new school year approached. A part of her had really been looking forward to it, and getting to meet new people at the university. But she'd been especially anxious since this would be her first time going to school in what feels like a long time, and she had a feeling it would be very different here compared to the school back home.

A part of her was also a bit worried about having to deal with her possession contract during the year. She'd technically missed the second day of school because of it already, though she'd been glad that she had the idea to make sure none of her classes were scheduled on Fridays for that reason. Still, she couldn't help wondering if how much more difficult it was going to be during those weeks of the first month, being so hungry and then sleeping all weekend.

Well, it wouldn't help to fret about that too much right now, she supposes. For the moment, she had to concentrate on what she could do right now, and doing her best in her classes when she can. For the moment, though, she does feel a bit lost on the big campus. Katsuki had given her a tour one time, but at the moment she was still checking the university map in order to locate her classes. ]

Lost to the Muses

[ Luisa had been a bit worried, what with taking on classes on top of working at the restaurant, piano lessons, and helping out around town, that it would be much more difficult to keep writing the way she wanted to. But lately writing stories seemed to come a lot easier, the words somehow flowing a lot easier. She takes whatever opportunity she can get to write the words down as soon as possible, so she doesn't lose them.

It gets to a point that she starts bringing a notebook with her everywhere, so she's able to write wherever she is. And once she's hit with a rush of inspiration, she'll find a spot to just sit and write.

Which is good and all...but she might have been on her way to somewhere. And the time she spends writing things down might just make her late for something. ]

The Library

[ Despite everything - or maybe because of - Luisa had been excited when they had gotten notice about the library. She'd always loved to read, even though she hadn't always had the time. But now she did (even though maybe she should have been doing other things too), and the library was just filled with so many books, she isn't even sure where to start.

She spends a lot of time in the Literature Wing, reading as much of the stories that she's able to, as much as she has access to. She does spend some time in many of the other wings too, because there's so much to see and look at and discover, but the Literature Wing is by far her favorite. And the cats seem particularly fond of her, for one reason or another, and are always eager to bring more books for her and provide refreshments to the window seat she's chosen to spend her time. Several of the cats are also curled up on and around her, and honestly Luisa couldn't be happier.

But at some point she does spend a bit more time in the Records Wing. Despite a few holes in her memory lately, she hasn't forgotten everything, and after a while she's able to locate one book in particular.

Even as she holds the book, though, she hesitates from opening it. Somehow, she seems nervous about it. ]

Back to School

[ While Moana could really do without...a lot about school, really, waking up early was one of the things that bothered her the least. She was a pretty early bird most of the time anyway, and even more so during the swim season since they often met before school. So many people coming into school in the mornings would be greeted by a very chipper Moana. ]

Hey! How's it going?

[ And somehow her mood would remain pretty constant throughout the day, despite the general drudgery of high school life. How she manages to remain so upbeat is anyone's guess, but anyone who might be looking particularly down - whether in class, between classes, during lunch, or after school - will suddenly find Moana besides them or nearby. ]

Doing all right?

Up in the Air

[ Moana had been a bit curious about the floating island above the park, but hang-gliding and bungee lessons were certainly not what she'd expected. A part of her did kind of want to try, though she held back a little bit for now.

(Though it probably wouldn't take much convincing)

As the wind whips around them, though, Moana can't help a small sigh as she pulls her hair up to keep it out of her face. ]

Man...today would be such a great day to take my boat out too.

The Great Library of Alexandria

[ With all the memory loss happening lately, Moana is more than happy to head to the library and help out somehow. But once she's there, she gets a bit...distracted.

The Music Wing in particular has gotten her attention, with instruments from home among the many found there. She'd been playing her ukulele a lot more these days (which might explain some of her absentmindedness lately), and getting to play some of familiar instruments from Hawaii is an unexpected joy. She even finds a way to play performances of Hawaiian music, and dances along.

...all things considered, though, this might not be the best idea.

Moana does also take a moment to drop by the Records Wing, though, and actually stumbles across a book with her name on accident. At first she assumes it's just one about her life so far, and had planned to read it to go back through her memories.

But the memories she finds aren't the ones she'd expected. ]

A: Back to School (high school students and/or teachers)
[It was no real secret to the people who actually knew her, that Kat was not looking forward to starting her next year of school, even if this was going to be her senior year, and thus the last time she'd have to tolerate it unless she actually decided to pursue anything after that. ...Which, wasn't particularly likely, or at the very least she wasn't planning on it, but plans could eventually change.

As has been the norm for her for years now, she largely keeps to herself, with exeptions made for anybody that she actually knows. Unlike previous years, this time it's also partly because she doesn't want to be questioned about the "weird hat" that she had acquired earlier in the year. She's not planning to actively push away anyone that approaches her, though, unless things end up crossing the line from "awkward" to "actually a problem for one reason or another."]

B: The Literature Wing (OTA)
[Once she discovers the library's literature wing, and more-specifically the fanfic subsection, Kat basically makes herself at home; picks out a small pile of things that were written for one of her more-recent fixations (that she's kept quiet about, so if you find her and didn't already know about it: surprise! she's actually kind of a nerd!), grabs a couple snacks and a drink, and then parks herself at a table to start reading while taking care not to make some kind of a mess.]

C: The Records Wing (OTA)
[She hadn't been planning to wander into the records wing, but for some reason, Kat winds up here anyway. For part of the time, she's mostly just browsing around, looking at the names or designs printed on the spines of the books, until an unusual, almost-blocky sort of design draws her attention. Pulling this book from its shelf, she notices that there's no name printed on it, only what reads more like a title than anything else: "The Last Magician."

The earlier parts of the text sound pretty standard for somebody that's referred to as a magician. ...then it starts getting to parts that sound a little familiar, then to parts that sound very familiar, before she starts noticing some details that she quickly wishes she didn't. It doesn't take long for her to realize that she remembers some of these things happening, that this record she's found is about the girl in her memories, and it doesn't take long before she starts seeing more things playing out in the back of her mind, none of them particularly pleasant.

Her distress at all of this becomes apparent soon enough, but she doesn't stop herself from reading further, not yet. Distracting her away from it might be a good idea.]

Pumpkin spice

[It turns out, as ridiculous as pumpkin spice things seem to Hunter, pumpkin spice lattes are absolutely delicious. He still isn't exactly prioritizing a healthy amount of sleep so coffee has become a necessity in his life, and with his quiet enjoyment of sweet foods, adding pumpkin spice to is a natural progression for him. Why doesn't the Boiling Isles have this? He isn't sure, but he wishes it did.

He can be found at a coffee shop near the highschool early in the morning, doing some extra credit work for classes. With school only just back in session he doesn't have much homework, and of course on the first day back insisted on extra work from all of his teachers. He looks thoroughly engaged with the math he's doing, like it's the most exciting thing ever, occasionally sipping at his coffee.]

The Library - Knowledge Wing

[The Knowledge Wing of the library is where Hunter can be found most of his time outside of school. He'll have a huge stack of books in his arms, on subjects from math to physics to human history. It's all fascinating to him, and with the portals to different realms being temporary he wants to make the most of his time here. His nerd side is showing, ohhh boy is it showing.

He's got a large stack of books with him right now, enough to impede his sight as he turns around a corner. Unable to see in front of himself, he'll run right into another patron, unless they're quick enough to get out of the way.  Flapjack, from his perch on Hunter's shoulder, cheeps.

Either way, he stumbles, dropping a few books.]

Hey! Watch where you're going.

Closed to Bruno
[Hunter didn't realize what section of the library he's wandered into, his eyes trained on stacks rather than any signage. This realm is a veritable treasure trove of knowledge and he was doing his very best to explore every inch of it, which includes investigating as many books as he can, even after he makes his way into Records. He's picking out texts whose titles sound interesting to me, and it's all totally benign until he picks out one very thin book.

It's more of a pamphlet with how little information there is, honestly, and most of it is in an incredibly old English dialect that's nigh-impossible to read unless you're a practiced scholar. It's something that most people would overlook, from how useless it seems.

But not Hunter. Not Hunter, not after he idly flips it open and sees a plate of a man that looks... uncomfortably familiar. Like himself, honestly, including the little cardinal perched on his shoulder, but surely that's just coincidence. Right?
Right??]

Arrival:

When already panicking, overwhelmed, and seeking an escape from both internal and external problems, the last thing you'd want to have happen is to wake up in some funhouse mirror style recreation of a place linked to all those problems, with none of your things, no idea how you got there, and no idea how to get out.

And that was before she realized her abilities weren't working properly, because the tears threatening to start weren't immediately electrolyzing.

But at least she had a problem to solve now, something physically, directly in front of her to throw herself at and fix. Or, well, escape. Hopefully. She could ignore the rest of everything till later, right?

And that worked, to a point. Till emotion and exhaustion overwhelmed her and she had to sit and freak out rest.

Sight Seeing:

At least there was plenty to distract her, when she was finally out of whatever hell hole from her memories that labyrinth had been made from. Which was almost stressful and overwhelming in itself, but the fresh air was... nice. The wind felt just cool enough to have that hint of crispness to it, balancing on the goldilocks of temperatures between summer and winter, and seemed strong enough that that childhood urge to hold out her arms and let the wind pick her up started nagging at the back of her mind.

Though maybe it wasn't as childish as she first thought, it seemed, as she paused outside of what seemed like a park and looked up, not... totally sure what it was she was seeing. Something large was up there, with colorful figures dotting the sky around it, dipping and diving like birds till they came close enough for her to identify them as hang gliders. Whatever they were using as a jumping off point apparently had a whole group of them.

She couldn't imagine herself ever having the confidence to try to do something like that, but that definitely wasn't going to stop her from finding a seat somewhere to watch in awe.

Having fun isn't hard...

No matter the strangeness and confusion going on, a library was a library.

And THE Great Library of Alexandria? She would die before missing that opportunity.

Which is how she found herself in the most grand and beautiful hall she'd ever seen, suddenly incredibly nervous and clutching a notebook with a few pieces of loose paper in her hands as she inched forward. Everything she'd seen had said to bring knowledge, so she had a collection of various things she'd scribbled out, from stories she'd heard from more capable heroes in her past to electronic engineering notes and ideas she'd had for creations or adjustments to things that already existed. Surely one of those would count?

Even knowing next to nothing about what was going on, where she was, or how it all worked, the call of what knowledge might wait within was too much to ignore.

Besides! Theoretically it could have information that would help her figure things out, and if not that, maybe it would have other knowledge that the strange 'Zodiac' people would want?

[back to (high) school.

Far be it for Nox to miss school being back in session– once again, his classes are full of overly-energetic and rambunctious gremlins who either go too hard in PE or want nothing to do with the gym at all. The semester may be different, but honestly, his kids aren't, and he wouldn't trade it for anything else.

Of course, not everyone's happy he's back to coaching. After school is usually pretty quiet, considering most kids have already left and a lot of teachers have gone home. Still, sometimes people have a habit of choosing to be thorns rather than accepting of outcomes.

Rounding a corner, it's easy to see he's been roped again into an elitist family conversation.]

Mr. Miller, I presume? A word with you, please.

[Although it's not the same parents as before, Nox can easily tell where this conversation is going. He pauses after setting down some of the basketball equipment, eyes going over the family who now wants to talk to him.]

That's me, how can I help?

We wished to discuss why you did not select our son for the team. Our boy is very good at the sport and enjoys it, and he was crushed to find out he didn't make it.

[Nox exhales through his nose and crosses his arms, already noticing how his demon's perked its head up at the sound of opposition.]

Unfortunately we had a lot of students try out this year. I'm looking for players who'll work together as a team rather than hog the spotlight.

Your decision is wrong, and our son is going to be on your team.

[Oh, is he now? Nox knows better than to say anything, but he does raise a brow at the demand. This again, huh.] Your son is talented, Mrs. Brendon, make no mistake about that. However, [And here, he listens to his demon and decides on a compromise, recounting how much has changed since the last school year.] Your son is also notoriously known for shoving kids out of the way and grabbing the ball every chance he gets. Unfortunately, that was what showed the most in tryouts. I can't risk him hurting the other kids just so he can shoot a shot. I'm sure you understand.

[Without even skipping a beat, the father speaks up.] Should we remind you of your previous outbursts, then, and how unprofessional that makes you for the job? [This, of course, gets Nox to turn his head ever so slightly, and the husband continues.] Oh yes, we've heard all about your temper flares, Mr. Miller. How you supposedly yelled at your team more than once last year.

[Normally, Nox would brush this aside and continue playing the neutral part. But now? You know what? No. I'm done playing nice. He can feel his demon practically roar at the audacity of these humans, thinking they can get past him and harm the boys on his team. While Nox doesn't move at all, he certainly feels his senses sharpen as he turns completely territorial.]

Mr. Brendon, I'm sure you know it's against school policy to accept bribes or adhere to threats. [Slowly, he lets his aura push out, his demon snapping and clicking its claws in absolute anger. It bares its fangs and hones in on the couple like prey. As for Nox? He's quietly seething. No one is going to get close to his kids unless he says so.] In case you didn't, I'd be more than eager to speak with you about it while we have a mediator between us. Someone like the principal, maybe? A guidance counselor? I'm open to suggestions.

[All the while, the couple begins to slowly shrink back from Nox, despite him not even inching forward. It's hard to demand much when the entire hall suddenly feels like it has a thousand fucking eyes on you. Even worse when you can't see any of them. Nox tilts his head, looking completely curious and innocuous about the whole thing, his demon staring straight through his eyes right at the couple and demanding they label it as a fucking threat.

The father looks nervously at his watch while the wife casts her eyes hurriedly left and right.]

A-ah, w-well, about that, I think there's somewhere we have to be right now–

You sure? [He sounds completely casual, as if he doesn't notice them suddenly reversing their insistence, as if he himself isn't pushing his aura out further to make the space seem even more dangerous than it already is. The feeling of being watched like prey intensifies like knives in their backs, though Nox only exhales.] It wouldn't be a problem for me to go and arrange something, after all.

[The couple backs up quite a bit at this, coming closer together and desperately looking all around them, before the wife lets out a bit of a whimper.]

N-No need, we'll continue this another time.

[They bolt from where they stand, immediately getting as far away from the hall and Nox as they can, terrified out of their wits. Good, get the fuck out of here. The aura that was there before suddenly disappears, the space feeling normal again, and Nox sighs. He turns, and that's when he notices there's someone else there. Uh, oops.]

Ahhh, shit. Sorry you had to hear that. [Or see it. Whichever. Look, he's exhaling because he's embarrassed now. Hopefully the whole aura didn't fucking scare this person too.

the great library.

a. entrance. Hearing the call again for action has Nox immediately heading towards where he needs to be. Zodiac may be there to give him information and the like, but he also has to keep his mouth shut from saying something he really shouldn't in their faces. It's a good thing he's learned how to work on his temper since he first got it all those months ago.

Still, the entry to the library is... not what he's expecting, and he reads the lines of giving knowledge over a few times before it really settles in his head. Normally libraries just let you in and don't have requirements, but this also isn't a normal library, so it makes sense.]

Anyone got a spare piece of paper and pen or something?

[Yeah, you may just see him looking a bit for assistance so he can write down what he has in mind to give the library so he can get in. Some help would be great.

b. the knowledge wing (closed to certain characters).

It happens without warning.

Nox hasn't been doing much except reading, finding the books that stood out to him the most, and the one he'd started with was for an all too familiar name–

Vergil.

It hadn't explained everything, but it actually gave him an image to a face, an actual person instead of something vague and unknown. Nox starts with a normal beginning: Vergil was a very studious child, very prompt, focused, and also a complete nuisance to his brother. He and Dante would fight as children and bicker over things to the point where Vergil would label his things to make sure they stayed his. Nox actually stops for a moment and covers his mouth, if only to stop himself from snickering at the image of two boys arguing over everything they owned just to get on each other's nerves.

He reads about how much later, his father came to Fortuna when he was in his teens and then left shortly after, once he'd been satisfied for what he came to learn. How his father raised an entire demon tower to gain power in order to succeed at his plans, and eventually lost to his twin brother. Who could not accept defeat and all the ugliness with it, and threw himself into Hell rather than let Dante reach for him and take him home.

Getting this far becomes frustrating and upsetting, so Nox puts the book down with perhaps a bit too much force on the seat, causing the thing to rustle in its pages. It finally rests with over three quarters of the book passed by, a new section open and waiting for him to return to. After a moment of letting his emotions pass through him, his eyes glance back and catch the words he came across a man with a demon arm in a garage, one who strangely felt familiar and also completely foreign–

A shock suddenly goes right up his spine, and he clutches his head as a memory slams itself back into his mind. Seconds later, he grasps his right arm, unable to stop the feeling of overwhelming agony flood his entire body, before he simply collapses to the floor unconscious.

There he lies, not a word out of him, only the memory of losing his arm stuck on replay in the dark.

c. the knowledge wing (redux)[open to all]

Hours later, he still hasn't left, though this time he's careful in what he picks up. Nox has gone through several books at this rate- Vergil's, Dante's, a book on Fortuna, a woman named Kyrie (and his hands had shaken at holding it, as if his heart was grieving over someone he never knew, but felt so much towards, and and so much for), and settled on a new one that stood out when he'd thought he was done.

Despite the many memories he's gotten since the beginning of this year, he doesn't ever remember seeing or hearing about this woman. Nico. While he's well aware there's still a lot he's missed, it's apparent enough that Nero had found her to be just as important as everyone else.

In one hand he holds the book about her– but in the other, well... the other arm is actually robotic, this time. It's odd, because Nox has always had a normal right arm, but this one seems incredibly well designed, like it belongs to him specifically. He twists his wrist once and squints back at the book, looking over something, before trying it again. And again. And again. There's definitely a disgruntled look before he exhales, cracking his neck once in an effort to relax, and then trying again. This time he doesn't just flick his wrist, he actually focuses on trying to make it work through his demonic heritage–

The arm actually extends, pulling outwards into another form, and Nox nearly jumps out of his seat when it happens.]

Holy shit. [What the fuck is this???? He knows he was a devil hunter in his past life, but how the fuck did he even have these or get them to work for him when he needed? His confusion is completely apparent, even as he forces the arm to go back to its original form.

Muttering to himself, though still audible:]

Yeah, we're definitely not in Kansas anymore, fucking hell.

The Knowledge Wing

Alec may be found at one of the desks at any time of the day or night, reading up on metaphysics, portals, faerie rings, haunted houses, mysterious disappearances, anything he can get his hands on. There is a pile of notebooks beside him and invariably a cup of cold tea. He doesn't look like he's slept much or eaten anything in a while, but it's fine. He's fine. It's all fine.

Upon approach he'll mutter out.

"Bugger off you're in my light." Regardless of whether you are or not. A small whippet shaped dog made of shadow seems happy to meet you though and will bound up asking for pets.

The Planetarium Wing

Alec can be found staring up at the dome in semi-darkness watching the worlds float by, small ones, large ones, icy ones, ones of blackness or night or gas or permanent lava flow. All the while he's clutching his arms and shaking slightly as if he's having a tiny existential crises as he keeps muttering:

"Christ." Under his breath. In the darkness and part of the darkness, something whines.

At the Beach

At some point Alec tears himself away from being cold and miserable at the library to being cold and miserable at the beach, staring out at the ocean, looking pale and drawn and gray about the face. He might be reliving some trauma and it's usually on purpose, but he seems utterly unaware. A shadow whipped bounds up and down the sands barking wildly but Alec seems to hear and see nothing until something flashes in the water and he jumps near out of his skin.

"Holy shit was that a mermaid?"

Records Wing- I Closed to Pepa and Julieta

Bruno had hoped the library would be a nice respite from the insanity of last month (which he admittedly avoided as much as possible) and it truly had been. He'd enjoyed walking around, picking up various books to read, and looking at art that he'd only ever heard of and never seen. It was...nice.

Right up until he found one book in the records wing that made him stop dead. He stared at it for a while, pulling it out, starting at the cover, and putting it back again. Eventually, he reaches into his ruana to pick up his phone, messaging two people who definitely needed to have a say in this one.

No easy way of saying this, there's a book with dad's name on in the library. There's a picture of him on the cover and everything.

Records Wing II - OTA

Bruno does keep returning to this section of the library. He inadvertently ends up helping other people with their own books (or at the very least, offering irreverent commentary that might be seen as helping) in the process. But for the most part, he picks up that book again, sits down and just stares at it- occasionally running his fingers over the cover. Those that get close enough will see the name Pedro Madrgial with a picture of a man with more than a passing resemblance to Bruno himself- if you took off a couple of decades and tidied him up a lot. Bruno seems pretty lost in the book and only catches someone if they get close enough, making a surprised sound and leaning on the book, hiding it away.

"OH HEY, it's...you! Hanging out here. With me. In the library. Lotta books, right?" he laughs nervously, like a kid who got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. "You- you seen any books you like?"

Lost to the Muses OTA

Bruno's always thinking of his latest telenovela episode. It takes a few months to bring one to fruition and honestly? He's been enjoying people's reactions to it. It's nice to be known here as "the rat soap opera guy" and not "the guy who prophesies doom" it's a nice change of pace.

But lately, he's been focussing more and more on his script. Bruno might be an awkward loner, but he doesn't tend to miss meals that much anymore or fail to show up to work. But he sure is now. He can be found largely around the Encanto, muttering to himself as he scribbles down notes in a notebook.

"No no no, Daniela needs better motivation than that- maybe I need to introduce another love interest? Is that too much? What if she turns out to be Mia's secret twin? Maaaaaybe? It feels like it's missing something."

[He's still pretty quiet during class, more focused on studies than socializing. If you catch his eye between classes though, he will wave with a pleasant smile. Yes, even if you haven't met yet.]

City Clean-up

[While not required, he still wanted to help those who had community service duties. So he's still putting in hours volunteering to clean the city. On those occasions he can be seen with a trash bag and gloves, picking up sticks and other debris. Having cleared off the latest sidewalk, he steps back to survey the results with a smile.]

That looks a bit better.

Inspiration Strikes

[When he's not studying or volunteering, Souta can often be found in Stardew Valley getting the fall garden started. As the month progresses, however, he gets the oddest urge to pick up an older hobby again: drawing.]

[He starts by sketching the flowers and plants he's been tending. But as the days go on, he starts drawing other things near him with increasing focus. Buildings, objects, even people. If you stick around him long, he'll likely draw you too.]

The Muses

[One he realizes that his memories have been going, Souta is eager to jump into the month's gate. It was already worrying enough remembering events that he could not recall without also forgetting things that he's pretty sure he should know.]

[When they finally come across the Muses and hear the solution, his face falls just a little.]

It's a shame we have to get rid of them.

A library. The library. Any plans Raha may have had for the month are thoroughly destroyed by this particular gate opening.

His tail is quivering with excitement as he enters the library, eyes wide as he looks around. This will take him a moment, just being here would be enough even without reading anything. Of course, he's absolutely going to read everything he can- he's brought his 'payment,' which he hopes is enough. A textbook from his undergraduate education that he's certain to never need anymore, but has kept around because what if he did need it later. Even now he's not sure if he'll regret giving it up.

(There may be a number of other books in his bag, just in case.)

2 - An adventure through words

It does not take him longer to assemble a pile of books, stacked around him as he finds a spot more or less out of the way to pour over them. There's quite a variety; some about folklore throughout various worlds, a few specifically on Eorzea and Sharlayan (including a series of memoirs by a certain Count Fortemps), and a few fiction ones thrown in for the inevitable time where his brain cannot handle more data.

Of course, what's in his hands down is his own 'history'- the life and times of G'raha Tia. He's not sure if this changes his theories on what's happening here or not...

3 - Cat nap

Considering Raha has basically not left the library unless he absolutely has to or is cajoled/threatened out, it's probably not surprising that he's fallen asleep amidst a pile of books. Sometimes he's slumped over a stack, sometimes he's tipped back against the bookcase, and sometimes he's full out sprawled on the floor. Maybe now is time for him to actually go home for a bit.
