WHO: Noctis and you!
WHERE: the network.
WHEN: forward-dated to 4/12, 3 AM.
WHAT: gameplay trailer and early access announcement date!
WARNINGS: none in the post itself! comments may touch on Noctis's not-quite-resolved grief, though.
[Like the first time that Noctis posted on the network, this video opens on a beautifully-rendered stylized environment, a little reminiscent of certain Lucian locations. The camera focuses on a stylized cartoon prince, with a tiny little crown upon his brow, prepping his fishing gear before he hops into a boat and starts up the engine. Once he's made his way out into the center of the lake, he settles down and casts out a line, and peaceful music reigns for about four or five seconds before a little ding noise goes off, accompanying an exclamation point appearing over the prince's head.
And then it goes right into gameplay, showing off the game's main fishing mechanic, where the little prince frantically reels in accordance to player input. He gets about three lovingly stylized cartoon fish before his fishing line snaps, sending the player into a menu for customizing the fishing rod. It's clear Noctis has put quite a lot of thought into this, because there's stats for each part of the rod, from the handle to the line and even to the bait used. Once the line's been selected, it's back to the little prince, who casts his line out once more.
Then the music turns to something more determined and frantic, as a flying fish, much bigger and with a few more scars than the real-life flying fish would be, hops out of the water and over the prince's head as if taunting him: catch me if you can. It splashes back into the water and pokes its head out as big block letters flash over its head: Boss Fish: Flying Menace of the Vesperpool.
The fisher prince holds his fishing rod at the ready, then casts it out. The camera cuts to a montage of other "boss fish" with different gimmicks, as well as glimpses of a main questline about a rapidly-approaching feast in the king's honor and small sidequests from different characters, before it settles back onto a final, lingering shot of the prince steering his fishing boat back to the pier where the trailer started, then hauling up a very large bucket of fish and looking very satisfied with himself. As he walks away from the boat, bringing the bucket with him with his fishing rod slung over his shoulder like a baseball bat, the game's title comes in: Fishing Fantasy.
Underneath: Early Access in December 2024.]
