High School End-of-Year Catch-All Log!
WHERE: Kaisou High
WHEN: Throughout May
WHAT: A catch-all log for end of the year High School events!
WARNINGS: None currently
β»
The last month of the school year is always a busy one! Let's do our best and make some lifelong memories!
Spring Concert (May 6th)For the past few weeks, anyone enrolled in music class at Kaisou High School have been hard at work preparing for the spring concert. The music teacher, Elliot Craig, while ordinarily a nice teacher has basically gone all friendly drill sergeant on his students, working them very hard to make sure the concert is the best it can be. Sweat, tears, and possibly blood has been shed throughout the whole process. But now its finally here. The school bands and choirs perform for all their friends and family to see. And other than a huge typical hiccups here and there, it goes pretty well! Perhaps you want to deep dive into your experiences preparing for the concert, or for the big night itself.
Prom (May 7th)With the concert out of the way, it's time for the big dance! This year prom has the theme "A Time to Remember" (whatever that means) and is being held at a dance hall at the Gold Saucer in the entertainment district! Put on your nicest prom dress, grab a date or a friend, and come down to this keystone high school event. There's plenty of space in the venue for students to dance to their favorite school-approved bops or hang out by the wall awkwardly! And of course there's a punch bowl and snacks available that are being watched by teacher chaperones. While gambling is technically illegal for many of the kids, the more crafty kids might find a way to ditch the party and try to check out the other entertainment the Gold Saucer has to offer. Just be careful not to get caught! Detention's in your fate if you don't watch yourself.
Finals (Throughout May)Unfortunately there's two sides of every coin. With all the fun of proms, also comes the pain of finals. Prepare for finals the best way you can - make study groups, guzzle 5-hour energy drinks, pull all-nighters, or get a good night sleep! Finals come in many forms from standard exams to presentations to long essays to the ever dreaded group projects. Some grades have it bad enough to make you want to scream, but try to power through as best as you can! Exams results for classes are posted on the wall outside their classroom, listed by ID number to keep it anonymous, but you can at least you can bring a friend to find out if you achieved that A or are doomed to a semester of summer school.
Graduation & End of the School Year (End of May)Finally once all the finals are said and done, it's time to wrap up the end of the school year. Graduation for the characters in their senior year will take place May 29th. The graduation ceremony is a pretty standard affair with a speech from the Valedictorian and a keynote speaker that is just whoever they could get -- this year being Professor Willow. He gives a very long speech about always being open to exploring and pushing boundaries. It'd be a bold and inspirational speech, but it's undercut by the times he goes off on tangent to talk about Pokemon. So you know, standard graduation affair. Throw your cap in the air and take photos with your friends and family! You did it!
For the rest of the grades that aren't graduating, the last day of school is May 31st. The last week of classes is less actual lessons, and more about cleaning up the school (classrooms, clubrooms, and lockers) as well as going on various field trips such as to the zoo and the park. Students will also get their yearbooks, so you can have your friends sign and wish each other a great summer. On the final day of school, all students are invited to a picnic where you can eat grilled food, sit in the sun, and play frisbee and other sports. Have a great summer everyone!
This is a catch-all log for high school related activities that take place at the end of the year! Follow along with the prompts or make up your own! Talent Shows, school plays, senior parties, senior pranks - you name it! This is meant to be pretty open-ended, so go wild!
Note: The Spring Concert and Prom are taking place in game BEFORE La Llorona starts becoming rather noticeable and the Spirit Gate appears, so you can party in peace.

When she's back, the first thing anyone will notice is her new stereotypical witch hat that she's either unwilling or unable to remove. Or, at least, it looks like a hat to most people, in the same way that her white hair still looks brown to them; to anyone that can see what it really is, if they haven't already seen the network post that went up on the day of Kat's absence from school, it looks like the girl now has literally a pink vaguely hat-shaped dragon head quite literally stuck on top of her own head.
She had tended to keep her distance from most people before, but now she's dialed that particular behavior up even further, which might be a little concerning to people who actually know her. She doesn't bother with going to the concert, and she didn't have any interest in going to prom to begin with. When it comes time for the finals for the year, she just...focuses on that, period, refusing herself time to think about anything else.
If asked if she's alright, she'll insist that she's fine (a lie) and just go right back to whatever she's doing at that moment.]

[Tiera has been visibly excited for this entire thing, fluttering about during rehearsal and occasionally doing little hooting warmups in between classes. She occasionally hits up the other vocalists as well to either practice or occasionally get competitive. Finally, the actual day arrives, and while she's happy to chirp backup, she's even more excited for her solo. It's a strange tune, and her vocals are a mix of English words and birdlike sounds. In this situation, her English is surprisingly clear and unhalting.]
I'll fly to see you soon,
Tu-whit, tu-whit, tu-whooo,
My love, my love that is true.
Graduation
[Honestly, it probably doesn't help that Tiera keeps clapping encouragingly whenever Professor Willow talks more about Pokemon. Also, anyone sitting or standing close to her might notice a litlte someone hiding under her graduation gown...]
If you wanna hang with teacher I guess
[Elliot is at full energy the night of the concert. He doesn't have a moment to sit still leading up to the concert, going around in a suit to check on each student and make sure they're doing warm ups and that their instruments are properly tuned.]
Got everything ready?
[During the concert itself he'll be the one conducting as well as announcing the different performances when there isn't a student announcer. He's got a pretty strong stage presence despite his size...and choice of suit. The music stage is his place to shine, even if he's not the one playing.
Finally once everything's done, he'll be the last one to leave. He'll help clean any instruments and put them away, as well clean up the auditorium area. He seems pretty satisfied all things considered]
II. Prom
[While he didn't have much to do with the prom planning, he did agree to be a chaperone. He shows up in the same questionable suit that he wore during the concert -- let's face it, it's probably his only suit. But he spends most of the night near the walls and occasionally doing sweeps of the area.
You can approach him and talk to him, he'd be open to it-- but also, why are you spending your prom with a teacher?]
After the concert
But she can be found sitting on an empty backstage chair, looking... very tired, almost like she's dozing off. She snaps out of it and perks up when she sees Elliot come backstage.]
SeΓ±or Craig! What did you think?
no subject
Still, he'll have a bright smile as he approaches her]
You did wonderful, Mirabel! Great work!
Worn out?
no subject
Gracias! And yeah... all that singing and dancing took it out of me, I think.

Uh- yeah. Yeah. Pretty sure I'm set.

Good! Haha, I have to say Varian, I'm pretty impressed by all the work you put in this past week.
no subject
Thanks! I just wanted to be sure I was keeping up with everyone else. [Or going past them. MOstly going past them.] It wasn't so hard once I started to figure it all out.

[She sings beautifully, she dances gracefully. Mirabel's performance in the spring concert is a total success. When students were taking their places to perform, she was admittedly a little nervous. Still nervous, even when she saw the faces of her family in the sea of parents and families that came to watch their kids.Β
But the concert was a success, and whatever stage fright she had faded when it came her time to sing.Β
Once the concert ends, the students file backstage and out of the auditoriumΒ to go meet their families. Mirabel starts to head out too, but a sudden bout of exhaustion hits her like a truck. She leans against the wall for a moment, feeling suddenly weak.]
Nonono, not now. Not now.Β
[She is not letting this ruin her big day. After a moment of weakness, she pushes herself back up and heads out to greet her family and fellow performers.Β
She can rest when she gets home.]
[Prom]
[Mirabel is sporting a very pretty prom dress, that she took and stylized some of herself. This is her first prom ever - since prom wasn't ever a thing in the Encanto. But a party is a party, so Miraboo's got her party pants on!Β
If she knows you, if she doesn't, she'll approach you.]
Care to dance?Β
[Prom]
Luz was mostly just drinking punch and being polite when she spied, in her opinion, the star of the evening.
Whoa. So this was how Mirabel dressed at a formal event? Wow. Geek chic. Whoever dated THAT girl was going to be pretty darn lucky!
"Oh! Me?! Well, sure!"
It had been awhile since Luz had actually been to a dance since Grom, so why not?
no subject
βThis isnβt really my style of music butβ¦ Iβve been learning some new dance moves since I got here!β

Concert
When she finally finds Mirabel, though, she can't help a frown, noticing something seemed a little off with the other girl. ]
Hey, Mirabel? You okay?
no subject
She barely registers Moana talking to her.]
Yeah - yeah, Iβm all right! Just a little tired from the performance.
[Everythingβs fine!
β¦ Everything is not fine.]
no subject
Maybe you should sit down for a bit then. You're looking pretty run down.

[ While Moana is usually pretty easygoing overall, she is very focused when it comes to preparing for the spring concert. She is no stranger to hard work and performing before an audience, after all, so she is very serious and dedicated to putting her best foot forward for the show.
She is also no stranger to nerves, despite being on stage countless times. The feeling of butterflies before a performance never seem to go away, no matter how often she's done this. Though she does figure that it has something to do with the fact that she was singing this time, and while there is a bit of dancing it isn't the kind she's most familiar with.
But despite her initial unease, she easily slips into a role of professionalism by the time it's her turn to take the stage. She pours her heart into her song, something personal that reminded her so much of home, and moves with all the grace developed over her many years of dancing.
Once the concert is over, she joins her fellow students with a final bow on stage before everyone shuffles behind the curtain, exchanging congratulations for jobs well done and excitement for successful performances. At some point she does go to greet her parents, as well as chatting with some of the other students. Then she helps to clean up the auditorium for a while before heading home. ]
B. Prom
[ There had been a lot of last-minute planning, but somehow Moana had managed to organize the large group of people going to prom together. She made sure that everyone at least knew someone in the group, as well as introduced some people who she thought might get along, so that no one would feel left out.
And now, dressed up and hair loosely pulled back, Moana is ready to have a good time. The group met a bit early to have dinner, then headed to the venue for the dance.
And while Moana isn't necessarily a social butterfly, she does move between people of the group to check on everyone often, making sure they're having fun and doing okay. When a particularly good song starts playing, she'll grin and turn to the closest person. ]
Hey, you wanna dance?
C. End of the Year (Wildcard)
[ After prom there is probably a lot of stress preparing for finals, though Moana does her best not to show it. She will reach out to others if she notices them stressing, though, and try to help out however she can.
By the time the last day of school comes, there's less excitement and more exhausted relief. Moana attends the picnic at the last day of school, but she definitely seems a bit more subdued than usual. ]
[Prom]
What she had NOT been expecting is to be asked to dance, particularly by the girl who had essentially given her the Ok to drop by and bd comfortable here].
Oh! Well sure, ok!
no subject
I'm glad you were able to come! These kinds of things are always a lot better with friends.
no subject
Oh yeah, I agree! Granted, I haven't gone to school with you guys so I don't have as much an attachment, but this prom is still nice enough! Nothing's magical happens at these things, right?
[Luz was just thinking of Grom back on the Boiling Isles. That was its own brand of strangeness].

[Varian's only really here because Moana convinced him to show up. Social gatherings have never really been Varian's style. It's not that he doesn't like other people or anything, he just feels there are always more important things to do with his time. He has to build a portal to get out of here, and if he's stuck here for a while, finals have been an ominous ticking clock looming over him. He has too much to worry about than hanging around at some party.
He's wearing a pretty nice outfit- something a little close to what he's used to back home, at least, while he mingles at the back of the room. He has a glass of punch, staring into it rather than at the partygoers. Eventually, if someone comes close enough, he'll make an awkward attempt at conversation. ]
So uh... is this a thing that happens every year? Just- a party before we've even passed the exams they've set us? Isn't it kind of like putting the cart before the horse? Celebrating before we've actually achieved anything.
[Why no, Varian doesn't know what stress relief is, thanks for asking!]
Finals
[Elliot has expressly told Varian that he can catch up on school in the summer. That expecting himself to learn 2 centuries' worth of information in the space of about two weeks is too much for any person to put on themselves. Naturally, Varian does plan to attend summer school- largely so he can cram more learning into his days than before. Who wouldn't want to do that? Wow.
He's currently sitting in the library, surrounded by books. His hair is more frazzled than usual as he flicks frantically between various books, occasionally making distressed noises. If you're unfortunate enough to come near this little chaos storm, he looks desperately your way.]
HEY! Um! I wondered if you could help? I'm still really confused about the country's formation? Like, the whole...getting rid of the monarchy thing? I'm still trying to understand how it works?
Prom
Well if you wanna get technical, this is the last party for the senior class before they graduate, since they pretty much don't have finals anymore. So we're celebrating with them, since they're about to leave and head off into the world.
Besides, this also gives us a chance to relax and have a bit of fun, so that we can be ready for the final month ahead.
no subject
Oh. Well. I guess it makes sense for them, then. So...what, they invite us out of the goodness of their hearts?
[He didn't mean to make that sound as sarcastic as it came out but here they are.]
I don't know how people find parties relaxing. Like, reading, or science, that's relaxing. This is...weird. And awkward.

Prom
He likes parties, normally. Well - Finn likes parties. He... he supposes he likes them. Under better circumstances.
But he's here and he knows basically no one, and he's getting weird looks about his lack of shoes and the bear hat, so he slinks on around the edges of the main part of the party until he spies Varian. Then he makes a beeline over, hands shoved into his pockets.]
You don't need a reason to have a party, dude. [He rocks back and forth on his heels.] Dunno how proms normally work, though. This is my first one.
no subject
Mine too, and I don't know, I don't really get parties to begin with.
[He tucks some hair behind his ear, his smile softening as he feels a flash of awkwardness.]
You- uh. It suits you. The suit...I mean. Looks good.
