The last month of the school year is always a busy one! Let's do our best and make some lifelong memories!
Spring Concert (May 6th)For the past few weeks, anyone enrolled in music class at Kaisou High School have been hard at work preparing for the spring concert. The music teacher, Elliot Craig, while ordinarily a nice teacher has basically gone all friendly drill sergeant on his students, working them very hard to make sure the concert is the best it can be. Sweat, tears, and possibly blood has been shed throughout the whole process. But now its finally here. The school bands and choirs perform for all their friends and family to see. And other than a huge typical hiccups here and there, it goes pretty well! Perhaps you want to deep dive into your experiences preparing for the concert, or for the big night itself.
Prom (May 7th)With the concert out of the way, it's time for the big dance! This year prom has the theme "A Time to Remember" (whatever that means) and is being held at a dance hall at the Gold Saucer in the entertainment district! Put on your nicest prom dress, grab a date or a friend, and come down to this keystone high school event. There's plenty of space in the venue for students to dance to their favorite school-approved bops or hang out by the wall awkwardly! And of course there's a punch bowl and snacks available that are being watched by teacher chaperones. While gambling is technically illegal for many of the kids, the more crafty kids might find a way to ditch the party and try to check out the other entertainment the Gold Saucer has to offer. Just be careful not to get caught! Detention's in your fate if you don't watch yourself.
Finals (Throughout May)Unfortunately there's two sides of every coin. With all the fun of proms, also comes the pain of finals. Prepare for finals the best way you can - make study groups, guzzle 5-hour energy drinks, pull all-nighters, or get a good night sleep! Finals come in many forms from standard exams to presentations to long essays to the ever dreaded group projects. Some grades have it bad enough to make you want to scream, but try to power through as best as you can! Exams results for classes are posted on the wall outside their classroom, listed by ID number to keep it anonymous, but you can at least you can bring a friend to find out if you achieved that A or are doomed to a semester of summer school.
Graduation & End of the School Year (End of May)Finally once all the finals are said and done, it's time to wrap up the end of the school year. Graduation for the characters in their senior year will take place May 29th. The graduation ceremony is a pretty standard affair with a speech from the Valedictorian and a keynote speaker that is just whoever they could get -- this year being Professor Willow. He gives a very long speech about always being open to exploring and pushing boundaries. It'd be a bold and inspirational speech, but it's undercut by the times he goes off on tangent to talk about Pokemon. So you know, standard graduation affair. Throw your cap in the air and take photos with your friends and family! You did it!
For the rest of the grades that aren't graduating, the last day of school is May 31st. The last week of classes is less actual lessons, and more about cleaning up the school (classrooms, clubrooms, and lockers) as well as going on various field trips such as to the zoo and the park. Students will also get their yearbooks, so you can have your friends sign and wish each other a great summer. On the final day of school, all students are invited to a picnic where you can eat grilled food, sit in the sun, and play frisbee and other sports. Have a great summer everyone!
This is a catch-all log for high school related activities that take place at the end of the year! Follow along with the prompts or make up your own! Talent Shows, school plays, senior parties, senior pranks - you name it! This is meant to be pretty open-ended, so go wild!
Note: The Spring Concert and Prom are taking place in game BEFORE La Llorona starts becoming rather noticeable and the Spirit Gate appears, so you can party in peace.

[Just long, long term adventuring.
Fern glances about before following Varian into the lab. It mostly looks like another classroom, though the layout and cabinetry is a bit different to allow for proper sciencing.]
If you can't I can probably cut through it.
[Speaking of swords, he forms one in his hand! How handy!!]
no subject
[Varian's been excitedly studying some of the lab equipment, wondering if he could liberate some of that without being noticed, too. He's pretty sure he could manage it, they probably won't miss one alembic, right? ]
What? You can cut it? With wh-
[He looks up and yup, there he is with the sword again. Just the sword he can create in his own hand. He kind of stares at it for a moment.]
Oh- r-right. You can just cut the lock. With the sword. So you're just gonna- swing the sword. To do that.
[He takes a step back to give Fern some room to do the sword thing, nearly knocking a lab stool over in the process. He catches it with a soft oops, setting it back up and then...awkwardly sitting on it.
Because he's fine and smooth and nothing is happening. He's definitely not having any weird feelings about Fern hitting anything with a sword. No sir. ]
Um- so I'll uh. Let you do that.
no subject
He frowns a little, lowering the sword.]
You okay? Uh, if the sword thing is too weird you can try to pick the lock. It's ok.
no subject
NO! [Okay, that was way too loud and he winces. Be cool.] I mean, no. No, it's okay, it's not too weird at all. Nope. I uh- just think it's...really cool. Is all. Um, carry on?
no subject
So that very abrupt 'No!' make Fern jump and he can't help but stare. What the heck??]
Uh... alright. If you're sure it's cool and not... weird.
[He turns, reforming the sword in one hand. Then he flicks the blade effortlessly at the lock, cleanly slicing it in half.]
no subject
[He doesn't FEEL totally fine. He feels awkward and clumsy and is suddenly super aware of all his limbs!!
He watches Fern slice the lock in half and a little whistle escapes him of its own volition. ]
Oh wow, um. That's really, really cool.
[He slooooowly slides off the stool to the door, aware he's probably still blushing a little.]
Okay! Let's get some chemicals! Maybe I can show you a non-explosive experiment too? Something that won't attract attention. I mean, if you want.
no subject
At least he gets to cut something? That makes him happier, and he even feels a nice, confident, floaty feeling at the whistle and compliment. If there's one thing he knows he can still be proud of, it's his sword skills.]
Thanks, bro.
[He lets the sword sink back into his palm, grinning a tiny bit as he moves out of the way.]
Sure, yeah, that'd be cool. [Chances are he won't understand any of it but that's okay, he's used to hanging out with nerds while they do science.]
no subject
Anytime, thanks for the help!
[Okay, he's pretty sure he's got control on his blush and the weird, awkward feeling in his chest as he gets into the chemical cupboard. It reeks in there of various chemicals, but it's the best smell in the world to Varian. He puts the acid and the ethanol in his backpack first- got to make sure he has THAT prize, before scouring the rest, looking for something easy, fun that will not attract the security guard's attention, but also maybe impress the other boy. He finds he really wants to impress Fern. ]
Oh! Okay, cool, this is something we can do.
[He pulls out a few bottles and boxes of various chemicals, and a bunsen burner, setting them up on one of the desks. He gets the bunsen burner going (god it's so cool to just be able to MAKE FURE like this!!) and turns to grin at Fern, wide and excited.]
Right! So this is a regular fire, right? Just...normal, boring fire colour? Buuuuut with a little dash of copper sulfate... [he finds the right container and taps some onto the flame- suddenly it turns green] BOOM! Green fire! Aaaaand if I add some potassium chloride... [again, he adds some to the fire and this time it turns purple] - we got purple! Cool huh?
no subject
As Varian sets up everything on the desk he wanders over, leaning back against another desk to watch. He does make sure to keep leaning away from the fire, just in case.]
Oh, yeah! Really cool!
[It isn't that great. He's seem different coloured fire back in Ooo loads of times. It's a pretty basic magic thing.
Buuut Varian is so enthusiastic that he refrains from mentioning that. Said enthusiasm is infectious, and he doesn't want to be a killjoy. Who cares what can happen in Ooo? Varian is using science to change the colour of fire here, and that's neat.
This is neat. Hanging out is neat. He grins too, a darker tint of green appearing on his cheeks.]
Is it deadlier when it's purple? Or like, poison? [Purple things are usually poison this is a fact.]
no subject
This is fun! He's having genuine fun maybe for the first time since he got here. He grins happily, dropping some more copper sulfate in the fire to make it green again ]
Hah, no, not really. I mean you can even eat potassium chloride. It's basically less tasty salt.
no subject
Cool!
[Fern doesn't care about salt or salt-like materials, but he does care about how much fun Varian is having. This is incredibly dorky, but the other boy is thrilled, and that makes him feel weirdly giddy, too. He leans in a little on his chair, watching Varian more than he is the fire.]
So making the fire rad is the best way to use it, huh?
no subject
Varian only realises he's being actively watched when he turns around again. Once he does, a little blush crosses his cheeks as he feels his heart do that lil' flip-flop thing again. ]
Oh! W-well, pretty much. I mean, it can be used in medicines, too, but the fire thing is definitely the coolest thing it can do. So...um- are there any other kind of experiments you'd like to see?
[They are absolutely gonna get caught by security if they stick around much longer, but he's genuinely enjoying this and doesn't really want it to stop. ]
no subject
I got no clue, dude! You're the science expert here. Can we burn stuff? Does the fire burn any different than normal?
[As he asks a couple small forget-me-nots are sprouting on his hat.]
no subject
Well, I guess we could burn...stuff. It doesn't really burn any differently, it's just differently coloured. I can show you some exploding flint though? That's pretty...
[He's finally looked up and noticed the forget-me-nots. He points at them, in case Fern missed them.]
H-hey, you grew some Myosotis sylvatica.
no subject
Myowhat? Oh - [He glances upwards, reaching up to yank the flowers out of his hat sheepishly.]
Yeah, that happens sometimes. Stuff just grows on me.
no subject
[The first, rebellious thought that comes to his mind is adorable which makes him blush anew.]
Uh- that's really cool. Probably super useful too. Can-can you control what you grow?
no subject
I... guess it's useful. Sometimes. And yeah, I can. Mostly? It kinda depends on how I'm feeling. [He gives a vague waggle of his hand.] Sometimes my body just does whatever.
no subject
[Varian, don't do science experiments on your friends.]
I-I mean, if you want to. I just think it's...cool. Is all.
no subject
Sure, yeah. If you think it's interesting enough to wanna run tests, then let's do it. You probably aren't gonna find anything good, but just the whole scientific method biz is fun for you, right?
no subject
[That's...not quite how he wanted that to come out. He clears his throat.]
It's very fun, and you don't know- being able to grow plants is really useful! So many of them can be used for all kinds of things- it's an incredible ability.
no subject
Riiight.
He looks away when Varian clears his throat.]
It's not that great. [Why would anyone think it's incredible?? Varian, you're weird.] But if you think you'll get something outta it, then we can do whatever.
no subject
Of course, it is. It's like...wow, say someone is really hurt, you'd be able to grow just what that person needed to help them. And man, I am running low on so many supplies here for my alchemy and you can just...make them. Like that. It's pretty cool to me.
no subject
Oh. Well, whatever you need for alchemy stuff just let me know. I can't guarantee anything I grow will be any good, but I can try growing whatever supplies you need for free.
no subject
[Sorry, Fern, he's here to be your own personal cheerleader if you want him to or not.]
And I can give you something in return for them. Like...is there anything you need building? Anything at all? I can do that!
no subject
Still, it's pretty nice having someone who believes in him. It's vastly different from Ooo.]
Not really. Plants don't need much, y'know? We just kind of exist, like useless blobs.
