[With no context, no preamble, no nothing. Early on the last weekend of August, Eunie greeted the network with a message.]

im goin to the beach. Maybe have a little fun there to get the mind off all the bullshit

🌭 getting grilled

[So ended the text one humble weekend morning. Eunie didn’t have specific plans for this, she just sort of ran off and invited the whole app to the beach without considering the logistics. She did say to bring what you want but she was social enough to arrange some things for a bit of a beach gathering.

It wasn’t a lot, a few coolers and BBQ grills people can hand around and either loiter or cook at if they have the capability. If they don’t though they will be removed from the grill. But maybe that’s part of the fun.]

[Aside from the coolers, there’s obviously the beautiful sea people can surf or swim in all they want! The water is fine, a little cold but in a way that felt refreshing from the hottest days of the last legs of summertime. The tides were even and there was no real risk of drifting away, but don’t go too far out unless you’re a strong swimmer. There are lifeguards on duty but we’ve had enough trauma this month, we don’t need a drowning scare. Or do, I’m not your mom.]

⛱️ avoid the burn

[Not a swimmer? Well then catch up on your tan under the share umbrellas and towels laid on the sand. Or your sunburn. It is a bright and sunny weekend after all so no matter what you’re catching up on, get your sunscreen on too.

It’s also just as good for a little break from the swimming and the music to steady yourself before you head out or head back into the water or some piers you can walk down on your own for the same experience to just catch the sea breeze while staying up and about.]

🏐 bolleyvall bapped

[That being said, Eunie was not joking about there being volleyball. There are a few nets on the beach for a few different games to go on at once. Organize a tournament or just play casually. Remember though that there are normies on the beach and any Earth Shattering volleyball spikes might cost some property damage claim money. This isn’t death soccer, people.

Who am I kidding, this is going to turn into a disaster either way. Go ham, challenge the bird girl or just watch the chaos unfold and place your bets, kids.]

🎇 bonfire lit up your life

[As the day winded down and night settled on the beach, some folks were headed home or have gone there already to get the sand out of their shorts. But those who stuck around will get the pleasure of sitting by a bonfire not me as they bid a fond farewell to the summertime and summer vacation.

Or get in touch with their inner arsonist in a less destructive way.

Sit, relax and socialize, take in the ambiance of the twilight by the fire, roast some marshmallows or hot dogs. Maybe decide to camp out for the night. It is a pretty peaceful time, and it’s these small moments of calm with friends and loved ones we have to cherish the most when in recovery, right?]

No think, she definitely knows some socially awkward and/or oblivious types. Really if these two ever need to kill a lot of time together, Zulius should just ask Ritsuka about the weirdos she knows back home. There's only, oh, about three hundred of them, in assorted flavors of weird. She'd have stories for days.

"This city has a whole bunch of them," he has a fondness to his tone. "I've got a whole gaggle of them, they're adorable, really."

"Sounds like you have a lot of good friends, then."

That's what she's assuming, at least, since that's sure what she thinks of all her weirdos back at Chaldea.

"Oh, yeah, I've got a whole ton of them. SUPER packed social diary! I almost never get any me time."

He voices it like it's a burden, but it absolutely is not. He hates being by himself and loves having a million people around him at all times.

"Must be a lot of fun though, right?"

Again, she's kind of familiar with being in that sort of situation, even if she's not quite that level of needing people all the time.

"Well, lemmie put it this way, I'm never bored!"

Zulius would probably expire if he had to spend more than 8 hours with only himself for company.

He sounds so... delighted about that, Ritsuka can't help but grin.

"Always something fun and exciting? Or at least entertaining..."

"Why not all three?!" he cackles, delighted.

Because you know, why not go ALL out on it!

"I dunno, that sounds like a lot... You sure you can handle all that?"

He's clearly having so much fun, she can't help but tease a little.

He snorts in amusement.

"Trust me, Kid, I am way capable of handling that."

He resists the urge to make a lewd joke about it. Even he has some lines, it turns out.

As if she hasn't doubtless heard plenty of dirty jokes before.

"Weeelll, if you say so."

She believes him, she's just the type to tease as a form of friendship.

"Though sometimes just relaxing like this is fun too, right?"

"Oh yeah. Ergo, this whole thing," he waves around them. "After the whole-ass month this has been, I think everyone needs to seriously decompress."

"Yeah, it's been a lot for most people here, huh?"

Some much more than others, even if Calamity Ganon sure had been an intense bossfight too.

"This was definitely a good idea, though."

"I guess dealing with a kidnapping cult of jackasses will do that to people."

He's still pretty mad about Krusnik, even if most of them are dead now. They threatened his herd and that will not stand.

"Right! I love it! It's just what we need."

"I think that means everyone needs to do something like this again, right? But just for fun, not because a lot of stuff happened."

And maybe not a beach party, since it is pretty much the end of summer already.

"Oh, TOTES!" he claps his hands together excitedly. "I mean, Spooky Season is not that far away. We can have a GREAT party for it."

It takes about half a second for Ritsuka to realize that by 'spooky season' he means Halloween, given that it's still an entire month until October and that was not even something she'd been thinking about yet. When she does make the connection though, there's a very, very brief moment where her expression can only be described as a thousand yard stare, though she almost immediately recovers.

"Oh, yeah, that could be fun! Do you usually do something for Halloween?"

Please tell her there's no idol-wannabe dragons involved.......

Ritsuka is about to learn how very much Halloween is a beloved time of year.

"Uh yeah! It's basically Gay Christmas!!! It's second ONLY to Pride for the must-have in any calendar," he's clearly excited as he bounces from hoof to hoof. "I always have a BIG party and we have a bunch of shows on- Rocky Horror is always a big one, everyone LOVES that."

She'd appreciate it much, much more if she could actually have one where things didn't get weird. And didn't maim her poor eardrums.

"That big a deal, huh?" That sure is some palpable excitement there. "I don't think I've seen a Halloween party like that before..."

Please don't ask her what her last several Halloweens were like. She'd rather continue not thinking about it thanks.

Zulius doesn't have high hopes for it not to be weird. This city is full of weird, all the time. But he'll be damned if he's gonna let that stop him. (Until it abruptly does, anyway).

"Well, Honey, that just means you haven't LIVED yet! You're probs too young to go to the bar," he squints, yeah probably. "Buuuut you can totes have a seat at RHPS, which is JUST as amazing."

So far even Kaisou has been pretty par for the course, or even not that weird, by Ritsuka's standards, so who knows. Maybe whatever happens will be tame by comparison!

"Yeah? I guess I'll have to check it out then."

... Well, assuming events allow anyone to even be in a state to appreciate a party at that point, but here's hoping!
