2; THE BEACH EPISODE
WHO: Everyone!!
WHERE: Starting on the network, then The Beach!
WHEN: Forward dated to the last weekend of August
WHAT: Beach Episode!!
WARNINGS: None hopefully??
[With no context, no preamble, no nothing. Early on the last weekend of August, Eunie greeted the network with a message.]
text; un: fortuneclovers
hey
Eunie here, changed my un
so this month was fuckin awful
im goin to the beach. Maybe have a little fun there to get the mind off all the bullshit
if you’re seein this youre invited too. come on and lets have a good time, bring what you want
Oh yeah
im bringin a volleyball for the nets
anyone who wants a game come at me. >:)
🌭 getting grilled
[So ended the text one humble weekend morning. Eunie didn’t have specific plans for this, she just sort of ran off and invited the whole app to the beach without considering the logistics. She did say to bring what you want but she was social enough to arrange some things for a bit of a beach gathering.
It wasn’t a lot, a few coolers and BBQ grills people can hand around and either loiter or cook at if they have the capability. If they don’t though they will be removed from the grill. But maybe that’s part of the fun.]
🌊 ocean owned
[Aside from the coolers, there’s obviously the beautiful sea people can surf or swim in all they want! The water is fine, a little cold but in a way that felt refreshing from the hottest days of the last legs of summertime. The tides were even and there was no real risk of drifting away, but don’t go too far out unless you’re a strong swimmer. There are lifeguards on duty but we’ve had enough trauma this month, we don’t need a drowning scare. Or do, I’m not your mom.]
⛱️ avoid the burn
[Not a swimmer? Well then catch up on your tan under the share umbrellas and towels laid on the sand. Or your sunburn. It is a bright and sunny weekend after all so no matter what you’re catching up on, get your sunscreen on too.
It’s also just as good for a little break from the swimming and the music to steady yourself before you head out or head back into the water or some piers you can walk down on your own for the same experience to just catch the sea breeze while staying up and about.]
🏐 bolleyvall bapped
[That being said, Eunie was not joking about there being volleyball. There are a few nets on the beach for a few different games to go on at once. Organize a tournament or just play casually. Remember though that there are normies on the beach and any Earth Shattering volleyball spikes might cost some property damage claim money. This isn’t death soccer, people.
Who am I kidding, this is going to turn into a disaster either way. Go ham, challenge the bird girl or just watch the chaos unfold and place your bets, kids.]
🎇 bonfire lit up your life
[As the day winded down and night settled on the beach, some folks were headed home or have gone there already to get the sand out of their shorts. But those who stuck around will get the pleasure of sitting by a bonfirenot me as they bid a fond farewell to the summertime and summer vacation.
Or get in touch with their inner arsonist in a less destructive way.
Sit, relax and socialize, take in the ambiance of the twilight by the fire, roast some marshmallows or hot dogs. Maybe decide to camp out for the night. It is a pretty peaceful time, and it’s these small moments of calm with friends and loved ones we have to cherish the most when in recovery, right?]

[You're walking along the beach, minding your own business. You have the feeling of being watched, like a shadow is cast over you and danger is present. Or maybe it THRILLS you.
YOU TURN YOUR HEAD.
There's a 5'3 bird girl grinning at you. She is holding a volleyball.
She is expecting something and comes outright and says what.]
We playing ball or what? [Well?]
no subject
She turns to see a woman slightly shorter than her with... were those wings?... on her head. She recognizes her from the network, having seen her face around. Her name doesn't come to mind though.
But... that's not important. That volleyball is.]
Oh, heck yes.
Let's go!
no subject
Hell yeah, wanna go 1v1 for practice first?
no subject
Let's do it.
[She reaches up to adjust her normal pigtails to a pony tail as she walks towards the court.]
What's your skill level?
no subject
no subject
I should be able to keep up.
[:D]
no subject
[And, she's smiling! It's a little forced and a little terrifying, but she's acting like a human being!]
Yes, I'd like to join you.
no subject
Hey, you made it! Nice!
Think we could get the others to get in on this game too? [Yes, she's proposing the other team members get on this. Yes, she is aware of the danger. No she does not care.]
no subject
I believe it is worth a try. It would be fun.
[It would be chaos.]
no subject
Sweet, let's go track 'em down. You ever played volleyball before, Ei? [Said starting down the beach to look for more victi-- players and gesturing for Ei to follow.]
i
He is not dressed for volleyball. Man's wearing black in the fucking sun and Doc Martens. Please.
He looks at the volleyball. Looks at her. There is... a slight draw of his lips downward, like a scowl he won't commit to.
And then he starts walking faster. Long leg privilege let's go.]
no subject
no subject
... He'll just run faster.]
no subject
Fly. Hover. And not be slowed down by the fact they're on sand.]
You shouldn'tve ran now I ain't gonna stop till I get ya!
no subject
You infernal woman—! Can't you see that I am busy?!
no subject
Busy doing what? Playing old AMV's in your head while you get a heat stroke?
no subject
[Blade, you know that never works. But he does wave the controller around like it'll help drive his point home.
It'd be a shame if someone took it.]
no subject
What if she just picked up more speed getting right up next to Blade and just.]
Yoink. [Snatched it right up.
Then flew juuuuust slightly out of his range.]
no subject
H—hey!
[He is a 25 year old man who is trying to jump and failing miserably. He's six feet tall and not an inch more. Fuck!!!]
If you destroy that, [he growls,] I will make you regret it.
[tbf he does make weapons for a living but also he is definitely outmatched here...
On the other hand, he has a magic sword and wings shoved into the corner of his living room and he's regretting not bringing either.]
no subject
Come on and play a game, just one! Then I'll give it back. It won't kill ya. And aren't you burning up with all that on?
no subject
He can tell when this is a battle he's gonna lose, though... He glares for a long moment, but then he relents.]
... Fine, you win. I'll play.
[He thinks he remembers volleyball? There was an anime. He watched it in the hospital. But when she mentions his clothes, he looks a little uncomfortable, almost. Not making eye contact.]
I can handle it. [How does he put this.] ... The sight of me tends to make most people recoil. That's why I covered up.
[Yep, a man like him. He thinks he's hideous.]
no subject
Awesome! I'll let you serve 'n all. [Serving was important in that anime, wasn't it? She hasn't watched anime unless it was on public access TV. At that aversion of the eyes though she lightened up just a little.]
Whaaaat? Oh, come off it. You're a good lookin' guy and whatever people say against that can shove it. If you play like that you really ARE gonna catch heat stroke, mate.
no subject
... You had better not scream, then.
[She'll understand what he means when he unbuttons his shirt down the front and shrugs it off his shoulders. Pale as he is, he's littered with scars. Some of them look to be burns, some shrapnel, some made by proper weapons, but none of them are older than a year. There are more scars on his arms, though the vast majority look to have been made by something sharp. His left arm bears the worst of it, and the bandages there look rather recent-- and a little bloody, too.
He just looks resigned.]
Let's go before I change my mind.
no subject
She didn't scream seeing how scarred up Blade was, but the look on her face said a lot. She went from being playfully teasing, to a frown seeing how beaten up this guy was. He looked like he hasn't been out of a hospital for that long. She was still a student, but she still had a medic's eye.
She didn't do much more than sigh and give a shrug.]
I'm a medic, you won't see me screaming at that. [Said putting a hand on her hip, giving Blade a full head to toe scan. A narrowing of her eyes as if to imply they're not done discussing this.
Then starting for the other side of the net. It was time for fun, not work.]
Alright, ready when you are. Don't hold back on my account, I'll be pissed if you do!
no subject
[Despite having normal human ears at the moment, he gives the impression of a depressed shaggy dog feeling guilty about something. Maybe that's just the eternal raincloud hanging over his head.
He takes his position on the other side of the net.]
You'd better not go easy on me either, girl.
[He smiles. It isn't nice. If she's gonna drag him the hell out here then he's going to give her a hard time... or try. He can't fly, though.
She's letting him serve, so he weighs the ball for a moment. Then he hops it up in the air, clasps his hands together, and serves it over the net. It goes pretty far. He's got arms!]
