2; THE BEACH EPISODE
WHO: Everyone!!
WHERE: Starting on the network, then The Beach!
WHEN: Forward dated to the last weekend of August
WHAT: Beach Episode!!
WARNINGS: None hopefully??
[With no context, no preamble, no nothing. Early on the last weekend of August, Eunie greeted the network with a message.]
text; un: fortuneclovers
hey
Eunie here, changed my un
so this month was fuckin awful
im goin to the beach. Maybe have a little fun there to get the mind off all the bullshit
if you’re seein this youre invited too. come on and lets have a good time, bring what you want
Oh yeah
im bringin a volleyball for the nets
anyone who wants a game come at me. >:)
🌭 getting grilled
[So ended the text one humble weekend morning. Eunie didn’t have specific plans for this, she just sort of ran off and invited the whole app to the beach without considering the logistics. She did say to bring what you want but she was social enough to arrange some things for a bit of a beach gathering.
It wasn’t a lot, a few coolers and BBQ grills people can hand around and either loiter or cook at if they have the capability. If they don’t though they will be removed from the grill. But maybe that’s part of the fun.]
🌊 ocean owned
[Aside from the coolers, there’s obviously the beautiful sea people can surf or swim in all they want! The water is fine, a little cold but in a way that felt refreshing from the hottest days of the last legs of summertime. The tides were even and there was no real risk of drifting away, but don’t go too far out unless you’re a strong swimmer. There are lifeguards on duty but we’ve had enough trauma this month, we don’t need a drowning scare. Or do, I’m not your mom.]
⛱️ avoid the burn
[Not a swimmer? Well then catch up on your tan under the share umbrellas and towels laid on the sand. Or your sunburn. It is a bright and sunny weekend after all so no matter what you’re catching up on, get your sunscreen on too.
It’s also just as good for a little break from the swimming and the music to steady yourself before you head out or head back into the water or some piers you can walk down on your own for the same experience to just catch the sea breeze while staying up and about.]
🏐 bolleyvall bapped
[That being said, Eunie was not joking about there being volleyball. There are a few nets on the beach for a few different games to go on at once. Organize a tournament or just play casually. Remember though that there are normies on the beach and any Earth Shattering volleyball spikes might cost some property damage claim money. This isn’t death soccer, people.
Who am I kidding, this is going to turn into a disaster either way. Go ham, challenge the bird girl or just watch the chaos unfold and place your bets, kids.]
🎇 bonfire lit up your life
[As the day winded down and night settled on the beach, some folks were headed home or have gone there already to get the sand out of their shorts. But those who stuck around will get the pleasure of sitting by a bonfirenot me as they bid a fond farewell to the summertime and summer vacation.
Or get in touch with their inner arsonist in a less destructive way.
Sit, relax and socialize, take in the ambiance of the twilight by the fire, roast some marshmallows or hot dogs. Maybe decide to camp out for the night. It is a pretty peaceful time, and it’s these small moments of calm with friends and loved ones we have to cherish the most when in recovery, right?]

[It wasn't often that Elliot got a chance to go out to the beach, and he did like Eunie... so when he got the invite, he was happy to join!
But unfortunately, Elliot is the kind of guy that tries to help. And even more unfortunately, while he was extremely skilled in the kitchen - the grill was a beast he could never tame. So if you tried to order some meat from him, well...after some panicked noises while cooking and a lot more flames than usual--
What's left on the plate is a very blackened and rock hard thing that probably used to be meat. He seems pretty embarrassed]
S-Sorry about that. I was really hoping I'd get the hang of it this time...
🌊 Ocean Owned
[Elliot knew how to swim, but he wasn't the strongest swimmer out there. So he sticks to not going past knee deep as he enjoys the cool ocean water. To entertain himself, he's practicing his water magic by making the waves move around him in different patterns and shapes. He's extremely adept at it... or rather it's a sign of just how much he's practiced. ]
🎇 Bonfire Lit up your Life
[It's nighttime and it's time to enjoy a nice bonfire. This brings back memories to camping trips during his teen years, as well as a bonfire in his past life. Happy memories, for the most part, so he's pretty relaxed.
If anyone's interested in roasting marshmallows, he's happy to skewer some up for people. ]
Hehe, this should hopefully go better than the grill....
[Hopefully]
Getting Grilled
...I didn't even know you could do that to meat. [He's just going to put that to one side. He is not eating that. He values his teeth and digestive system.] I mean, honestly? I probs couldn't have done any better? If it helps?
no subject
That does help! I thought maybe I'd be able to figure it out this time, but... not so much. [...] I think there's some fruit and ice cream I can grab for you instead?
no subject
[He's pretty sure that'd crack a skull!!]
I burned a muffin in a microwave once. I was just heating it up and turns out you can do that for too long! Who knew! [How this man has survived into his late thirties is nothing short of an actual miracle.] You know what, I'll take it! Those don't have to go anywhere near the grill!
no subject
[A joke, really! But he'll work on gathering up that fruit and putting it in a bowl for Zulius]
...Er, how long in the microwave did you put it?
no subject
[He's definitely teasing. He gives Elliot a little wink-wonk to show it. ]
Uhhhhhh, I think it was fifteen minutes?

grillin'
[That's all Takame said looking at the charred remains of some kind of meat on his plate. Heavens knew he didn't have the stones to request something rare cooked, so he simply let Elliot cook... however he wanted.
But at what cost, Kesi? To become a WOL who does, in fact, eat rocks?]
It, ah... it isn't... ["that bad", he wanted to say. But worried that would sound even worse. Ah, hells, what... would Hina... wait Hina would have cooked something like this. What would Zhian say?] ... any trouble. [Nailed it.]
Are... you alright?
Re: grillin'
...Please don't eat it, Takame. You can say it's bad.
[Please.]
I'm fine, I'm just bad at grilling. I thought maybe I could figure it out this time, but... [Yeah, no. ]
no subject
You've tried grilling before? [THIS WASN'T A FIRST ATTEMPT??]
no subject
Ah- yep! My dad kept trying to teach me when I was younger. Didn't take.
no subject
... Do you need help with it? [Both learning and continuing to help cook for these poor sumbitches.]

Bonfire
I'm sure it'll be fine. And I mean, worst comes to worst, I can snuff out any flames...?
no subject
[ 🥁
I'm sorry he's like this]
Have you had s'mores before?
no subject
I haven't, no. I've heard of them, but I've never gotten a chance to try them.
no subject
[ He grabs one of the roasting skewers ]
Alright go ahead and stick some marshmallows on the end here.
no subject
[Going to go ahead and do that...]
There's a lot of stuff I've never gotten to try, so it's nice to be able to now.
Bonfire
[Asked with the unfortunate naive air of genuine curiosity. Souta was busy with sand art at the time]
no subject
Hahaha...well, I maybe proved that I have some learning to do myself by cooking some...thing inedible.
no subject
[That's not saying much, as Souta has literally never tried grilling before. But he's still trying to make Elliot feel better. You know, at least trying.]
I think roasting marshmallows is pretty hard to mess up. We should be fine.
[Right?]
no subject
You're a sweet kid, Souta.
[He can tell him that much at least]
Haha, good point. Have you ever done it before?
no subject
[He doesn't get it. Sure he's being nice, but it's also true!]
I don't think so? Or at least if I have, I don't remember. I know I've had roasted marshmallows before, but someone might have cooked them for me.
[He was young at the time.]

bonfire
[holding a nicely toasted marshmallow]
And the worst case here, you just pick up another one and try again.
no subject
Aw, thanks Professor! Sounds like something I'd tell my students...
[he takes a marshmallow and stabs it on a skewer himself]

[homf]
Besides, I set plenty of shit on fire when I was learning. No shame in screwing up now and again, so long as the kitchen's standing by the end. Or the beach, in this case.
no subject
Eheh, really it's not lack of practice. Just negative association.
Every summer Dad would try to shove these skills onto me, to try to make me more "manly".
