Voice; un: pirateking
New powers, huh? I know about that. Wanna talk about it?
He's intimately familiar with what it's like to suddenly get new powers and not know you have them, and then, not know how to use them. Getting his rubberman powers had been an accident, after all, and he spent years after learning how to train with them. There really hadn't been anyone there to teach or guide him, either. He won't try to teach Yoosung, fully believing that's something he needs to learn and train himself, but he will at least talk to him and try to guide him through the confusing and sometimes very scary process of suddenly having powers you know nothing about.
Voice; un: ShootingStar
[It feels private somehow to discuss his own death, and he's not sure why. Maybe just because the experience was very personal. And he's not sure he wants everyone knowing he can come back to life, either. All of it is just something he feels hesitant talking about with someone he's just met over the network.]
Maybe we can talk about yours first? What were your new powers?
Re: Voice; un: ShootingStar
His voice slowly quiets as he talks. He sounds cheerful but there's a slightly serious undertone to it.
It was kinda freaky at first. I was suddenly all stretchy and couldn't control it.
And then it was funny! Punches didn't hurt and neither did getting hit. I just bounced back!
It doesn't sound like a curse, so far.
Then I picked a fight with some mountain bandits and! Shi shi shi shi! It didn't go so well.
Despite the laugh, he sounds a tiny bit melancholy.
I can't swim cause of my powers. Never will, I'll always drown. And some guy tried to drown me cause I annoyed him by picking a fight! Shanks saved me, though. Lost an arm, got eaten by a sea monster, but otherwise was okay.
I learned a lot about my powers after that. I couldn't control them without practice and training, which took a lot of time. Getting hit with spiked gloves hurt my face. Getting hit with blunt objects doesn't hurt but swords and knives do. It was kinda crazy, having to learn about all that! I was lucky though, I ate it at seven so I could start learning early!
That's a lot to dump on a person but that's only the briefest of overviews in regards to his powers.
There's still a lot I'm learning about my powers, still! Like, I can't do it here, but I can make the blood in my body go really fast, which makes me go really fast! Sorta like blood doping, I'm told! And, if I bite down real hard and blow into my finger, I can create air pockets in my bones to make my limbs large, like a giant! I'm sure there's other techniques I still haven't learned yet!

At age seven? How old are you now?
The only other powers I've discovered are that I can mimic people's voices... But this is a lot different than that...
I didn't even know this kind of thing existed until just a few months ago.
no subject
He doesn't pressure Yoosung to talk about his powers. Luffy isn't interested in that. Or rather, he wants to know whatever someone is comfortable telling him. Other details? Unimportant.
Ace got fire powers! That was cool.
When it comes to powers and figuring them out, everyone is different. I dunno how things work here. You guys probably don't have devil fruits. But from what I know, devil fruits can affect a person or an object. There was this crazy dude with a sword that had elephant powers! That was weird!
He comes from a very different world.
The best way to learn about your powers is to practice with them but you said that's not possible. The next best is to talk to a bunch of people, like you're doing now, and figure out where your powers fall under. I'm a paramecia, which in my world, is equivalent to being outside the norm. There are zone users, users who have animal like powers. Logia type users, which is the elements in their purest form. And then there are the mythical types, monsters, beasts, and gods!
Where do you think you fall under?
no subject
Um... Have you ever known anyone that could come back to life? What would that fall under?
[He's not being subtle here even though he thinks he is, in not saying specifically that this is the exact power he's not talking about.]
no subject
Yup, Luffy actually knows a bit about this kind of power.
From what I know, he's basically immortal but not invulnerable. He still takes damage and like all devil fruit users, if he's in water, he can't move. He can't drown but that's not really helpful when you're stuck in water.
Hmmmm. As for what else I know, I would say rather than worrying about how to use this death power, isn't it better to train so that you have to use it as little as possible? As great as it might seem, being able to come back from the dead, I can only imagine it being traumatic. It's not fun, almost dying. It usually hurts a lot and recovery time might vary, depending on how it's used. I dunno, I'm not really good at this kind of thing.
He laughs a little, focusing on what he does know and can help with.
Shi shi shi shi! Brook is a paramecia! That kind falls outside the norm. He's a swordsman and a musician, too! He's really cool.
Oh! But making light balls is definitely a logia type! That's pure elemental, at least where I'm from! It's cool that you have more than one power. We only have devil fruits and haki. Mimicking voices would probably be paramecia, too! Which sounds like a fun party trick!

[Okay well now Yoosung is terrified he's going to become a skeleton himself!! He doesn't want that! He likes his skin!!
Although at least his skeleton friend seems nice? So... That's good??? This is all very weird.]
Who.. who said I had a death power?! Um, I was just curious!!
[And yet his voice is raised in alarm. Yoosung doesn't usually lie so he's not great at it.]
no subject
You are seriously confusing this simple minded child, Yoosung.
And yeah, Brook is a really funny skeleton! He can open up his skull to store things in it! That's petty cool. And he has an afro! Afro's are super cool.
no subject
Wait... How does he have an afro if he's a skeleton?
no subject
The afro is super important! Not only does it make a person way stronger and more confident, his is the only connection to his friend. He and his crew went sailing 50 years before I did and they all died. His afro is the only thing that his friend, Laboon, will be able to recognize of him now. Laboon is a huge whale, almost the size of a mountain!

Is this all really all true...??

Luffy is going to launch into a story about how he had to dress up to fight a pirate called Foxy. They were participating in something called a Davy Back fight, where they each battled for the right to take something from the other crew. Foxy had won one of Luffy's crew first, a talking reindeer called Chopper, who is apparently the ship doctor. But the next fight, two of his crew fought and won him back! And then it was Luffy's turn!
He doesn't really play up the fight, the way most people do. Surprisingly, he doesn't make it more fantastical than it needs to be and he doesn't hype up his win. It's still a wild fight to imagine, him trying to fight a guy in a robot suit in a room full of mirrors, all while trying to dodge beams of light that will slow him down and make him a sitting duck if they hit him.
But it's a fun fight, engaging, and he's cheerful the entire time telling it. Almost laughing at his own hijinks.
And by the end of the battle, I was spent! I really didn't have a lot of energy left. I'd received over a hundred robot punches, which isn't fun, and canon balls might bounce off me but having them explode in my face sucks. I probably would have lost, if not for the power of the afro! Right when I needed extra help, a shard of the mirror fell out of my wig and I was able to deflect the slow beam back at him! Then, I punched Foxy really hard and, once it wore off, it sent him flying. I protected my crew and it felt really good, winning after I nearly lost! Afros are great!
I'm sorry. Were you not asking about the power of the afro? Because that's the speech you just got.

Ah... The world you came from was pretty weird, huh?
[He really doesn't know what else to say to all this!!]
no subject
He isn't bothered by this assessment of his world. In fact, he seems pretty happy with it, almost proud.
no subject
[Yoosung's not good with horror stuff.]
no subject
He has no idea. Those don't exist in his world.
Brook is fun! His story is a little sad but he likes to laugh and tell puns and eat beans and play music! He's just been pretty lonely for fifty years, so his head is a little wonky sometimes. I'm just happy that he's happy now! I like having him as a crew mate and he's the musician I always wanted!
no subject
[Wait, the skeleton can eat? ...sure. That's probably not that strange, given everything else Luffy has told him so far.]
What instrument does he play?
no subject
But back to Brook. He's actually pretty proud as he talks about him. He adores all of his crew.
Brook can play all kinds of instruments! He mainly plays the violin and the piano, though. The violin is his favorite, because it's portable. His favorite song is Bink's Sake.
And, Luffy is going to attempt to sing it for Yoosung. He ends up laughing halfway through the song but keeps going, just having fun with it. It isn't really not the same and he's not really talented when it comes to singing, but he loves entertaining people and he loves this song. It represents all the happy times he's had with people important to him.
It's a fun pirate song, like a shanty!
no subject
It sounds like a fun song! That's impressive that he can play so many different instruments.
So you guys are pirates? Do you look for treasure and stuff?
no subject
We usually look for treasure, go on adventures, have fun together. We eat, sleep, fight, laugh and have a lot of fun hanging out.
He really misses his crew and hates being away from them. He might not show it but he hates being alone and is pretty lonely right now.
no subject
Ah, maybe that sounds more like a movie or an anime than a video game... Oh, maybe you didn't have that stuff either? Did you have cell phones?
no subject
These things are kind of like den den mushis, right? You mean that?
Yoosung is about to learn just how weird Luffy's world is.
no subject
[And he was already thinking it was pretty weird!]
no subject
Yup. That's a... thing... that was just said. Psychic snails. Ooookay then.
You talk into a mouth piece and it relays back what the person on the other line said! Sometimes, they even change appearance to match what the other person looks like! Pretty sure Robin said that's just an illusion but I'm not certain. We mainly use those to communicate with people far.
