so how do you know if something new and magical you can do is bc you gained a power or if it's bc an item you have is magical?
like how can you tell the difference???
um this isn't a power I can really test a lot btw so that method isn't really good for this...

I died and came back? Immediately after. I know people said people died in May and came back but I don't know if this is the same thing...

I... Think it was seconds? I'm not totally sure. The person who found me didn't see me die, only come back to life. But it couldn't have been longer than a couple minutes at most!

Those who died earlier this year took a week or so to come back, so I don't think it was that...but at the same time, I am not at all inclined to look a gift chocobo in the mouth. What makes you wonder if it was because of an item?

[His apartment complex itself seems to have been spared from dino rampage for the most part, though the electronic gate at the entrance appears to be broken. Whether that was from yesterday or not is unknown, but at least it means Jun can waltz in without any sort of keycode!

Yoosung spends the few minutes waiting for Jun getting the things together he wants him to check: his ARCUS, the pearl necklace, his cat, not to mention the random blouse and bottle of what is maybe shampoo that showed up recently.]

Luffy is slightly more subdued this time around. Still all smiles and grins but less laughter. Despite his laid back nature, he does know how to be serious. He's also slightly quieter, but only slightly.

New powers, huh? I know about that. Wanna talk about it?

He's intimately familiar with what it's like to suddenly get new powers and not know you have them, and then, not know how to use them. Getting his rubberman powers had been an accident, after all, and he spent years after learning how to train with them. There really hadn't been anyone there to teach or guide him, either. He won't try to teach Yoosung, fully believing that's something he needs to learn and train himself, but he will at least talk to him and try to guide him through the confusing and sometimes very scary process of suddenly having powers you know nothing about.

Mm, I dunno, it's kind of... Um... Sensitive?

[It feels private somehow to discuss his own death, and he's not sure why. Maybe just because the experience was very personal. And he's not sure he wants everyone knowing he can come back to life, either. All of it is just something he feels hesitant talking about with someone he's just met over the network.]

Mine was a while ago. I ate a devil fruit and suddenly got cursed with rubber powers!

His voice slowly quiets as he talks. He sounds cheerful but there's a slightly serious undertone to it.

It was kinda freaky at first. I was suddenly all stretchy and couldn't control it.

And then it was funny! Punches didn't hurt and neither did getting hit. I just bounced back!

It doesn't sound like a curse, so far.

Then I picked a fight with some mountain bandits and! Shi shi shi shi! It didn't go so well.

Despite the laugh, he sounds a tiny bit melancholy.

I can't swim cause of my powers. Never will, I'll always drown. And some guy tried to drown me cause I annoyed him by picking a fight! Shanks saved me, though. Lost an arm, got eaten by a sea monster, but otherwise was okay.

I learned a lot about my powers after that. I couldn't control them without practice and training, which took a lot of time. Getting hit with spiked gloves hurt my face. Getting hit with blunt objects doesn't hurt but swords and knives do. It was kinda crazy, having to learn about all that! I was lucky though, I ate it at seven so I could start learning early!

That's a lot to dump on a person but that's only the briefest of overviews in regards to his powers.

There's still a lot I'm learning about my powers, still! Like, I can't do it here, but I can make the blood in my body go really fast, which makes me go really fast! Sorta like blood doping, I'm told! And, if I bite down real hard and blow into my finger, I can create air pockets in my bones to make my limbs large, like a giant! I'm sure there's other techniques I still haven't learned yet!

[This is a lot to take in, and some of it is... Very concerning at its mildest, and borderline traumatizing at its worst. He's almost not sure where to start with that. Still...]

At age seven? How old are you now?

The only other powers I've discovered are that I can mimic people's voices... But this is a lot different than that...

I didn't even know this kind of thing existed until just a few months ago.

I turned 17 this year! We made a promise that we'd each go out to sea once we turned 17, me and my older brother, Ace! Just saw him again recently, which was really cool. It was the first time in almost two years. That was before I got here, though!

He doesn't pressure Yoosung to talk about his powers. Luffy isn't interested in that. Or rather, he wants to know whatever someone is comfortable telling him. Other details? Unimportant.

Ace got fire powers! That was cool.

When it comes to powers and figuring them out, everyone is different. I dunno how things work here. You guys probably don't have devil fruits. But from what I know, devil fruits can affect a person or an object. There was this crazy dude with a sword that had elephant powers! That was weird!

He comes from a very different world.

The best way to learn about your powers is to practice with them but you said that's not possible. The next best is to talk to a bunch of people, like you're doing now, and figure out where your powers fall under. I'm a paramecia, which in my world, is equivalent to being outside the norm. There are zone users, users who have animal like powers. Logia type users, which is the elements in their purest form. And then there are the mythical types, monsters, beasts, and gods!

Where do you think you fall under?

I have a friend with fire powers! And I can make balls of light, too! I can probably practice with that power, and the mimicking people's voices, but not this other one I have...

Um... Have you ever known anyone that could come back to life? What would that fall under?

usually i chalk it up to timing. if i got a new item, and then weird things start happening, it's a pretty logical conclusion to blame the last weird thing i picked up off a monster

i have some experience with spontaneously gaining powers too but those tend to be a bit more limited or follow a theme or whatever

example: having visions to understand people and what they're thinking can also mean you understand what animals are saying

I do think it's an item that I got pretty mysteriously, and someone else has said they really think so too, but for this power I really have to be sure even to use it

it's kinda life or death if I'm wrong about where it comes from or how often it works...

can you do both of those abilities though? cuz that's pretty cool!! 😯

i did once, more or less. not anymore. getting visions is really inconvenient and kind of painful. almost killed me a couple times actually

[Pretty much everyone now has been saying similar things about his new power. At least by the time the month is over with Yoosung will have come to the same conclusion: that it's not good to try and use it when he doesn't know how it works.]

sometimes you're better off not knowing your own limits.

sometimes. it hurts like trying to listen to a too-high whistle. like a message forcing its way into your head, urgently trying to tell you something, but every time you try to tune your ears to that frequency it slips away from you. it's only temporary at least

the problem is i can't control when it happens, so i'd end up having revelations on the battlefield. when i'm witnessing something i become completely unaware of everything and everyone around me, so if someone were to walk up to me and stab me hard enough i'd just die
