[The video starts, and there's the girl, sitting cross legged, booklet open as she is still trying to read as much as she can, and then she looks up, a brave smile on despite it not quite reaching her eyes].

Hi, uh, city dwellers! Luz Noceda here, apparently new, uh, tourist that somehow dropped here by mistake! At least, that's what I WOULD think, but now that I have this book and device, inclined to believe I don't just get to skip and jump back home. Heh! Not the first time that's happened!

[Joking helps, because OH BOY is Luz quietly trying to keep it together].

Did everyone get here through a kinda maze? I'm going to guess it wasn't the same, since my getting here was through a place I'd been to before, with some pretty choice memories. RUDE ones too, because I'm kinda already having a bad day, didn't really need the reminder about all the stuff on my mind, thanks! Nosy...labyrinth...thing.

Anyway! Pretty sure I'm lost, and I don't think a random girl asking strangers what the deets are is going to be really appreciated, SOOO I figured, why not go to my trusted friend, the internet! Or intranet, I guess? It seems like this thing is localized, right?

It must be hard, to deal with something like that. I don't know your family well, but they all seem like really nice people.

[ Luisa hesitates for a moment before switching her response to private. She's not sure if Antonio is around or has seen this post, but just in case she doesn't want him to see this and feel bad. ]

Yeah. It happened to my youngest cousin, Antonio. We found him a bit after a lot of us arrived here, but he...he has other parents here that aren't my tía and tío, and says he's been living in this world the whole time. Even though he looks and sounds and...feels like the same Antonio, he has memories of another family and another life. He doesn't even remember his brother or sister, and even though he recognizes his mamá, it's not really the same.

And it...it is pretty hard. [ Though she knows it's more difficult for his immediate family - and Mirabel - than it might be for her. ] But all we can really do is just...try to get to know them as they are here. And hopefully they'll remember a little more about us.

[This sounded serious.

And oh gosh, it WAS. This was exactly what happened with Eda, where the way something should have happened didn't, only this was somehow even worse. A KID. He was young and a Madrigal, and yet somehow whatever strange magic that worked in his world had displaced him from his real family.

Except...well, she didn't get all of that].

Wait, so he recognizes his mother even though he had a different one? And he doesn't recognize his brother or sister? That's awful, I'm so sorry.

That's so messed up too. It's like someone is specifically editing and piecing together our lives, and barely have any of it right. I'm guessing he isn't with you all in the house, right?

Yeah. His brother, Camilo, had shown Antonio their mom, and he kind of recognizes her? But just that he thinks she looks familiar, not that he really feels that she's his mother. Or at least, that's what Camilo had said. I don't know if anything changed when Tía Pepa actually got here.

No, he doesn't stay at Casita. But he comes by to spend time with us sometimes, and I think Mamá has been trying to get to know his...other parents.

I talked to Camilo! He was actually dancing around what he was trying to say though. I guess this is why: it's probably still a sore subject.

[But that was the same thing with Eda too: there were little pieces of who they were shining through, just in pieces].

That must be really painful, knowing that he's there but he doesn't know who he was. I'm sorry.

Yeah, it's been...pretty difficult. [ Certainly for some more than others, though. ] I'm sorry you're going through that too, though.

It's not fun, but it could be worse. She could be nothing like the awesome lady I know, and as far as I can tell, it's still HER, she just doesn't remember me.

The weird thing though? I think she gets flashes of herself, the one that I know.

Yeah, that's the thing. They still feel exactly the same person that they were back home, right? Even if their memories or lives here are different, they still feel pretty much the same.

I think that's happened to Antonio too. That's how he was able to remember his mamá.

Right, she does. Down to some of her specific habits! She just doesn't know anything about the Boiling Isles or me, and she doesn't have some of her other features.

[Like the different colored eyes or, as far as she knew, the Owl beast curse].

So he only sort of remembers, but not fully, right?

Yeah. There are still some differences, but it's not enough for them to really be someone else, right?

Pretty much. I think some things are familiar to him, but he isn't entirely sure why.

No, its not. Because you can still tell that it's them.

[Which, she bet, just made things harder for the rest of the family].

I'm starting to wonder if they don't slowly start to gain their memories bit by bit. I don't have proof on it yet, just hope, but the more magical this place gets, maybe the memories start to spill more.

Exactly.

Yeah, it might be possible. But we can't really force them to remember. We can only really wait and see if they get any of their memories of their other lives.

[This was much rougher than she expected this to be. There was still hope for Eda, but she was going to have to wait, which conflicted with her whole needing to go as soon as possible].

Other lives. I guess that's technically what they would be, right? And you're right, we can't just make it happen for them.

Maybe I'll be in this place longer than I thought.

Yeah. We just have to be patient with them.

Which is hard, I know, but...it'd be worth it, I think.

[She was such a gentle giant, Luisa was. Luz couldn't help but want the best things to happen for her, AND her family].

I guess I'm so preoccupied with time and impatience. I think you're probably right about that.
