[The video starts, and there's the girl, sitting cross legged, booklet open as she is still trying to read as much as she can, and then she looks up, a brave smile on despite it not quite reaching her eyes].

Hi, uh, city dwellers! Luz Noceda here, apparently new, uh, tourist that somehow dropped here by mistake! At least, that's what I WOULD think, but now that I have this book and device, inclined to believe I don't just get to skip and jump back home. Heh! Not the first time that's happened!

[Joking helps, because OH BOY is Luz quietly trying to keep it together].

Did everyone get here through a kinda maze? I'm going to guess it wasn't the same, since my getting here was through a place I'd been to before, with some pretty choice memories. RUDE ones too, because I'm kinda already having a bad day, didn't really need the reminder about all the stuff on my mind, thanks! Nosy...labyrinth...thing.

Anyway! Pretty sure I'm lost, and I don't think a random girl asking strangers what the deets are is going to be really appreciated, SOOO I figured, why not go to my trusted friend, the internet! Or intranet, I guess? It seems like this thing is localized, right?

[Luz kept walking, sighing softly. This was going to be so, so weird].

His name is wha-nope. Ok. Of course it is. NOTHING WEIRD ABOUT THAT.

[Luz thought she was getting a headache].

[ She stops and turns around to look at Luz, raising an eyebrow. ]

[Luz, you gotta stop being weird! This is not your Eda, its THIS world's Eda! Just deal with it!]

I'm good! I just was thinking about some things. The school year is almost over, right?

[ She... has to think about this for a moment. Look, it's been a minute. ]

Should be, yeah. Probably a little late for you to enroll, if you're wondering about that.

[ Oh god she'll have to see to this kid's education

[Luz said that part flatly with a grin. Look, she wasn't exactly chomping at the bit to go there when she had just to deal with some mindboggling information. Besides, without school she could actually try to focus on getting back to the Isles].

Guess that gives me a lot more free time!

[ Eda sounds. Not super elated about that. But okay. This is her life now. She has somehow acquired an energetic teenager who will be sharing her everything. Okay. ]

[It was like Luz could read her mind].

I'll try not to cramp your style. You probably never had some kid living with you, after all. I have my own mission to try and figure out, after all!

[ Eda looks over her shoulder and smirks. ]

[Judging by all the things that she was getting from people, this was not going to be a quick fix. Not with all of the magical things that were clearly going on.

Luz paused and looked at Eda. It wasn't HER Eda, and yet somehow, it still did feel like her, the same witch who had her own agenda, who somehow got tangled up in helping this strange human that wound up at her place of business. In those eyes, Luz still felt the same motherly, wily woman that she cared about and would do anything for.

And sometimes that meant keeping her safe].

Nah, just dumb kid stuff! Figuring out this magic, trying not to get the magical whatevers suspicious about what I'm doing while I try to find a way back. You know.

[ Yeah no, Eda sees right through that. ]

Uh huh.

[ However, she also doesn't wanna pry too much. She figures -- hopes -- that if Luz gets in real trouble, she'll come to her. ]

[Yep. Just like her Eda, she could see through that. Unlike her Eda though, she didn't have the whole picture just yet. It would be her decision how much she wanted to get involved].

You have a curfew? There might be sometimes where I'm home late. I'll probably be hitting whatever counts as a library in this place.

[ She waves a hand. ]

Nah. I'll give you my spare key. But you gotta keep your own schedule, especially when you're in school, alright?

[Luz nodded. Right, school. She still could hardly believe she was going to be made to do THAT].

Right. But that'll happen in the fall though?

[ Still, she stands, turns around, and puts her hands on her hips. ]

Didn't you say something about working at my shop, though? You gotta be awake for that. We're open from 10 AM to 6 PM.

[It was good Luz didn't have to waste time trying to worry about school. She could focus on plenty of other things].

So you DO want me to work for you then! I thought you might!

[Not that Luz was planning on sleeping in anyway. Maybe most teenagers her age relished the extra sleep, but Luz was a go-getter. None of that for her]!

Sure. I could use an extra hand for cleaning and such.

[ She's daring Luz a bit. Still wanna help? ]

Oh, I know you can. Your shop is nice, but I noticed cobwebs in several corners, and there's a distinct lag of organization with some of your wares. Give me a few days, and I'll give you a much better system!

[Luz may be sure this is not her Eda, but she was still compelled to treat her the way she would have Eda. There were far too many things that felt familiar to her, and frankly, Luz was still touched that this Eda took her in anyway].

[traaaaaash]

[ Eda is a little taken aback by that, and blinks. ]

Okay, okay! I see you're enthusiastic.

[ Smartass kid lecturing her about her own system... tsk... ]

My system is fine, though, thanks.

Yep, you caught me!

[Look, there was room for improvement was all that she was saying. Whether she was Boiling isles or new human Eda, she wanted her business to be successful]!

[And hopefully get to the bottom of all this crazy magical stuff, whatever it was].

[ She says that in a disturbingly cheerful manner. ]

[Luz was totally used to this type of humor from Eda. It was actually pretty comforting].

Great, so we've got that sorted out. Now let's get our butts to that restaurant before it closes.

[ And she turns again and leads the way. ]

[The food sounded great too, but the family definitely made her curious, and the ones she'd met seemed really nice]!

The place is family-run, you said? Awww. Sounds nice.

[ Even if she doesn't have a lot of contact with her own family, Eda can appreciate that. ]
