[It had been a very difficult couple of months for Danny. And the two weeks of survival and sleep deprivation hadn't helped. Like, at all.

But hey, there was no better way to avoid all the things he was trying very hard not to think about than an obvious distraction. And he'd been wanting to do this for months.

Danny adjusts the angle of his phone's camera and waves. He is standing in front of a large card table set up in the park. On the table are a couple of battered cans of obviously knockoff soda. Bepsi. Bepis. Conke. And the probably accurately named End Me. Each can has been opened and dumped into a large container in front of it, and a tube of Mentos candy is ready to drop in..

You can probably figure out where this is going. ]

Hey guys! I figured this would be the easiest way to film this. Wish me luck.

[And with that he dumps the candy into the containers and dives for cover under the table as the containers erupt into a geyser of foam.]

[ And he will be on his way to the park, like, immediately. Screw homework.

When he finds Danny after walking around searching a while (cuz why text for exact location, that's too easy), he happens to see him with his back turned, but even from behind it's a pretty recognizable set-up he's got there... So Alberto smirks to himself, and comes up with as much stealth as he can manage, to try and pop up over Danny's shoulder to spook him... ]

...Boo.

[ ...He's not even trying to be punny. He just likes startling his friends and going Boo. Literally his first word ever spoken to Luca — who, in that moment, was certain Alberto was a human about to murder him, so, y'know, this is at least a less distressing prank. Alberto's grown a lot. ...A little. ]

[Danny was feeling a little more jumpy these days, related to some.. stuff he'd been dealing with. He jumps... and because he also had powers that only slightly controlled even at the best of ties, he flinches into invisibility. A moment later, he flickers back into the visible spectrum, and reveals that he also had not come back down. He stands there, his feet set solidly on nothing several inches above the ground, and scowls at his friend.]

Alberto! Was that really necessary?

[prontissimo]

[ The blip shocks Alberto, who reels back wide-eyed. But when Danny reappears, still floating, it cracks a wide, dazzled grin over Alberto's face. ]

Uh, yeah. And that just made it extra worth it — hah!

[ He gestures toward Danny with his chin, grinning still. ]

[He didn't know why he expected a different reaction that that.]

Please a little more warning next time?

That— …okay. Sure. Next time I’ll warn you before I sneak up on you and go boo.

[ Sort of loses something in that… Hmm… But Alberto presses on smoothly. ]

So, what’s the deal here?

[ He gestures with both arms toward Danny’s science experiment set-up, stepping over and gently tapping the side of one of the large containers with his foot idly. ]

Besides, scaring people with a "Boo" is technically my gig.

[Danny says this with mock offense.]

Okay! So this is technically science. So if any teachers ask, we're definitely doing it for education purposes, and not because it looks really cool.

[prontissimo]

[ Alberto narrows his eyes at that retort, smirking, teasing. ]

I've been "Boo"-ing people since before you were born, but, whatever. S'fine.

[ Kid, you're whipping out the interdimensional time-travel card for this? Sigh... He bucks up, though, placing his hands on his hips comfortably. ]

Science is cool! It can be a little of both, ha. So, give me the rundown.

[Danny just stares at him with confusion for that one. Before he was born? That was kind of a weird comeback, especially since he'd always thought he was a little older than the other boy.]

Uh, okay?

Right!

[Danny claps his hands together.]

So you know how soda is bubbly because it has carbon dioxide in it? This works because of that. When you drop in the candy, it makes a ton more carbon dioxide bubbles and the whole thing erupts at once.

[ Alberto did not know how soda is bubbly because it has carbon dioxide in it. Nor does he know what carbon dioxide is. He's not covered any chemistry in science class yet... But far be it for Alberto to admit to ignorance. He just nods along, chin in his hand thoughtfully like he understands. When Danny finishes explaining, Alberto claps his hands decisively, rubbing them together in his eagerness to give it a try himself. ]

All right, got it! Let's do this, ha~

[ Alberto goes ahead and picks up the pack of candy, barely awaiting instruction, but manages to hold himself back at least. He's improved his impulse control a lot since joining school... though, not always by choice. ]
