WHO: Waver + open
WHERE: The network
WHEN: After the prophecy post
WHAT: the reason for the (march) season
WARNINGS: Language, mostly.
So, in light of the current information on our next upcoming disaster and knowing not everyone is from Earth or otherwise knows much of mythology, I'd like to put forth a quick rundown on what we could be dealing with. For those who may not know me: I'm Professor Waver Velvet, and believe me when I say I've studied this.
Banshees
Spirits taking the form of cloaked women with long hair. Heard to scream, wail, sing laments, you get the idea. Doing so most commonly foretells the death of a family member, but an omen of death in general is also applicable depending on interpretation. Ordinarily they do not cause death, merely warn for it. Although I am not fully confident in committing to that, where things never quite turn out as I expect them to.
Leprechauns
Largely the bastardized interpretation of vaguely similar creatures, the folklore around them rose to prominence in more recent centuries. In other words: contrary to popular belief, leprechauns are fucking fake. Not that that will stop anything, because collective belief and magic are a hell of a feedback loop. Just in case: don't follow any rainbows, don't touch any gold, and in fact just stay far away from troublemaking little bastards in green.
Fae (general)
Carry iron to repel them. If you have or know of ways to ward against or see through illusions, be prepared to utilize them. Charms of rowan branches might work, as well. If you see anything like mushrooms or flowers growing in a circle do not under any circumstances cross into it.
One more thing.
Don't give out your name.
Don't. Give out. Your name.
DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR FUCKING NAME.

They're terrible creatures.
I was asked to be their queen once.

Leprechauns are unknown to me, but I know enough of the strength of belief and magic to believe seeing them would not be out of the question.

That aside, I was thinking the same. Magic and the belief in it are extremely closely tied in my world--it's why the Association is so strict about the concealment of magic. Setting aside the fact that such concealment is a nonissue here, I don't see any other reason to assume otherwise around here.

Thanks for this, though, having even this much info is going to be a serious help.

Don't worry about thanking me. This is just something I've researched in the past.

I'd offer to share the vision if, one, I thought it'd help and, two, it wouldn't mean more screeching.

i guess this is the part where i should add that i got cursed by them last year
unlike my cohorts here, i had a lovely time away with the fae. i'm honestly not even sure i can call these wings a curse. it happened after i spent all week telling them stories, and entertaining them, and braiding hair...
this all makes me so nostalgic for my dear friend feo ul... if this does indeed have anything to do with the fae, i shall have to make the usual offering.
[yeah that all about tracks for a guy who thinks he can fistfight god and win]
the other stuff sounds like a pain in the ass though
no subject
but i'll ask since you seem to know, what's the usual offering? just tireless entertainment for a solid week?

I guess that I might as well begin to make and bring along a iron bracelet with rowan beads for the entire month then.

Thankfully, I keep a box of iron nails around. The hammer is less practical to carry around.

Good to know. As long as you have something on you, that's likely enough to work.

[Danny was still pretty sure that his own recently gained allergy to iron had to be part of his ghost weirdness. But it was weird that this was the second time this month someone had mentioned it in connection to Fae.]
