[As the new year rolls in, a deep cold settles into Kaisou. Best bundle up and make sure your heat is on. In the sky, the spirit vein shifts from hues of white and gold to hues of blues. As the clock hits midnight and many of the older app users are well into drinking, the blaring alert sound that comes with a new Zodiac post. The alert will sound even if you have your phone turned off or on silent, and will take over your phone until you read and comment to the message.]

Hello! Thank you for using the Libra App!

Happy New Year! We've reached the new year, and what a year 2022 was! So many incredible and memorable things happened in the past year, it's hard to know where to start! We thank everyone who has been along for the journey of the first year of the Libra app, whether you were with us from launch day or if you just joined today. Your time and engagement with our platform really means the world to us!

We're looking forward to another exciting year with everyone! Let's make 2023 our year, shall we?

Now, as a quick aside among all these new year celebrations, we wanted to report that we have been looking into the unusual changes some of you have been experiencing. While we're still trying to figure out the exact reason it's happening, we did notice that despite our earlier proclaim that the Spirit Vein's barrier was showing signs of healing - we perhaps jumped a bit too quickly on early data. In fact, it seems that early data was nothing more than an outlier and well... the spirit energy level within the city is actually higher than it's ever been, and the exposure to that energy might be what's causing the recent mutations.

While we're not sure why these changes are happening and what can be done to reverse them, don't worry! We're looking into solutions to this problem and let you know as soon as we find something. In the mean time, since it's the start of the new year, we recommend viewing this as a new challenge that could encourage growth! There's been no reports so far of these changes being lethal or harmful, so perhaps you can garner a whole new set of experiences from them!

But with that news out of the way, we encourage you to not let these things get in the way of enjoying the holiday and reflecting on the past year! So now we'll leave you with our icebreaker, and our first annual Libra Unwrapped. Enjoy!

[As you finish reaching the message, the app will change to one of end-of-year videos that show off stats like how many times a person has commented, active days, which people they message the most, etc. There is also a slideshow of photos that depict "memorable times" of the year - like the time you fought a dragon or played death soccer or ate at dennys! It's not clear how some of these photos were taken, but that's not important right? For brand new users of the app, the only photo they have is a selfie shot of the expression they made when the app opened. ]

Sadly no. I’m currently studying Journalism with a minor on Creative Writing in uni.

Why sadly? Are journalism and creative writing not what you want to do?

Actually, I absolutely love doing Journalism and Creative Writing a lot. I have always wanted to be a journalist ever since I was a kid and I have made a lot of poems and short stories for a long time in school. I am hoping to get an internship real soon when my third year comes in.

Then you shouldn't say sadly! If it's something you like to do, you should proudly exclaim that you're studying journalism and creative writing!

Being a writer is a noble profession!

Oh gee, thanks a lot Miss. I know that many folks don’t find anything great in writing but I still think it can be rewarding to write news and short stories.

I mean, taking both courses do allow me to do both factual news writing and fiction writing at the same time. My mom did inspire me to go into writing since childhood. She does teach English in Kaisou High.

Not at all, people crave stories, we've been telling stories as long as we've been able to communicate with one another. You are continuing a long, proud tradition. The whole world loves stories.

Oh! Then maybe I know her! I'm a student there!

You’re currently studying at Kaisou High? That’s great to hear. I’m pretty sure that my mom has met several students through the years.

Plus I used to go there for high school too. A lot of my friends and classmates jokingly called me a Teacher’s Pet because I’m a child of a faculty member in the school.

I am! I just started this year, actually. Does your mom teach freshmen? Perhaps I may even have her as a teacher.

Oh, I only just moved to Kaisou last late spring, I don't know much about the history of the school.

Oh yes, she does teach English to freshman students for some time. Maybe I can tell you more about the school during when I was a student in there.

Yes, but how would I know her if you don't tell me her name?[She's been trying to get it out of him politely, perhaps just outright asking will have to do the trick.]

Oh okay then, I’ll send in her name right away. Her name is Anne Carter and she is currently one of the freshman homeroom teachers this school year.

Oh, I'm afraid Mrs. Carter isn't my teacher. But I've heard lovely things about her.

That’s fair. Teachers in the high school often get different section assignments every year from what my mom told me.

And yes, she is a really good and kind teacher to be taught under.

Well, hopefully I'll get to meet her as the Student Body President, if nothing else.

That’s good to hear. I’m pretty certain that she will be delighted to meet anyone in the Student Council all the time even if she is not assigned as the Adviser.

Well, if she's as lovely as her son, then I don't doubt it.

There is definitely no doubt about that. She is absolutely one of the best teachers I ever have both in school and life.

You were her student as well?

Yes, yes I was a student of hers in the school as well for around two to three years.

Well, I'm sure she was quite fair and just, no special treatment for her special boy.

Yep, no special treatment for me and my three siblings when we were her students in school. She expects all of us to work as hard as every other student she has ever taught.

Three siblings! My goodness! Are you the baby? The eldest? Are they brothers or sisters?

I’m the eldest sibling, and I got a brother and two sisters.

That's wonderful! I've always wanted siblings.

Oh that is really great to hear. My siblings are pretty amazing when you get to meet them though they can be a bit of a handful sometimes.
