Video: UN: BRUNO
WHO: Bruno and you!
WHERE: In his Vision Cave in Casita
WHEN: 18th Feb
WHAT: Another super fun vision!!
WARNINGS: Talk of decapitation and a shitty MSpaint picture of it.
[Bruno is sitting in a large cavernous room with a sandpit in the middle. It's not the fun kind of sandpit though and Bruno is definitely not having a good time. He looks more stressed than usual as he turns the feed on.]
Okay, so I thought I'd give this looking into the future of this place thing one more shot. Just- just to see if I could see if anything...awful was coming. Or maybe if there was an exit to this unending nightmare? You know how it is. Anyway, the answer to that is absolutely not.
[He raises his little glass vision plate to the screen, just as poor quality as it was last month. He jabs a single finger at it in a panicked motion.]

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, can I please draw your attention to the DECAPITATED HUMAN HEAD?!!! Okay there's also some...fish with glasses and kind of a cane here too and I don't know what that's about, but what I really think we should be focussing on here is the DeCApItAtEd HuMAn hEad.
[He drops the plate, raising his hands.]
Anyway, I'm done. I am super done with literally everything. I'm just gonna go back to living in the walls where I didn't have to worry about any, and I really can't stress this enough, decapitatted human heads.

Okay. [She lets out a breath, glad he won't leave again. She can't do that, not again.] And maybe it doesn't make sense, but it's not on you alone to keep us safe. We'll all work together to do it, alright?
no subject
Yeah, that...sounds good actually. The headaches are back again.
[Probably because he's actively been avoiding using his Gift for so long. Any sort of resistance he built from regular use has gone. His tone is still tried and worried as he moves through the house.]
I know...I know, but there's so much we don't know here and I thought for once maybe this thing could be helpful but nope. Not only is it still awful but it's now awful that also makes no sense.
no subject
Alright, some calming tea and some butterbur flowers mixed with some lavender, I'll combine it with the arepas I have cooking.
[She goes to get all that ready for when Bruno comes to the kitchen.]
I'm sure once whatever it is happens we'll go "¡Claro que si! So obvious!" [She smiles, trying to make her baby brother feel better.] It's not awful, we may not know what it means, but we have some warning and some time now, yeah?
no subject
Gracias, Manita, that- that sounds really good.
[He manages a tired, nervous little laugh. He's still going down his stairs. He'll get there eventually. ]
Hah...yeah, maybe. I still think a vision actually telling us how to avoid the head thing would have been more helpful.
no subject
Ay, sí, pero, maybe we can't avoid it, maybe that's the point.
And now we know to look out for it, or maybe it's not something to look out for.
no subject
I-I guess. I don't know. [He shifts into the room, playing nervously with his hands.] I know my visions are usually...bad, but at least they were...easier to understand.
[And while he's less inclined to open up about his issues with the kids, he knows better than to try and hide it from Julieta. They're part of a set, after all, albeit missing a piece. He knows he can't slide anything past her. ]
I don't know how to feel about that? I always wanted my Gift to just...go away and now it's less I feel like it's not enough to help the people I love.
no subject
Hey there, Brunito. [She whispers, setting the lavender and butterbur tea in front of him before she puts a plate of food next to the teacup.]
I know. [Her voice remains soft as she moves to sit next to him, carding her fingers through his hair.] But, gift or no gift, full power or not, you will always be able to help the people you love. You always have, Bruno.
no subject
[He'll put his hands around the tea, warming them for a moment, closing his eyes and letting Julieta brush her fingers through his hair, taking the good, solidifying comfort from the action. He's not convinced by her words- not really. He's felt like he was lacking his own life, or even worse, an active detriment. It's going to take a while to move on from that, he knows.]
Have I? It...it doesn't feel like that right now.
no subject
But there was a wound her cooking couldn't fix.
It couldn't fix Mirabel's heartache, it couldn't relieve Luisa's pressure, it couldn't remove Pepí's anxiety, or... anything on the inside. And she knew that it was okay that she couldn't heal it, but she WANTED to. She wanted to be there for them. And all her years as a healer taught her sometimes the only medicine she could offer was just being there.]
I know we all wish we could be doing more. [She moved one hand off of his teacup and linked her hand into his.] It's... it never feels like it's enough like we're not doing enough. You want to keep the family safe, you want to keep all these people safe.
Your heart is so large and great, Bruno.
no subject
Yeah... yeah, I know.
[He is at least aware of the goodness in him, he has no questions about that- not at all. His issues have always been that goodness not being enough. That it simply didn't make the grade. ]
I guess that can only go so far, though. It doesn't make that big of a difference.
no subject
You have always tried to do more, be more, accomplish more for this family. I wish you could see how incredible that is.
You told Mira that she's the real gift. You too, you are a gift too. You are perfect, with or without your visions.
no subject
...I guess I'm still trying to get my head around that concept.
[It's FINE for Mira, less so for him. ]
It's a little trickier. We uh- we had a lot longer to get used to it.
no subject
We did, yes. [Julieta is not an idiot, far from it. She knows how long they've lived under the notion of being useful, being helpful, being available with their gifts. Julieta, personally, always had to be calm, she was the good girl, not quiet and "eerie" the way people called Bruno, but just gentle and never the sort to yell or shout, she was mamá's helper. She knows.
Even now, she struggles to be properly "angry," Agustín always having done it for her because he didn't mind being the harsher voice where she always had to be calm and gentle and in control. Before Agustín, Pepa had been willing to yell for all three of them.
God, she missed them both, she missed Felix, she missed mamá too.]
But... it's just us right now, the kids need us, as imperfect as we are, they need us. I need you.
no subject
And Julieta had it worse, at least Bruno had the chance to go off a little once in a while, but never her. She was always stalwart and steady. Being anything else in the face of her more...eccentric siblings was unacceptable. He is at least vaguely aware of the pressure that put on her- which of course adds to the gnawing guilt in his chest. ]
You've got me, I promise. I'm not going anywhere.
no subject
She presses a kiss to his temple, just happy to hear the words about having Bruno here with her.]
I do have you. And you've got me. I'm not going anywhere, either, okay? We're in this together.
no subject
Sure, we've uh...got this. Together.
no subject
So who was to say how this whole thing worked?
But what she did know was she had her family here to take care of, and that was first and foremost in her mind.]
Here, finish eating, okay?
no subject
Wiiiill do.
