Un: Zodiac | Mid-Month Update

WHO: Everyone!
WHERE: Libra App
WHEN: November 15th
WHAT: Zodiac Network Post
WARNINGS: None!

[We've reached the middle of November. By now, the trip to Duat has been completed, and over the next few days, the sun will slowly start to reappear. It starts with only a little sun at a time each day, but slowly the daylight hours grow until the end of the month it's closer to how it usually is this time of year. But considering the revelations learned during the quest, you probably have some questions. And some mid month, your phone will give a blaring alert sound, indicating a new Zodiac post. As usual, the alert will sound even if you have your phone turned off or on silent, and will take over your phone until you read and comment to the message. The post begins like the previous one had, with notifications of peoples coming and goings]

Cecil Thanatos Eda
Cecil, Thanatos, and Eda have joined the app. Say hi everyone!

[The post then continues on as normal.]

Hello! Thank you for using the Libra App.

First of all, we want to send thanks to everyone who assisted in resolving the crisis in Duat. Our experts have confirmed that the spirit energy around the city is beginning to normalize again, and we should expect a return of the sun and less tears in the near future. It was thanks to your hard work that we were able to find a resolution, and we are truly grateful for that.

Now to speak of the matter at hand. As you all learned, Professor Willow and other associates within P.O.K.E.G.O were responsible for the damage to the Spirit Vein that's caused all the unusual happenings over the past year. After interrogating Professor Willow and several key members, we learned that they did this when they attempted to travel through the Spirit Realm by use of a rare Pokémon called Giratina. Using Giratina caused much more damage to the Spirit Vein than they had anticipated, causing deep cracks within the barriers - which is likely what caused many otherworlders to slip through into this world. Their motive was to try to restore the Kanto Realm that they remember from a past life to it's former status as a full world, or travel to an alternate version of it.

We'd like you to know that Zodiac had no knowledge of P.O.K.E.G.O's actions or true motives. We had hired the Professor and his associates as private contractors and advisers after they approached us and offered assistance in Spirit Realm research. Upon reflection, we have reason to believe they did so in order to better monitor Zodiac's and your activities. We have immediately severed ties with all members of P.O.K.E.G.O known to be part of Professor Willow's plan. As for the organization of P.O.K.E.G.O, not all members were part of this, so they are currently undergoing internal review and reform. Perhaps we will revisit working with them again in the future, but for now our business relations have been put hold.

Professor Willow has recovered from the injury suffered in Duat, and is currently within our custody as we try to navigate what we can do about him. Unfortunately, none of his crimes are punishable by law due to the legal system not applying to supernatural incidents, so that avenue is unavailable to us. We are also aware that many of you, especially the otherworlders, have suffered due to Professor Willow's callous actions. As such, we'd be interested in hearing what you think would be proper justice for this situation. We will take your input under advisement and act from there.

Finally, we're still sorting out at Zodiac what this will mean for efforts to resolve the situation moving forward. We need more time to assess the new information, perform our own internal reviews, and make a plan for the future moving forward. We wish we could give you clearer answers at this moment, but unfortunately we don't have them yet. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

This post has no sponsors.

[Users will have the option to choose their own display names and user pics if they haven't already. If nothing is chosen, the app will use their real name and a quick photo taken of them from their camera's phone.Like always, there'll be no responses from Zodiac.

Starting today the sun will begin returning in the sky! It'll be only for a short amount of time each day, but slowly the days will increase until it's back to normal by the end of the month. NPCs will slowly stop noticing things as well. That said, continue commenting and backtagging the event log! It'll be around all month! ]

Right, internal reviews, that system which always works for fair accountability. Thrilled about that bit. Then again, I have to admit I almost believe this was one group going rogue or else we wouldn't have been allowed to stop it.

There really wasn't a system already in place for 'what if someone goes around the fucking bend in a supernatural way'?

Who am I kidding. Of course there wasn't.

Things dealing with the supernatural has never been regulated. When most members of the legal system are unable to perceive this stuff actually existing....

[Makes it real hard to regulate it.]
fionnuisce: (to give you a future)

[personal profile] fionnuisce 2022-11-15 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not one to talk, the Association's first response to something like this would be 'someone call the Enforcers and get to scorching the earth'. But I was kind of hoping for some middle ground of self-regulation between that and 'a large confused shrug through text'.

That'll teach me to be optimistic.
whiteshroud: (sigh)

[personal profile] whiteshroud 2022-11-15 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, I wouldn't hold my breath for that. Lots of crimes go unpunished if they involve the supernatural. And that likely won't be changing anytime soon.

install him as a new attraction in the park where for a nominal fee you can take turns smacking him with a foam bat

once he's ready to apologize we can move him to proper rehabilitation. you know, as a poop scooper at the zoo

As much as I love a sunset on a chilly autumn day I might be the odd one out in saying that I like the long night hours. With little sun there is no chance that I'll get a sun spot or dark spot on my skin. Moonlight is a great for preserving a youthful look, if you didn't know.

[Okay, Snow White.]

In light of recent events, though... How many of you own these "Pokémon"?

[Cale had honestly thought he was the only one who kind of preferred it like this, with no sun. It's a little relieving to hear someone else be so open about preferring it like this.]

I do agree that it is a bit nicer, not having the sun around. Although I hadn't heard of anything about moonlight being great for preserving a youthful look.

[Let's all act like we're half vampires, to be honest.]

Oh, you haven't? It's more about the sun being harmful for the skin. I'd rather avoid dark spots. Moonlight highlights the skin better than sunlight, too. At least in my opinion.

Dark spots, huh? Those are rather annoying and better avoided.

[Cale is a bit vain about his appearance, although he doesn't always go out of his way to improve it. But, point taken in regards to sun exposure.]

I'll have to be more careful when the sun eventually returns.

[Is he a LITTLE salty that Zodiac doesn't know what to do with Willow after he got community service for his mistakes? Maybe a little. But he's also experienced in this particular area, so: ]

People can make serious mistakes when their original intentions were good. Things like this can spiral faster than you'd realise. Maybe we should hear from Willow himself- see if he's actually sorry for the damage he caused. He's clearly learned a lot about the spirit realm- why not give him a chance to use that knowledge for good? Everyone deserves a second chance to make things right.

Two things come to mind here. First, if I'm reading this right this whole thing could have been avoided if Zodiac had spent a little more effort on their background check. But I guess they were too busy trying to sell their sketchy vitamins.

Second I guess I'm really surprised that Zodiac actually cares that the law doesn't apply?

[So this Professor Willow was the reason she was separated from Sven and the others...]

[Even still, she can't find it in her to be vindictive now.]

"Proper justice" would be resolving the problems that he caused.

As someone brought here from his actions, I would like to see Willow work towards repairing the Spirit Vein and finding us a way home.

If that is not punishment enough, why not community service? That's what you gave others for damaging the barrier.

[It's only fair.]

They really give people community service for damaging a spirit barrier? What kind? It's not like picking up trash or feeding the homeless would really do anything to repair one of those.

[ Related to that. ]

Does anyone actually know how to repair a spirit vein? I thought we didn't know that much about them.

It's what they did last time.

I'm not sure what kind. I only just arrived at the time. But there was a lot of damage around the city, so that might be why they chose community service.

[She was only aware thanks to the Zodiac announcements after the dinosaurs.]

I don't know. Willow might have a better idea than us. He sounds like he's researched the subject.

I know this is likely to fall on deaf ears, but you should allow us to question Willow ourselves.

With all the people you’ve gathered, one of them might be able to use his research for good. Better than your scientists could, at least.
