[It’s Mirabel on the network! Showing her face for the first time - and uhhh… she looks… like she may need a little more sleep. There’s definitely the faint trace of bags under her eyes. Though if she’s tired, it doesn’t show in her voice. She sounds as cheerful as she usually does.]

Is anyone in need of some winter clothing? I’ve been a little busy making scarves, but I can make gloves and hats too. I’ve got plenty of fabric, let me know and I can make something for you! We’ve all gotta stay warm, right?

[Has she had too much coffee and staying up late? Maybe! Maybe.]

[ Luisa knows she's probably the last person to talk about taking breaks, but it's very clearly obvious that her sister has not slept. And given that Luisa had received a new ~mysterious~ scarf just that morning, it wasn't hard to put two and two together.

Luckily she does hear that their mother apparently has it handled. She can only shake her head in sympathy, just imagining what Julieta is saying to Mirabel to get her to get some rest, and she does not envy her right now.

So she lets Julieta take care of it now, and sometime later she'll head up to Mirabel's room to check in on her. ]

[Oh Julieta put her in her place quickly, that's what she did. Mirabel finally does get the break she needs - or at least the eight hours of sleep she needed. Still, she's up in the morning, and Luisa can probably hear the sounds of a sewing machine once again.

Luckily, she hasn't gotten an outpour for scarf requests, so she's just working on a tiny bird-sized scarf. There's a cup of coffee next to her, and she's still in her nightgown.

She doesn't hear Luisa come in.]

[ She hasn't even opened the door yet and she can already hear the sewing machine. She frowns, because even though Mirabel had gotten some sleep, she still didn't want her sister pushing herself too hard.

Pot, kettle

Pushing the door open, she leans against the frame and clears her throat loud enough to be heard over the machine. ]

Does Mamá know you're already back to work?

[nonmagical]

[The machine stops, and Mirabel glances up from her work.]

Oh Luisa! I didn’t hear you come in…

[She doesn’t realize that most of the family probably saw her mom yoinking her phone before putting her to bed.]

Ah… she doesn’t. I just thought I’d get a head start on this little bird scarf that someone wanted.

[neverbreaks]

[ She debates for a moment, then steps into the room and closes the door. She doesn't want Mirabel to get in trouble, even if she did think her sister could use a bit more rest. ]

It probably could've waited a little longer, you know?

[nonmagical]

Ehhh, I mean - I’m up and I feel better, so…

[That’s… not the real reason though, is it.]

I just… want to help.

[neverbreaks]

[ She sighs softly, because that was the answer she'd been expecting. ]

...I know, Mira. Trust me, I get it.

[ She is all too familiar with that feeling; that desire to help, that need to please. But that's why she's worried, because she doesn't want her sister putting herself through the same kind of thing she had.

Thinking for a moment, she then takes a seat on Mirabel's bed, patting the spot beside her. ]

[Mirabel lets out a small sigh herself, but she’ll come take a seat next to Luisa.]

I thought… things would get easier.

[Her feelings, her part in the family, in everything- everything was fixed and better now so… shouldn’t she feel better?]

[neverbreaks]

[ She wraps an arm around Mirabel's shoulders, gently pulling her close. ]

Yeah, me too. But I guess...things like that don't just change right away.

[ It takes a bit more work to undo living with those feelings for so long.

She lets the silence sit for a moment, just enjoying her sister's company. It's been a long time since they've just sat like this, doing nothing but talk.

Far too long. ]

Hey, um...I'm...I'm sorry, by the way.

[nonmagical]

[It was nice, being able to sit with her sister like this. For a moment, the scarf is forgotten about - just enjoying her company.]

Sorry? What for?

[As far as Mirabel's concerned, Luisa's got no reason to apologize for anything.]

For everything from...before. [ She shifted, looking away uncertainly. She still had a long way to go when it came to talking about her feelings, but this needed to be said. ] I always...I always knew it was tough on you. Not having a gift. But I guess I never really understood how hard it was.

And I'm sorry I wasn't...wasn't there for you more.

[ The fact that she was only apologizing now, even when everything was supposed to be "fixed" showed just how much more work she needed to do before things were really better.

And maybe if she had been there for Mirabel more...they both would've been less lonely. ]

[The past is always hard to talk about, isn't it? Even as Luisa talks, Mirabel shifts uncomfortably. She's never really... dealt, with her feelings on what all happened.]

....

[She leans against Luisa, resting her head against her sister.]

It was hard. But it was hard for you too, Luisa. When I was - when I was trying to save the Miracle, I saw how much pressure your Gifts were on you. Especially you and Isa.

[She's quiet for a moment, and then:]

Not exactly glad this place decided to start kidnapping Madrigals left and right, but... I'm glad you're here. I'm glad we can be together.

[neverbreaks]

[ She's silent for a moment, her grip on Mirabel tightening a bit to hold her sister closer. ]

...it was, yeah. I guess we all got sort of caught up in our own thing, it made it hard to notice everything else going on.

[ Because she also hadn't realized how difficult things had been on Isabela either. ]

Yeah. If we had to end up here, I'm glad we're not going through this alone.

[ And maybe it would give them all a chance to get to work on the things they need to. ]

I just...wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you. You've always been my bright, creative, and amazing little sister...and I'm sorry I didn't tell you that enough.

[nonmagical]

[…. Luisa you’re gonna make her cry. And she starts to - a little. She quickly wipes at her eyes.]

…. Thank you, Luisa. That means a lot coming from you.

I’ve got an amazing sister too, who’s super cool and deserves to do whatever she wants.

[neverbreaks]

[ She laughs a little, hugging Mirabel closer. She doesn't entirely know how much she'd agree with that - she certainly doesn't feel so cool - but will say this. ]

Thanks. I think all I want to do right now, though, is spend more time with mi familia.

[ And it is sad that not all of their family is here. But she can make the most of the time with the ones who are. ]

[Mirabel embraces the hug - Luisa gives good hugs after all.]

Yeah, that's what I'd like too. Maybe I could... take the day off, and we can go do something.

[She doesn't have to finish the scarf today, she supposes.]

I think that sounds like fun.

[ Honestly, Luisa could probably use it too.

With a grin, she lightly nudges Mirabel. ] How about you go ahead and get dressed? It'll give me time to go grab my ~awesome new scarf~ that showed up ~mysteriously~ at my door.
