Hello, my name is Antonio and I wanted to share something with you today! I thought that I should show you what I wrote about pirates, so I hope you enjoy it.

In a land far away from Kaisou, there was a pirate named Peter the Great. Nobody knew where he came from, but they all knew that he was somebody nobody should mess with. One day, when he got a treasure map, he knew he had to get it. With his crew, they decided to go to a dangerous cave that told them nobody ever came out alive. Inside, there lived an evil octopus. Everyone told them that the creature lives in the bottom of the ocean and can eat any ship that dares come to the cave.

However, Peter the Great decided he was prepared. He had to get the treasure no matter what! With his crew, they set sail to the dangerous waters.

When he finally got to the cave, they had to be sneaky. They didn’t want the octopus to know they were there and they had to find out where the treasure chest was. As Peter the Great walked into land, he heard a terrifying scream. One of his shipmates saw the octopus slowly come up!

Not knowing what to do, Peter quickly made his way to fight off the evil monster! With his sword, he was ready but then, he saw the octopus crying. Wondering why, he asked why It turns out it was really lonely! The octopus only wanted some friends and he didn’t know why Peter was being so mean to him! Not knowing what to do, Peter asked if he wanted to join the crew.

When the octopus heard that, it was really happy! In return, the octopus showed them where the treasure was. And that’s how Peter the Great and the octopus became friends! And that’s how he became one of the most dangerous pirates in the seas!

It's a show where one of my family members did! He does shows where he has rats that are actors! He writes out stories for them to act out.

A show with rat actors.

[And people think she's odd for being a talking cat.

Okay.

But the show with the rat actors is totally normal. Not that it doesn't sound interesting - she loves rats. But also no one is allowed to gawk at her for being a talking cat person ever again.]

Welllll, sounds interesting, at least... you gonna get your own rats to act out stories?

You really think so? I hope that it was good because I want to be as good of a writer as Bruno!

Yeah, I do! I wasn't expecting the octopus to be lonely, but it was nice that Peter asked him to join his crew.

Oh you do? That's great! I think you're pretty well on your way.

I was worried that I might have quickly ended the story but I didn't know how to end it.

[Pause] That and I don't want the octopus to hurt everyone. That wouldn't be nice.

I think it was a good ending! I was actually expecting Peter to fight the octopus, but this was definitely better.

¡Bravo! Antonio, that was really good! Very clever twist at the end there, Kiddo.

[Hear that, Bruno? This is the sound of your not!nephew being so proud that he heard the whole thing!]

I didn't know how to end it because I thought it would be too mean for the pirate to hurt the octopus! So I tried to make it happy.

I sure do! You've got a real talent, 'Tonito.

[He hears it and he's so happy! He wants Antonio to feel supported here!!]

That's nice- there's nothing wrong with a happy ending. Heck, sometimes they're the best kind. You can always do more adventures with them in the future. The world's your oyster on that one- or octopus, I guess!

Then how do I continue it? Maybe I can have them befriend a giant squid instead? But I don't know how that would work because it means Peter would be too powerful.

There you go! They can go however you want. Maybe they take on more pirates, maybe they open a spa, the sky's the limit honestly!

Gosh, that was a really well-written story... It's nice how even someone who they thought was evil got to make friends at the end of it.

You think so? I always thought it was a weird way to end the story but I didn't want it to be really sad.

[That and he really didn't want his stories to have any killings!]

It's a little different from how other stories would end, but... that's what makes it even better than other ones, I think.

Then that's good! Because I want it where people can remember it even if it doesn't have a sad ending!

Well, it's got all sort of parts of it that makes it memorable. There's adventure, and a good friendship!

I'm glad you liked it because I worked really hard on it. I was worried that not many people would it because it might be too happy!

Awww. Have people told you they don't like happy stories?

[ Of course it's a very simplistic story, but Eda feels it's age-appropriate. Probably. Not that she's an expert. ]

No but I think it would make people remember it more, right? I notice that people do remember the sadder stories compared to the happier ones.

Well, that may be true. Sad stories do tend to impress people. But they need happy stories too, even if they don't talk about them as much.
