Player Plot: Kaicon
WHO: Everyone!
WHERE: The Civic Center
WHEN: June 3rd to the 5th
WHAT: Anime convention!!
WARNINGS: None

Kaicon, Kaisou’s anime convention, is bustling with activity when it opens to the public on Friday. People are in line to pick up their badges, attend panels, cosplay, spend some money, and generally have a good time. Why not join them? It's an all weekend long event, celebrating everything anime!
———
[Panels]
Panels are discussions or presentations about anime, manga, video games, or other series run by con-goers for fellow attendees, and Kaicon has plenty of them! Some of them are informative, such as teaching you the history of manga. There’s panels discussing your favorite anime, there’s interactive panels such as doing your own voice acting, or anime-themed game shows. There’s even funny or entertaining panels, such as panels that show funny clips from different bad anime!
Some panels are 18+ and con staff will check if you’re sneaking into an R-rated panel!
[Cosplay]
Something becomes apparent as you explore the convention. Mainly, a lot of these con attendees are dressed up in costumes! Some you may recognize from different anime, but people are dressed up in costumes from any kind of series, show, video game, or movie! If you look at your convention guide or just hang around the right place, you might find organized group cosplays! Either join in the fun with your own costume or remember to take some pictures!
[Dealer’s Room/Artist Alley]
For those of you with money to burn, there’s the Dealer’s Room that’s connected to the Artist Alley. Here, you’ll find all kinds of anime and manga merchandise. Plushies? Check. Figurines? Check. Video games and trading cards? Also check.
If you can’t find a plushie or figure you like, then head over to Artist Alley! These booths are run by artist con-goers, and they’ll have everything from posters, pins, buttons, and handmade plushies. You may find series or media you wouldn’t normally find in the Dealer’s Room.
Just watch those wallets!
And of course, there’s a video game room. You’ll find games typically found in an arcade, mostly two player games for you and a friend to enjoy. And if you’re really feeling it, there’s plenty of rhythm and dancing games!
[Dance]
On Saturday night, Kaicon will host a dance that will go late into the night! Get your party on, whether in cosplay or normal clothes. Alcohol isn’t allowed in the dance, but maybe you can slide something in if you're sneaky and determined enough.
———
By Sunday evening, the con winds down and comes to an end. There will be a closing ceremonies show for people to attend, as well as people saying their goodbyes and doing their final cosplays and panels.
Hope to see you next Kaicon!
(OOC: Looking for series to find at the con but struggling to come up with knock-off names for stuff? Mog has a list here!)

Trying to get home
But at least he isn't sinking into the floor.
He moves over quickly to Danny, moving to put a hand on his arm- not sure if it'll pass through or not honestly.
"So, I'm gonna make an executive decision and call this whole thing cursed. You okay?"
no subject
"A cursed anime con. Who could have guessed," Danny grumbles. "I'm going to go with not, unless you have any tips on how to keep the world solid. Its impossible to walk anywhere when the floor keeps disappearing under my feet."
no subject
"I didn't even know what one of these was until today, Fern dragged me here," curse you, Grass Boy!! "I...honestly do not. Um- maybe if you really concentrate? Like... try to imagine the feel of solid ground under your feet?"
no subject
"Anything's worth a try," Danny squeezes his eyes shut and he focuses on the idea of something solid. And finally he feel it. It felt insubstantial and only halfway there, but it was at least something more than empty space. Reaching over, he very tentatively tries to put his weight on it.
no subject
"Hey! It's working!" don't sound so surprised, Varian. "Okay, just keep focusing on that and seeing if you can keep it solid so you can take a few steps."
no subject
And of course with all of his concentration on how tangible he feels he completely forgets about the other part.... and abruptly turns invisible.
no subject
"Uhhhhhhh. I don't mean to alarm you, but you're...kinda invisible right now?"
no subject
A moment of concentration and he slowly flickers back into visibility. But now he was sinking again.
no subject
Because someone will just not realise they can turn invisible, obviously. And oh, no, Danny is sinking again, Varian's hand passes through him again.
"Uhhhhh okay I think you're gonna have to just pick tangible. Bigger problem here. Maybe I can get something to stick on you to fix the visibleity issue."
no subject
Danny was 100% done with this day already.
"Right." He squeezes his eyes shut again and focuses on being tangible. "Be solid," he mutters under his breath. His solidity wavers for a second before his sinking slows to a halt. He quickly makes an attempt to scramble back on top of the floor.
no subject
There's a tiny hint of amusement in his tone. Just a smidgen. True friendship is shit-talking, after all! He tries to brace his arm so Danny has something to cling to, leaning back to help him up.
"Okay- okay. Here you are, nice and solid, lemmie just-" he reaches into his backpack with his free hand, pulling out an inkwell- which he holds out to Danny. "Here- maybe if you rub it on your face then that's...something. A for-now solution. It'll wash off."
no subject
Danny hangs on and finally manages to reach something that resembles a solid floor. He lets out a big sigh of relief and releases his grip. Although not before nervously feeling around with his feet to make sure the floor would hold him.
"This is awful," he says as he reaches for the inkwell. "Its like I've become some kind of ghost to the world."
His hand phases right through the inkwell as he completely fails to make contact with it.
no subject
He watches as Danny's hand passes through the inkwell and hums.
"...Okay, that's not gonna work. Close your eyes, I'm just gonna..."
He just...hucks the inkwell in the vague direction he thinks Danny's face is. This is how you friendship, right?
no subject
"I'm really trying not to think too hard about that possibility." He'd seen movies, okay? And it was kind of hard to miss the connection that every weird thing that had happened to him since the app started up was awfully similar to stuff from ghost stories.
Danny gets just enough warning to let out a panicked "What?" before the inkwell is spattering over his face. He sputters, and has a immediate thought of how much he did not want to have ink all over his face and clothes.
And just like that, the ink falls right through him and splatters all over the floor.
Danny stares blankly at all of this.
"....What just happened?"
no subject
Varian's been ignoring the whole tail thing pretty hard after all- but he's pretty sure it doesn't mean he's possessed by a monkey. Like... 90% sure. But being possessed by a ghost? That feels so much more likely.
Varian watches impassively as the ink splatters on his friend before...dropping on the floor. He looks down at the pool of ink for a moment, before letting out a soft huh sound.
"This might be trickier than anticipated."
no subject
no subject
Varian waves his hand airily.
"I did say close your eyes, that counts as a warning."
Does it, Varian? Does it really?
no subject
Danny was trying very hard not to freak out over just having had ink fall though his body and what if some of it was still there had he just poisoned himself?.
Complaining about the warning wasn't a great distraction, but it was still better than thinking too hard about what was happening to him.
no subject
Who wants to get oopsie-poisoned by ink? No one, that's who. He hums softly.
"So what we've learned here is that we need to find something that will show up on you if you go invisible but also won't just...fall through you when you become intangible. So basically something that has to...defy the laws of physics."
Despite his words, his tone suggests this isn't out of the realms of possibility.
no subject
no subject
Which is why so many people just straight-up assumed he was a wizard back home but there you go. He rubs his chin thoughtfully.
"I just need to find the right chemical compound or the right mechanical thing is all. It might take some trial and error, but I'm pretty sure I can do it."
no subject
But hey, Varian seemed like he knew what he was doing. And it wasn't like Danny knew what was really possible with this alchemy thing.
"If you could come up with something, just count me in as your new test dummy."
At this point Danny would try anything that would help.
no subject
"Sure thing! I'll let you know when I've got something that might do the job."
