Kaicon, Kaisou’s anime convention, is bustling with activity when it opens to the public on Friday. People are in line to pick up their badges, attend panels, cosplay, spend some money, and generally have a good time. Why not join them? It's an all weekend long event, celebrating everything anime!

[Panels]

Panels are discussions or presentations about anime, manga, video games, or other series run by con-goers for fellow attendees, and Kaicon has plenty of them! Some of them are informative, such as teaching you the history of manga. There’s panels discussing your favorite anime, there’s interactive panels such as doing your own voice acting, or anime-themed game shows. There’s even funny or entertaining panels, such as panels that show funny clips from different bad anime!

Some panels are 18+ and con staff will check if you’re sneaking into an R-rated panel!

[Cosplay]

Something becomes apparent as you explore the convention. Mainly, a lot of these con attendees are dressed up in costumes! Some you may recognize from different anime, but people are dressed up in costumes from any kind of series, show, video game, or movie! If you look at your convention guide or just hang around the right place, you might find organized group cosplays! Either join in the fun with your own costume or remember to take some pictures!

[Dealer’s Room/Artist Alley]

For those of you with money to burn, there’s the Dealer’s Room that’s connected to the Artist Alley. Here, you’ll find all kinds of anime and manga merchandise. Plushies? Check. Figurines? Check. Video games and trading cards? Also check.

If you can’t find a plushie or figure you like, then head over to Artist Alley! These booths are run by artist con-goers, and they’ll have everything from posters, pins, buttons, and handmade plushies. You may find series or media you wouldn’t normally find in the Dealer’s Room.

Just watch those wallets!

[Video Games]

And of course, there’s a video game room. You’ll find games typically found in an arcade, mostly two player games for you and a friend to enjoy. And if you’re really feeling it, there’s plenty of rhythm and dancing games!

[Dance]

On Saturday night, Kaicon will host a dance that will go late into the night! Get your party on, whether in cosplay or normal clothes. Alcohol isn’t allowed in the dance, but maybe you can slide something in if you're sneaky and determined enough.

By Sunday evening, the con winds down and comes to an end. There will be a closing ceremonies show for people to attend, as well as people saying their goodbyes and doing their final cosplays and panels.

[ The sound of screaming draws Luisa's attention, and she quickly comes upon the scene of a full wolf figure in the midst of a crowd.

But something about it...she knows it's not an actual wolf, and somehow it reminds her of her sister's wolf transformation. Had someone just suddenly transformed?

Either way, they seem to be just as frightened as some of the regular people on the floor, if not a bit moreso. So Luisa pushes her way passed the people to get to furry figure. ]

Hey. [ She crouches down so that she can look at the figure's face better, and when she speaks its low enough that only they can hear. ] I know you're scared. But I can help you, if you let me.

[Catalina recognizes her voice - the woman who tried to talk her out of running away. At the moment, she really doesn’t care about that.

Help her? Can she make her… not this? She gives a little nod, followed by a whimper.]

[ She couldn't change her back, unfortunately, but she could at least take her somewhere away from the crowds. ]

All right. I'm gonna pick you up, okay? Then we can go somewhere that's quieter.

[ She holds her hands up and steps closer, but doesn't touch her just yet. Not until she's sure that she'll be okay with it. ]

[Man she is super unsure about being picked up, but she gives the crowd a brief look. More people are gathering around to look at her, and all she wants to do is curl up and disappear from their sight.

She finally nods - please help her?]

[ Once she gets permission, she returns the nod before carefully scooping up the wolf. She gets to her feet and lifts the wolf figure over her head, and somehow manages to settle her so that the wolf body is resting comfortable across her shoulders.

Then she starts making her way through the crowd, which is pretty easy given her size. ] 'scuse me! I've gotta go take her to the cosplay repair room to fix up her costume!

[ That seems to settle any lingering fear that the crowd have, and the remaining people part to make it easier to get through. Once she's able to move more easily, she hurries to take her to someplace that is less crowded where she can try to calm down. ]

[Catalina goes limp to make herself easier to carry. Once they head through the crowds and find a quieter spot, she lets out a soft growl and… tries to speak. It’s difficult at first, human words mixing with animal sounds.]

I… doooon’t… understand… this…

[ Finding a place that was relatively empty, Luisa gently sets her back down on the ground. ]

So this...doesn't usually happen to you?

[ It seems that she's having trouble talking, so Luisa isn't sure about really asking her questions. But maybe trying to talk would help her focus more on her human self. ]

[Catalina shakes her head. She tries speaking again... she's still trying to get the hang of talking in her wolf form.]

The booy.... said I was a wolf... didn't understand him...

[ It's a little difficult to understand her, but Luisa listens as much as she can, catching most of the words. ] Boy? What boy? He knew this about you?

[Catalina nods.]

Little older than me… black hair with a stripe…

[She really wishes she had gotten his name.]

[ Luisa frowns a little, the description sounding a bit familiar. ] Oh, um...the really smart kid, right? He showed up pretty recently?

[Catalina nods.]

I don’t… know… much about him…

Knew me from home… but I don’t know him…

[ She remembers Varian in the group chat mentioning knowing someone, so Catalina's words do confirm part of what she knows. ]

And he knew that something like this could happen to you?

Not... sure...?

Didn't... believe him...

Yeah. I can imagine that'd be pretty hard to believe.

[ It had been a similar problem their family had with Antonio, when they first realized that he didn't recognize them. ]

But if he'd said something about it, maybe he can tell you more about what's happening now?

[It's hard to keep talking like this, so Catalina struggles to focus. Focus on being human, and after a few minutes... the fur disappears, and she turns back into her normal, human appearance.]

Ugh... did I do it? Am I a person again?

[ Surprised by the sudden transformation, Luisa can't help a wide grin. ] Yeah, you did it! That was great!
