WHO: Xingqiu & Chongyun WHERE: Xingqiu's apartment WHEN: Early May WHAT: They have a conversation about their time inside the fae gate and both find something that used to belong to echoes of their other selves. WARNINGS: tba
[It's been a few weeks now since they returned home from that strange fairy world where Xingqiu had dragged a delirious Chongyun back. It hadn't been a pleasant time for Xingqiu thinking that Chongyun had completely lost his mind when talking about strange places he's never heard of and refusing to go home with him.
And honestly, it is still leaving a sour taste in Xingqiu's mouth. Sure, he knows of the oddities happening around the city, the gates, the changes, and how people seemingly have other lives they've plain forgotten about. But for Chongyun to treat him like he was the one who was speaking nonsense? It's ridiculous.
... Isn't it?
Xingqiu sits on his bed with his now long dark hair tied nearly up and resting over one shoulder. In his hand is a small little trinket that looks somehow familiar. It makes something deep in his heart feel like it's stretching and aching. His fingers curl around the little woven tassel and he holds it close.
Well. Chongyun will be here soon for their usual evening hang out anyway so maybe Xingqiu should bring it up again.]
[The fae realms situation felt like a fever dream that Chongyun had tried his best to forget about. In his opinion, the only good thing that came from it is that he knows how to meditate properly now. Books had nothing on the sudden knowledge on how to do it correctly.
The whole incident to him was just some weird Kaisou-influenced-by-Libra thing. That's all there was to it. There were more important things to focus on, like the ever looming finals. He's hoping Xingqiu won't mind too much that he's bringing some notes for classes he needs to go over... or the tassel he has in his pocket since receiving it. Since receiving it, it's not something he goes anywhere without, far too important to be left in a drawer at home.
He rings the doorbell to his friends place as he laments the fact that summer was ever closer. No more crisp, cold nights. It would be sweat soaked evenings for months soon.]
[... He might entertain this idea for a moment longer. He's grabbing two popsicles and tossing one to Chongyun as he sits himself down on the couch. Grabbing his laptop.]
... Hm! I think I still need to get through some science modules.
[The popsicle is caught before Chongyun follows Xingqiu over to the couch. Sitting down close so he can take a better look at the screen, casually taking a bite out of the popsicle.]
I have to take a chemistry class. Part of being a historian is knowing chemical compounds that can be used to preserve and clean artifacts and other things.
[He's just taking his time to look into the professors more.]
My advisor thinks I should look at calligraphy lessons. Not just for learning how to write neatly, but to be able to read some of the older documents and books. You could take that one with me if you want to work on your handwriting.
What are you going to do if you need to take notes for someone you work with?
[Is Xingqiu going to carry a tablet everywhere with him? It's something Chongyun can see happening, but really... knowing how to write legibly is an important skill for anyone.]
[....... it would be quieter. Possibly a lot more boring since their schedules would be so wildly different. So in short? Chongyun would miss his smirking friend beside him.]
I suppose I would. We've always had time for each other before, but it's not surprising since we both have different majors.
[He seems a little satisfied with an answer like that. Looking at his book before his smirk is a genuine smile.]
We're at that point of our lives where it's hard to always line up schedules, I suppose. But like I said, I promise we'll graduate around the same time.

Hello, Yunyun! Bringing things to study? And here I thought these little meetings of ours were all about me.
[He's kidding as he wanders into the apartment kitchen.]
I bought some popsicles, I figured you'd appreciate the gesture.
no subject
[Though Jun did try and encourage Chongyun to get Xingqiu to do more in that regard...
He follows the other in and makes sure the door is closed behind them.]
Popsicles? What kind?
no subject
[He opens the fridge and pulls out the soda-flavoured popsicles.]
Will these suffice?
no subject
[Soda-flavored... Nodding, he sets his stuff down on a chair.]
I don't mind those. They're not too sweet, so I can eat a few of them.
no subject
... Did someone tell you I'd fail? What makes you think I would?
[Xingqiu is far from a bad student??]
no subject
[At least no one has said that to Chongyun directly.]
I just don't want to graduate without you. You're one of the smartest people I know, but I tried reading a business book in the library...
[He couldn't make heads or tails of it.]
I wouldn't mind studying with you.
no subject
That was almost cute, Yunyun.
[Xingqiu smiles.]
It's nothing like graduating from grade school. We'll finish around the same time, don't worry. But if it makes you feel better, I'll study with you.
no subject
Great! Do you know what Gen Eds you still need to do? I've looked at what they're offering in fall already for the ones I need.
[If Xingqiu wants to talk about fae realm things, this conversation might need to be derailed fast.]
no subject
... Hm! I think I still need to get through some science modules.
[He's almost done it already.]
And political science.
[That was done a while ago.]

Are you taking another jab at my writing skills? It's perfectly fine...
[No, he writes like a shitty doctor does.]
But calligraphy lessons suit you.

[Uggggghhhhh.]
no subject
You should still consider it. These classes aren't till fall and I believe we have till the beginning of August to register for them.
no subject
Fine. Only if you really do take the class with me. Deal?
no subject
Deal! I won't pick a morning time so you can sleep in. Would the afternoon work?
no subject
The afternoon should be fine so long as it's after two o'clock.
no subject
[What are you doing, Xingqiu....]
It would end up being the last class of the day for me if you want it after two.
no subject
[If he really has to, he'll try??]
no subject
We won't see each other much next semester then.
[That just means they have to have a lot of fun this summer?]
no subject
[He's smirking just slightly.]
