WHO: Bakugou and whoever wants to engage with an asshole teenager
WHERE: Gemini
WHEN: May 21
WHAT: With the jungle competition postponed, Bakugou has realized that he's run out of options that aren't relying on handouts. Which he refuses to do anymore, dad!! Anyway, it's time for a teenager to find actual work so he can pay for his stupid car insurance.
WARNINGS: It's Bakugou. Which means swearing is a given, threats of violence are highly probable, and a crashout is imminent.
i need cash
already have a gig that covers up to half of what i need a month, depending
but i need more
[Child, please. Please.]
so. i need work.
i can cook, clean, organize, do manual labor, and reduce just about anything to dust
i don't do nights and i already have meals i cover at least three times a week depending on how much of a garbage disposal certain idiots feel like being
and i don't take handout jobs from nosy dogs with more money than they deserve unless they're ACTUAL jobs and not a stupid ~learning opportunity~
but since they can APPARENTLY just move whole ass competitions with no warning
i need something i can ACTUALLY count on
AND i need it to be something before the end of the month
i refuse to pay that stupid clown a late fee

It's a real job, I promise.
no subject
yeah, sure
i'll bite
[Ha.]
what's the job?
no subject
I don't think there are thieves stupid enough to steal from me, but should that ever be the case, you can also run security, should you take the job.
no subject
Power??????? Responsibility?????????? Something that's probably the closest he'll get to his actual chosen career path in this stupid world??????????
Other than being a cop, but. You know. They only deal with normal things in this world.]
.... i might be interested
maybe
IF i can be in charge of the response plan if someone DOES rob the place
no subject
Robin, my bangboo, will mostly be handling administrational duties and those keep it pretty busy. That being said, if you want to touch base with it, you will need to learn/understand the bangboo language because I haven't updated the human language module yet.
So long as it doesn't destroy the artwork or load-bearing parts of the architecture, you are free to respond to threats as you please.

i'm in
[This is a seventeen-year-old who explodes. On the surface, this cannot go well.
.... but this is also an organized perfectionist that refuses to lose, no matter what. And to Bakugou, anything less than an absolute victory is a loss.]
yeah, yeah
your precious art will remain untouched, i get it
lycaon knows the language, right?
[He might be stalking Lycaon just as much as Lycaon is stalking him.]
if he can learn it, so can i
no subject
We can talk hours and pay when you're ready, but generally as long as I have a heads-up, I'm willing to negotiate a fair rate and all the other things to go with it. Even a hero-in-training isn't cheap, I'd imagine?
no subject
little assholes can't talk shit behind my back if i know their language, too
[He doesn't trust anything under Lycaon's care not to be doing so, honestly. Veronika has made a horrible impression.]
HA damn straight i'm not cheap
this ain't hero work, though
if anything its a weird ass internship
AND i'm not gonna take charity handouts even if its for actual work
i'll figure out what this world pays for jobs like this first
then we'll talk hours
un: photocutie
I'll pay you! I've got lots of money and no idea what to do with all of it.

[It's not like he spent an embarrassing amount of time figuring out exactly how to find the best angles for the coolest victory poses as a child or anything!!!
But... curse the ever-present need for money. A need that will only get worse as he starts going to college.]
.................. fine
what does a photography assistant do?

You have a sledgehammer? Or what?
no subject
don't need one
i explode
[SIMPLE AS THAT, APPARENTLY]
no subject
You explode.
How? How does that work without you… well. Not surviving.
no subject
never thought about it more than that
[At the very least, explaining how his quirk works has become routine, in this world. He's getting to be an old hat at this!]
i sweat nitroglycerin from my palms
and before you ask
because people ALWAYS ASK
yes, i can control it. obviously. wouldn't be USEFUL if i couldn't
and no, i don't go around exploding shit for fun
other than myself
no subject
Just in theory… if you wanted to make something besides yourself explode… could you?
How long does the nitroglycerin last if applied to another object? Any other objects? Does it react like standard stuff or does the fact it’s organic in origin change anything?
[Uh oh.]
no subject
man
this city's explosion HUNGRY
[After all, this isn't the first person who has gotten very excited over Bakugou being a walking bomb.]
so long as it doesn't dry it can be used
haven't tested it too much, i mostly just use it in combat and for mobility
but i CAN store it up and fill containers
i have grenades as part of my uniform back home that can be passed to others and used
i lose the ability to remotely trigger anything that leaves me after a little while
but heat or enough force can still set it off
why?
lookin to destroy something?
[.................... wait... can he sell his sweat???]

[The raid on the lab under the tower is… party why his mind has been on security.]
So it functions the same then. Or close to it. Good to know.
I wouldn’t say I’m looking to go out with a bang or anything - already done that. But what I am thinking about is applications of organic based nitroglycerin for security purposes. Having that much control over the amount used, per instance, would be helpful for…
… what do you call them? Bobbie traps?
[Garrus no. No it’s booby traps-]
If you’re interested in experimenting… I can make it worth your time.
[Not like he can spend money on food or anything here.]
video;
Yeah, that's not what they're called. [But it'll be a cold day in hell when you get him to say or type "booby".] I'm always interested in experimenting with my quirk. There's a few things I've been trying to figure out with it, as far as combat goes. Knowing more about the chemical base of it wouldn't be a bad idea.
But since you're trying to figure out working with it...
[He holds up his hand, then, in front of the camera, close enough that, as he turns it to be palm down, Garrus will be able to see the way sweat seems to so purposefully be forming on the skin.]
I can't stop myself from sweating, but I can force it to a certain extent. And if I don't want it to heat and explode, it won't. But at the same time...
[His fingers twitch, just barely, before the entire palm of his hand seems to faintly glow, the air shimmering with the heat that's being given off before those droplets begin to fall, sizzling away in a flicker of light like a sparkler at a festival.]
I can control the size and intensity of the explosions. Anything from that to a flashbang, to... [He flips his hand over, explosions suddenly crackling in his palm, the sound filling the air until he applies magic to it to dampen the sound. Either way, it's like he's holding a constant crackling flame in his palm without even a hint of smoke to give it away.] General heat and light, to...
[Finally, he tenses his arm, not so much as to set the last blast he's giving off, but instead to counterbalance the recoil as the space over his hand fully ignites. A slightly muffled blast that shifts the hair on Bakugou's head, that ripples against his t-shirt, that rustles the papers on his desk. This time, there is smoke in the air, drifting upwards from a now-dry palm.]
An actual explosion.
[He will take a moment to think, after that display.]
... never really thought about if the concentration is chemically different for each use. To me, doing this is as natural as breathing, so I never needed to.
no subject
[And even on his alien face, the interest is painfully clear.]
Impressive. Been a while since I worked with a demolitions expert. [His secondary vocal chords are humming - a tone that screams interest, praise. And his mandible flexes in a grin.]
I'll admit, all of them sound useful for what I have in mind. If you set an explosion to a certain strength... do you have to stay in contact with it? Say - a flashbang. Lay down the charge, make it a timed explosion, so to speak? Or does all that change once you're not touching the area?
[He figures he can work with it, either way... but--]
And if you're not sure yet, we can find out. Like I said - it could come in handy for security applications.
[He sees that conversation with Hugo.]
