UN: Anby | Voice
WHO: Anby Demara
WHERE: Zodiac Network
WHEN: June 8th
WHAT: Network Voice Post
WARNINGS: Spoilers for the live action Lilo & Stitch
[The voice recording contains a voice of a woman whose tone is quiet and near emotionless.]
Is it recording? Good.
This is Anby Demara, a Guardian of the Black Order. I have downloaded the app required per the mission perimeters of the Kaisou Team, and will use it to record my personal log in hopes of remaining transparent under the new leadership.
[-- yeah she's clearly misunderstood the purpose of the Libra app, but the voice recording keeps going]
The date is June 8th, 2025. It has been one week since I have arrived in Kaisou, [a passing truck honks, making the state name inaudible]. Since then, I have prioritized finalizing my living arrangements and familiarizing myself with the city.
As of recording, I have located 1 movie theater and 3 burger joints in my immediate. The movie theater offers a decent matinee price, though the film I watched was rather disappointing. It was a live action remake of the animated classic Lilo & Stitch. The film was more sanitized than the original one, and it ended with Nami giving Lilo up to the state. I am unsure how to feel about that change to the story, but I don't think I liked it.
I should try to look into other ways to find movies, as even with the matinee deal, seeing movies frequently there will add up in cost.
Tonight I plan to try a In-n-Out burger for the first time. I have heard about these burgers in online communities for years, but they never had a store location in Florida. It was a surprise to find one here, and I'm excited for tonight's meal. [She says still very much in a monotone. So excited :| ]
That is all I can think of that's worth noting, so I will be signing off. Please note that all expenses I referenced have been made using personal money.
Anby out.

She sure did just witness her old mentor have a full on meltdown and identity crisis. Anby's not good at freak out moments like this on a good day, and this has been FAR from a good day, so:
As if addressing the network at large]
Wee-woo, requesting back up. Wee-woo.
voice; un: goldenrose
Diarmuid ua Duibhne at your service! Has something happened to Mildred?
[... wait a second.]
... What?
no subject
Not you too!!! What the fuck is happening?!!! That's not my fuckin' name, you know that, right?!
no subject
I do know that, yes, but I seem to be unable to speak it aloud for some reason.
[And he might have an idea why given his ties to a certain folk who like to swipe names.]
Mildred,
[... Nope, he's gonna clear his throat.]
Ahem, that is, my friend. Have you had any dealings with the fae recently?
no subject
Fffffffffffffffuck, this is so fucked up.
[ He snorts lightly. ]
Hell no. I know better than to mess with those sociopaths.
no subject
[True,
HuskMildred was experienced enough to keep as much distance as he could and don the correct iron to ward them off.Oh no even in Diarmuid's head he can't not say Mildred. Based on things he's heard elsewhere, though:]
Have you received anything out of the ordinary this month?
no subject
Anby thinks it might be something to do with an invitation. I ignored it, didn't think it was fuckin' anything but a scam. You get that shit all the time through the door these days.
no subject
Local Fae-Loved And Adopted Man has connected the dots.]
I think we may have found the problem. The sender of that invitation may well hold fae magic. Even if they do not, they hold the tendency to be offended at the slightest provocation. If you've thrown it away, that would be more than enough justification to take your name.

There's the sound of some paper shuffling on Diarmuid's end. Then he began to read off the invitation itself:]
"Jareth the Goblin King, invites all who receive this to a Masquerade Ball to be held in his realms this June. He understands that this is a most celebratory time of year for humans and not-quite-humans and he wishes to extend his hospitality to those of you in Kaisou."
"Do not worry about attire, as that will be provided upon request. Please note, however," [Emphasized:] "... that nothing is negotiable."
Did... you not read or open the invitation at all, my friend? [He's asking genuinely but it's kind of hard to keep the faint hint of "my friend, excuse my language, but are you fucking serious" out of his tone.]
no subject
...Well the fuckin' start of it really sounds like a scam letter!! Why would I bother to read the rest of it, jesus christ!
[Because this happened, Husk. Because this happened. ]
no subject
All I'll say is there is a lesson to be learned in this and learning has no age barrier...
[You're getting owned by a guy from the 10th Century.]
no subject
Fuckin' fine. How was I supposed to know it was fae bullshit? It ain't even March. Why are they dicking around when it ain't their month?
no subject
Anby Demara.
He started freaking out over the name Mildred. Is that his name here?
no subject
No, it isn't. And it seems like any attempt I make to say, write or speak his name becomes "Mildred". The fair folk are one to take names from others if given willingly. There's a possibility they may be involved.
Haha, though these circumstances aren't the most ideal for a first conversation it is a pleasure to meet you Lady Anby Demara.
no subject
[Titles are for fancier and more successful people than her]
The fair folk? Like the fae? Are they an issue in this city?
[Okay so she remembered his name, but maybe didn't read the ENTIRE brief (3)]
no subject
[Good lord, he's at it again. He sounded straight out of a movie.]
They will make themselves known on occasion, more often during the month of March. I arrived in this world nearly two years ago and both years without fail they brought their affairs into the mortal realm. They have a preference for that month, but it isn't unheard of for outliers to return or remain throughout the full year.
It's their wont to steal names given to them. Given both Mildred and our inability to say his true name, that's the reason they may have a hand in this incident. Not to mention others losing things within the city.
[He knew Edward was missing his locket, for one. And poor Zulius couldn't even speak!]
no subject
Ok.
[Anyway, she'll listen to the lowdown on the fae in this place]
... They sound like a headache, but given all the evidence, they sound like our most likely culprit.
What do we do in order to get the things they took back? Mildred should get his name back, and even if Junjaw is a pain- leaving him with the fae is likely to be worse for everyone.
[Also there's the whole thing about her brother being sick and dying which she's worried about, but she rather not get into her family issues on her first day on the assignment. ]
no subject
As for what could be done to fix this, well.]
Simply put, we humor the sender. He wishes to throw a Ball and is inviting the entire city. In the past the fae have left us alone once we did what they wanted and for all intents and purposes, these aren't the worst demands that could be made.
no subject
I don't have a fancy dress and I don't know how to do ballroom dancing.
Will that be a problem?
no subject
You need only bring yourself.
[Sure, that can change on a dime. But bare minimum they just need to show up.]
no subject
Just in case, I'll be sure to do research so I know what to expect.
[.........She's gonna watch movies with masquerades and balls, that's what she's gonna do]
no subject
What? No. Anby it's- something's weird. My name isn't Mildred, you know that right?
no subject
Not sure you know it.
no subject
Can't remember it right now. That's
It's different
