[It's rare Varian makes a post on the network to the app at large, but something has come up and he figures it's a good idea to... check. When the video pops on, his hairstripe is a worem which keeps wriggling around on his head. He seems to be doing his very best to ignore it.]

Uh. Hey- hey guys. I've got a quick question. I know that we've had some uh... old world stuff cropping up this month. [He does NOT wanna get into that, that had been a pretty damn bad time.] But I was wondering if anyone found items from their old worlds or... past lives or whatever, too?

[ He holds up a big red book with a sun emblem emblazoned across the front.]

This is the journal of King Herz Der Sonne. It's... it's an artefact from the world I come from. It's uh... kind of like a history book but with... secrets of Corona in it. Also people sign their names in it to proclaim their love for one another. That's- that's a whole thing.

A-anyway. It's one of the most guarded things in my world so I'm- uh- really confused that it somehow showed up here? I was wondering if anyone else had something like this show up in that weird store too? Just in case it's some... new epidemic or something.

[Varian is thankful (and a little sus) about Jun not mentioning the worm. But hey, good, that means he can continue to ignore it and focus on the books instead. ]

Yeah! That book. I really don't understand how it ended up here, but it's definitely the same book. I checked... a lot.

How strange... I wonder if it fell through the tear like the spirits did.

I didn't go to goodwill this weekend, so I can't say anything from my past life's world was there. Though, my past life was a rather modern Earth, so it'd probably be hard to tell if there was something in the first place.

[What a good and merciful partner he is!! The worm continues to slither around his head, and Varian continues to ignore it. ]

I mean... maybe? That's what I'm thinking. Maybe some other stuff showed up, and... I don't know, the stars guy just picked them up. Or did whatever he does to get his stock- I think that question is better left unanswered.

[ Sometimes Varian doesn't need an answer to something and this is one of those times! Where the goodwill stock comes from can remain a mystery. ]

That's a good point. I think aside from the soul devices that show up here anyway, everything else would probably... fit right in. I hope this isn't gonna be a common occurrence, there's some dangerous mystical items from my old world I'd really rather not show up here. At least the journal is relatively harmless.

Mm, that's a good point. Probably better not to think about it too much, since I doubt we'll ever get a satisfactory answer.

[Jun nods, he can think of some things he's heard about from Corona that he rather not deal with- that's for sure]

Yeah, we'll just have to keep an eye out to be sure. So what do you plan to do with the journal in the meantime?

Yeah, or if we do get an answer, it's the sort that would keep us up at night.

[ He hums at the question, turning it this way and that in his hands. He hurt Rapunzel badly to get his hands on this thing. He was never supposed to have it. And now here it is, but Varian isn't the person he was when he first tried to get this book. Even if he could use it to harm Corona now, he wouldn't. ]

I... guess I'll take care of it? It is a vital part of my culture... it kinda feels like my responsibility to make sure it's safe. Maybe I can put it out for people to sign their names in it, if they want?

[A tiny smile crosses his features. ]

Would you like to sign it with me? [ He ducks his head shyly. ] I mean, traditionally it should be done on Day of Hearts but that's passed already, so I think we're overdue one. If... you want, anyway.

[ Varian, please, he is literally going to get married to you. ]

That makes sense. The secrets it contains isn't really relevant to this world, so I don't think it needs to be guarded so heavily... but it's still a piece of your home, which that alone makes it important. [Even if Varian probably has complicated feelings about] But that sounds like a good idea... maybe Meropide's library? That might be a good place for it.

[But...oh, no. That's really cute that Varian asks that. He's aware of the custom, having Varian explain it to him a couple times]

Haha, I'd be happy to. Day of Hearts might have passed, but we can still make it special.

That... is a very fair point. I think I have been sleeping a little better lately when we do go to bed, though!

[That's because his shadow power knocks him out like a light the second his head hits the pillow, he has had nothing to do with this change of sleeping habit. ]

Yeah, no one is gonna be able to use it to map out the catacombs from here, after all. It's pretty safe. And that's... a really good idea. I think Fred would have kittens if he thought about it being anywhere in the public... which makes it all the more enticing to put it out there.

At least, not as far as she was aware. Given that her world was yet another version of Earth, for all she knew some of the weird but mundane stuff could be. Which was a kind of funny thought but that's beside the point.

"But I mean, if things can just appear or that skeleton can bring them, is it really that weird for stuff to show up there too?"

Hrm. Hopefully this isn't a one off. I do wonder if it's connected to the current gate. I mean- other worlds are showing up there. Dead... dead ones. [ He takes a deep breath, he doesn't want to think about it, so he presses on.] So I wonder if they've come from those? Somehow.

"Yeah, I saw those... That would make sense though, if some stuff came from them. I mean, if that guy who was messing with the ghosts got in there, other stuff could've gotten out too, right?"

Ritsuka had only really managed to not be too worked up because, well, what she saw there was no worse than what she'd already seen in her own world, after all.

"Probably not... I mean, the guy at the goodwill only really cares about what he sees in the stars, doesn't he?"

I think so? But...I guess he could have been picking stuff up if they fell from these worlds. Like... a beach comber looking for nice shells, maybe.

Okay, so centuries ago, the kingdom of Corona- that's where I'm from- had a king named Herz Der Sonne. Corona was was war with another kingdom, Saporia. Their leader was a fierce warrior woman named General Shampanier. The war was long and bitter. It lasted years.

Herz Der Sonne built a network of secret tunnels under Corona, to allow supplies and troops to travel in secret. He kept the maps for these inside his journal- this exact book! But he also started to develop feelings for General Shampanier- and he wrote those feelings in his journal, too. On one fateful day, the king and the general were in a bitter sword fight...when she saw the love confession in the journals pages. She realised she felt the same way about him. And so they decided to call an end to the war, get married and join the kingdoms together.

Every year since, Corona has a celebration called "The Day of Hearts" where we celebrate the ending of the war and also... well, the rest is kinda like Valentine's Day. Couples sign their name in the book as a symbol of their love for each other on the day- in memory of the fact love ended the war.

[Saporia is kind of a mess with some people definitely fighting against that, but Hermes doesn't need to know about the terrorists right now. They can just enjoy the nice story instead! ]
