I'm happy to announce Varian Vasiya and I are officially engaged.

The wedding won't be for a long time, as both of us want to complete college first. We will let relevant parties know when a date has been agreed upon, though it'll be a few years from now.

If anyone has any tips or advice about weddings or engagements, we'd appreciate that.

I'm afraid I don't have any advice on big weddings. However, one of my past lives had a small, private ceremony with just himself and his husband, and we had been content with that. I believe the best advice I can give you is to make sure that you do something that will make both of you happy. Whether that's having a private ceremony for yourselves and a bigger wedding with your loved ones later, or however you want to handle it. As long as you're both happy with it, that is enough.

Truth be told, both of us would be fine with eloping- but we want to have the wedding ceremony for our families. We're our fathers' only children, so we want to give them this in return for all they've done with taking care of us. We're both on the same page about that.

Practical advice would be to take this time to trial run how you wanna do finances and make a list of all the places you need to inform of your legal marriage. Like health insurance, taxes, and all that.

But for the relationship advice... remember not to take each other for granted. It can be really easy to forget that a relationship will still take some work even after the wedding. Keep listening to each other, especially when it's hard.

I have some advice, but much of it is rather outdated. If this were 1735 I would've told you to take care what you write in your letters to each other and not to worry too much about the length of time, but that's a moot point these days with the Internet.

However, I will say: keep in touch. Always. No matter what. Caroline wrote me letters that I was never able to read because I never actually had a fixed address for her to send them to. Had I gotten to read them, perhaps I might've met my daughter sooner.

Haha, that's good advice. Varian and I already have an agreement to contact each other at least once a week, and I'm sure it'll be easier once we're married and living together full time. But if I ever have to go on a long mission again, I'll be sure to keep in touch.

I'm sorry you didn't get to meet your daughter sooner. Though that particular pain most likely shouldn't be a worry for us. While I like to shapeshift sometimes to have a more feminine form- I can't really maintain it for more than a day or two straight.
