Looking for advice- how do you make sure you've got the right bottle in the shower if the bottle keeps mysteriously replacing itself? I've put this shampoo bottle back in the cabinet four times now, and I don't want to accidentally use it again.

I can't be the only one with this problem.

Good news! Scrap the question about the bottle, I found out what happened.

Bad news:

[Behold a picture of a three tailed fox! With so much hair. Maybe it's not even a fox, just a giant mass of orange fur. It's a mystery.]

Who has experience shaving animals, we're afraid to see what happens when she turns back.

"It was one of the safe places last November, so..."

How's that trimming coming, anyway?

"I remember that- I didn't get a chance to drop in, I spent most of my time hiding in Undertown honestly..."

The woman wrinkles her nose, and tries to pull what's been cut away from what hasn't.

They are perhaps halfway to making Ritsuka look like an exaggerated shi-tzu.

Yasuho continues with the small talk. "I was going to look into some classes there, but after that experience just before December I was a little worried about it honestly. I'm pretty sure one of those pokemon has the same name as an entire department, I didn't want that risk..."

What if she went into the building and a spontaneous stampede started?? Not worth it.

".. Oh, yeah."

That whole... incident with the pokemon freaking out and starting a fire. That sure had been a thing! Even if Ritsuka personally was still of the opinion that it really was those other folks who'd started it...

"Though, haven't they been around for a while, too? POKEGO, I mean. Not a super long time like the Black Order, but they've been doing stuff with that one spirit gate for a while, right? So... I wonder if they can help out if someone needs it."

Maybe they have a safe house or two for emergencies, is what she's thinking. She really knows next to nothing though, so take her musings with a hefty grain of salt.

She's not completely figured out that the Curse has since been countered, but no one can really blame her for not wanting to test it.

"Mnh? ...Pokego? Uh...I think they're more of a STEM group than anything like that. My cousin's friend, Josuke, he works with them but normally the only 'work related' things that come up are how his pokemon are doing- We compare duck notes."

As if to highlight this, Polly comes waddling into the room from her nest.

...She takes one look at all the piled fur and goes for it. "WAK."

"....Huh, maybe that's what I can use it for... ...well. Anyway, the rest of the time it's normally just how he's handling pre-med."

So not a whole lot about what the faction actually Does, no.

"Well I mean the pokemon come from the spirit realm originally right? So they must at least know how to deal with stuff from there..."

Which could, obviously, be dangerous at times! Mostly she just has doubts that an organization doing research like that for however many years could survive without having some way to stay safe. And there is so much fur, it really would be a shame not to use it for something.

"Wouldn't hurt to ask, though. I mean, especially if he doesn't already have a plan in case things get worse here, you know?"

"Ah-" Oh shit-

"Right he could be in just as much danger..."

Absently, another sheaf of fur is cut. It's not accurate to say Ritsuka's almost free, but she's at least almost scoopable.

"I'll message him after this too then- he hasn't said anything about being in trouble, but I can't really see why he would either..." Normally you tell people who can Help that you're in trouble.

If anything, Yasuho suspects that Josuke would be more likely to ask if she needs it, which she'd like to think she doesn't.

"Probably a good idea... I'd bet it'd be at least a little while before anything happens, but it doesn't hurt to be ready, you know?"

Meanwhile, there's some movement and shifting about of the central clump of fur, before settling down with what sounds suspiciously like a whine.

And one last....cut.

"Yeah." Hopefully she remembers to message everyone, but that's neither here nor there. for now, there's other things to worry about.

(And anyway, she'll certainly remember if things get dicey again.)

"...I think that's as good as I'm getting with the sword...can you stand alright?"

"I think so...?"

It's still pretty awkward, because there is a lot of fur here even with the majority being chopped off, but at least she's mostly able to get to her feet. As far as it's possible to tell, at least, given that she probably looks more like a fox-sized mop right now than anything.

"I can't quite reach to scratch my ear, though."

There's just too much fur getting in the way and she's itchy.

Yasuho winces.

"...We might have to uh...get some professionals involved at this point..." Ooooooooh, this is going to be tricky... "I don't suppose you found any good dog groomers after you got that dog..?"

"Oh, I usually just brush her myself?"

Keke is, thankfully, not quite long-haired enough to require fancy grooming as long as Ritsuka stays on top of that.

"Though maybe try just a regular scissors now that most of it is gone?"

Meanwhile, that itch she was complaining about must be really bugging her, because she tries again to raise a paw to scratch behind her ear... Only to be foiled once more as all the extra fur padding makes it as effective as scratching with thick mittens on.

"Fair, I'd hoped we could get away with not skimming the stuff online..."

Alas, here they are. She does fortunately have a pair of scissors here though, so she'll just start rooting around for those.

"I can probably get some of this trimmed down, but I really don't feel comfortable getting too close with these- for all I know you'd turn back and end up with a buzzcut, and that's without getting into the chances I actually cut you..."

It'd just be a nick with the scissors of course, but that's still not great!

"Yeah, but it'd help if I could move without so much getting in the way..."

And scratch itches! That itch is driving her crazy, it's taking all her willpower to sit still and not whine.

"We'll just have to hope this works- at least enough to get someone else to finish the job..."

The scissors obtained, she comes trotting back- it's a bit weird not hearing her new hooves clack, thanks to all the hair everywhere- and stoops down. "Try...really hard not to move too much, got it?"

"Right..."

Much as the itchy ear nags her, she'll do her best to sit absolutely still!

Which actually is pretty good, considering. She's had some experience with needing to hold still and hide from something or another and things like that, after all.

Snip snip....ssssssnip snip....

It all seems to be going well at least...snip....

"Okay....I think I got that ear, how's it feel though..?"

On the one hand, there's still a lot of fur on her legs and feet. On the other hand, thanks to the magic of convex versus concave surfaces, it's not nearly as much of a problem to mostly push it aside and out of the way.

Which is to say that as soon as Yasuho backs off with the scissors and gives the go-ahead, there is some furious scratching before Ritsuka replies.

"Yeah, that's better."

Does she mean the trimming or the itch??

Ohhhh thank goodness this is going so much easier....

"Great! I-"

Wait that's a good question what. Does Ritsuka mean- "...the itching, or the cutting I'm doing..?"

"... oh, uh."

...

"Yes?"

Look, it had been really itchy, okay??

"....Right...well, let's just get the rest so that we can find someone to clean up the job...that or so you can change back and we trim the rest from there anyway."

"Right..."

She'll hold still, but she's still not at all sure if the changing back idea will even work, or if she'll just end up looking normal there with awkwardly long patches of fur in this form.

The easiest parts to trim at this point are the tails- they're long, they're tails, and ultimately if she cuts a little too much off-

"Ah..."

...Well it just looks kinda funky.

By the end of what she's confident with, Ritsuka mostly looks like a very, very round fox. That's so much fur....

"I think this is as best as I can risk it without really manhandling you...it'll probably be easier if you can turn back now."

Somewhere, literal worlds away, a certain Demi-Servant is probably getting the strangest feeling that there's something she really wishes she could see.

"Well, it's better than before, at least..."

Though she's going to take a moment to really stretch first, being first weigh down by all that fur and then having to carefully hold still really was less than comfortable.

It's fine, probably. It'll all be fine.

"That's the most we could hope for at this point. I'll try labelling the bottle more obviously from now on..."

Unspoken is the fact that if Ritsuka tries to prank Yasuho with a label swap or something, it's not really going to help things though. Come to think, that's probably what got them here.

"Err, right..."

Maybe Ritsuka will just have to lay off that prank in particular going forward. Or be more careful not to get dirty while a fox.

In any case, if Yasuho wants to snap a photo of furball Ritsuka, now's probably her last chance!
