Mmhm, sure, Neuvillette. Can't help with the vodka or rum, but I've got some good wine.
Have you been to the beach here, yet?
no subject
I am not imbibing with the likes of you.
[typing bubble…]
What kind of wine is it? And no. I am currently avoiding all bodies of water.

[Venti sends Neuvillette a photo of his wine cabinet. It's all arranged neatly by year, type, and country. For how much he enjoys drinking wine, there's not as much as one would expect.]
I've got a selection to choose from! French, Italian, American... Aged or brand new, sparkling or flat, red, rose, or white, take your pick!
Is there a reason you're avoiding water? Or am I prying too much?
no subject
I would have thought you would own an entire liquor store.
Anything that will get me intoxicated for a while will do. Do not waste good vintages on me.
[he types for a long five minutes.]
I told you I have recalled memories of being the Hydro Dragon. Every time I see a body of water I am reminded of this; I do not want to be. I don’t want any of it at all.
Private forever!
Oh, then you want my box wine. I've got something stronger if you don't care about the illusion of refinement. I've got a bottle or two of good whiskey.
[Ah... Venti will go ahead and make this private for Neuvillette's sake.]
I know you don't like me, and you especially don't like my past life, but I can listen if you want to talk about it. Sometimes talking or writing about those memories helps to organize what you're feeling and thinking, you know?
But I also understand if you'd rather not. It's okay to not want anything to do with those memories.

The whiskey would be fine. I will pay for it. How much do I owe you? And how did you enable the private filter?
And. Why are you offering this? We are worse than strangers.
no subject
Consider it a gift! And the second bottle an apology. Unfortunately, I know the feeling of wanting to forget certain memories too well.
[He'll send Neuvillette screenshots and step by step instructions on how to set up a private filter.]
I liked talking to you, and I want to understand you. It's as simple as that.
[There's a lot of starting and stopping for a few minutes on Venti's end, which is kind of unusual for the bard.]
I met and befriended Azhdaha in this life almost 1500 years ago. At the time, I was living in Wales and so visits to mainland Europe, let alone China, were extremely rare, but we made do with letters. I still have the letters he had sent me back then.
I bring this up because I want to ask if you wanted them, and if you wanted me to talk about him or answer any questions you had. If you'd rather I just stayed silent, I'll respect your wish.
I'll be honest, I'm kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place. Some things were told to me in confidence, some things I'm not sure it's my place to even talk about at all, and time is heavily against me, but I also want to respect your feelings, too.

No. I do not want any gifts from you. A favor perhaps, to be repaid at a later time.
[you see. against all odds. he might actually want to Hang Out in the far future when he isn't seized by the urge to throttle barbatos' royal archon-ness every five seconds.]
I would like to see the letters. I will have someone pick them up from wherever you prefer.
[what does he Mean by that last part? is this some cryptic god warning? gods always had those.]I will contact you first if I wish to talk.
[typing bubble........]
1500 years ago?

[He's willing to meet Neuvillette halfway, at least. And it'd be nice to eventually hang out with him as a friend.]
That's fine by me. You can have them pick it up from The Vogue. They just need to ask for me. And okay! I'll eagerly await the beautiful dragon's text with baited breath.
[Venti can't help himself.]
Ah, yes, indeed. I was born human in old Wales back in... gosh, 480? 478? CE? I don't remember. Anyway, back then, I was going by a different name. Eh, a couple different ones, actually. In Wales I was going by Merlin and later on in England I was going by Shakespeare. One day, I noticed that I didn't age like the people around me, and so I needed to do that for my own safety.

he had a massive infatuation with merlin. back then. how could he not. the magical community was well-knit and well-hidden and well.]

By any chance. Is this the same Merlin who served King Arthur?
no subject
The very same. He was a close friend.

I never did need to seek an audience with him or his court, but he was one of the fairer monarchs at that time, so I’d heard. You kept good company it seems.
