OH MY GOD, the weird worm thing happened to me!!!

[His one teal hairstripe is now own of those worems, it wiggles about with it's wide, unblinking gaze. It does not seem to care the distress its causing the person it's attached to.]

This is NOT something that should happen to someone twice in their lives! At least the last one was a dimensional anomaly and it stopped when I got out of there. Does anyone know how to get rid of it? Other people have HAD this right?

[Sulkily:]

It's bad enough I've got the sundrop power in my hair too, which I absolutely should not have because that thing got thrown into SPACE. Can weird stuff stop happening to my hair please?

The worem is definitely wiggling. It turns its googly-eyed head in the direction of the camera. It stares, unblinking at Ritsuka.

"Uhhhhhh yep, yeah it's definitely alive."

Ritsuka has seen many, many strange things, but this somehow manages to be a new one.

"But how does--" Actually you know what nevermind there probably isn't any good answer to that. "Uh, hopefully it'll go away on its own...?"

"I don't knoooooow," he can guess what the question is, he's a big science nerd, he's wondering too. "I really hope so. I don't need it to get in my way while I'm trying to work. And jeez, high school is hard enough without this."

"... I can't even imagine trying to go to school like that."

Granted, all the saving the world stuff means she's never actually finished high school, but still.

"Wait, didn't you say something like that had happened before??"

"I'm in my senior year, I definitely can't miss any days! I guess I can try wearing a...beanie or something? I do have a hoodie?"

Will those work? Maybe. The hoodie is magical so the normies might not realise anything is up with it!

"Yup. Back in my old world, I went into this uh... other dimension. For complicated reasons. But it changed all of our physiologies when we were trapped there. My hair stripe turned into a talking snake. With goggles. It was weird."

"That might work, as long as it doesn't move around a lot... Do you sit in the back of the class? I bet it'd be easier to hide if you do."

On the other hand, if his desk is in the front, welp. Good luck?

"That does sound pretty weird, yeah. This one doesn't talk though, does it?"

"I mean, yeah, usually. I guess I can sink pretty low at my desk? That might work."

He doesn't sound that convinced, though.

"No, thank god. It just..wiggles. At stares. It stares so much. But I'll take that over the talking snake honestly."

"Maybe as long as people don't see it moving, if someone sees it by accident you could say someone stuck it to you as a prank?"

Like with superglue or something that wouldn't come off easily. A pity it's a bit too early to claim it's a Halloween costume.

"That's good, at least." As much as anything about the situation can be called 'good' that is. "Hopefully it'll go away on its own, though."

[droptheious]

"I guess? It helps a lot of the kids and teachers are regular folks? Like, not on the app. They might not see it for what it is?"

Which is the one thing they can be glad for. Though, admittedly, it's October next month and given what happened LAST year, that might not stay the case. Hopefully it'll be gone by then.

"Thaaaaat's what I'm counting on, yeah."

"Oh yeah, they might think it's a funny hat or something as long as they don't look too closely, huh... So as long as you can mostly hide it, I guess you might be fine?"

That weirdness censor thing sure can come in handy in times like this.

It really does come in for a winner sometimes.

"Yeah, exactly! And hopefully, I'll only have to fake it for like... a week and then everything will go back to normal again."

"Right, so you can just focus on making it that long for now and see what happens."

And if it doesn't disappear, then power through another week. And another. As long as needed. Sometimes that's the only way to deal with situations that seem hopeless or endless...

"Thaaaaat's the hope, yep!"

Sometimes that's all a person can do!!
