[Network Post] March into March!

WHO: Everyone!
WHERE: Libra App
WHEN: March 1st
WHAT: Zodiac Network Post
WARNINGS: None!

[Wherever you are, your phone will start to ring and vibrate. It doesn’t matter if your phone was off or on mute - it will ring anyway. Checking the phone, you'll see the Libra app has opened itself and will not close until you read and response to a new post from Zodiac]

Hello! Thank you for using the Libra App!

Just a few quick words today! First of all, we'd like to extend a congratulations to Horse! While Zodiac is looking into ways to return everyone to their homes, Horse took the initiative and found a way on her own! She truly showed that a can-do attitude truly is all you need to overcome barriers! We're proud of you, Horse, you're an inspiration to all of us, and we wish you the best wherever you may be.

But for the rest of you, don't worry! Zodiac is still here to monitor the situation and support you where it's needed. As we mentioned before, everyone on this app is experiencing unusual spirit readings. We've also found that this may cause some side effects such as a change in hair or eye color, new unusual body parts, new abilities and minor memory problems. So far there's no indication that these side effects are serious, so try not to worry about it! We promise to continue to keep you informed, as Zodiac values good and open communication.

Also, thank you for all your specimen donations last month! They will help in our understanding of how to utilize the Spirit Realm for the benefit of humanity.

Now, let's end things off with an icebreaker question!

This post has been sponsored by Mayfield Cafe! Come for the Sea-Salt Ice Cream, Stay for the Hedgehog Croquet!

[Users will have the option to choose their own display names and userpics if they haven't already. If nothing is chosen, the app will use their real name and a quick photo taken of them from their camera's phone. Like always, there'll be no responses from Zodiac]

[He needs to get ahold of an atlas at this rate....]

It isn't that different from here, then?

Nope. Despite the name other creatures live there, too. I'm a witch.
fiddlestick: (headscratch)

[personal profile] fiddlestick 2022-03-02 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
[UHHH....]

Yeah, I guess? At least compared to the Demon Realm, it's more similar to here than there I'd imagine. Though there's cultural differences.

A witch? I didn't realize those were different from humans.

[He's going to make a mental note to look up Canada.]

They are where I'm from. We have anatomical differences, the most obvious one is that our ears are different from yours. The biggest one, though, is that we have bile sacs attached to our hearts and humans don't.
fiddlestick: (oh no)

[personal profile] fiddlestick 2022-03-02 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I noticed the ears...

[Or he did after he got the app anyway. It's weird thinking how he kept overlooking them before]

Bile sacs attached to your hearts? What are those for?

[He's no doctor but that sounds...bad???]

[personal profile] cardinalrule 2022-03-02 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
It's weird being the odd one out about those.

[Urgh, now he knows how Luz feels.]

Magic. A witch's bile sac contains different kinds of magic phlegm that, when combined in specific ways, allows a witch to cast spells.

[So it's perfectly normal gross magic anatomy.]
fiddlestick: (elliot203)

[personal profile] fiddlestick 2022-03-02 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure it is if you're not used to humans.

[Magic phlegm...yeah. That sounds gross. But he supposes so does a lot of bodily functions so just...roll with it!]

I see...so does that mean you can use magic?
cardinalrule: (skeptical)

[personal profile] cardinalrule 2022-03-03 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Before winding up here I had met a grand total of one human, so I'm not.

[Why do people asking him this....]

Back home I was the head of the most prestigious coven in the Boiling Isles. Only witches who are the most skilled in their magic track can become heads.
fiddlestick: (headscratch)

[personal profile] fiddlestick 2022-03-03 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Just one, huh. So you've been thrown off the deep end with this then...

[That's gotta be rough. And they ask because you have magic bile sack!! ]

Really? At your age? Do witches age differently than humans?
cardinalrule: (you've got a point)

[personal profile] cardinalrule 2022-03-03 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
That's one way of putting it.

[That's exactly how it is, actually.]

No? I don't think so, as far as I can tell we age at about the same rate. [So he's just a prodigy, that's all.]
fiddlestick: (elliot220)

[personal profile] fiddlestick 2022-03-03 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
I see, then that's really impressive to earn such a spot at your age!

So what does the head of a coven do?
cardinalrule: (arrogant)

[personal profile] cardinalrule 2022-03-03 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. Yes, it is.

[Except it was pretty much just nepotism and Belos being a manipulative bastard that got him the position.]

We make sure our coven is running smoothly, and recruit new members. My coven, the Emperor's Coven, serves as law enforcement and the Boiling Isle's judiciary system, so I'm responsible for all of that, too.
fiddlestick: (elliot203)

[personal profile] fiddlestick 2022-03-03 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
[ . . .

Did they seriously put a 16 year old in charge of law enforcement? Elliot knows America's got some serious issues with its law enforcement but this seems next level]

Does being good at magic make you good at running a judiciary system? That feels like two different skillsets.

cardinalrule: (listening)

[personal profile] cardinalrule 2022-03-03 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
[Yes, yes Belos did.]

I've got subordinates who manage the day-to-day business. The Boiling Isles is a big place, I don't have time to be everywhere and handle everything all of the time. Plus, unlike the other coven heads I receive a lot of assignments directly from the Emperor.
fiddlestick: (elliot126)

[personal profile] fiddlestick 2022-03-03 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
I see...

[Yeah, something feels real off here. But it's not like Elliot knows enough about the situation to put his finger on it, and he rather not get Hunter feeling defensive. So he'll just make a mental note of it before moving on]

Sounds like a lot of responsibility. No wonder you feel like you don't need school.
cardinalrule: (here's why you're wrong)

[personal profile] cardinalrule 2022-03-03 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
It's insulting, honestly. I was given that responsibility for a reason, by the Emperor himself, and Zodiac has decided to spit on that.

[Hunter is sure that if Belos knew about any of this he'd be incredibly disappointed in him for (reluctantly) going along with this, and that's the worst part of all of this.]
fiddlestick: (elliot113)

[personal profile] fiddlestick 2022-03-03 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think it's meant to be an insult.

It sounds like you're a talented young man, possibly a prodigy if you were given that rank at your age.
[Sure, there's still something fishy about it-- but he has to have skill for people to go along with it] Speaking as one myself - being a prodigy will only get you so far if you don't keep working to improve yourself. Eventually others will catch up...maybe even surpass you.

Going to a human school is a perfect opportunity for you to improve. You'll be able to learn skills and knowledge that other people in the Boiling Isles don't. It'll give you an edge, I think.

cardinalrule: (open up)

[personal profile] cardinalrule 2022-03-04 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
I've been called that by more than a few people back home.

[Including the previous head of the Emperor's Coven. She haaaaated him for that. A lot of people did, actually.]

You've got some good points. [And part of him is kind of interested in what human kids learn in school. But...] But I need to focus on doing whatever I can to either find a portal home, or making a portal home. Everything else is secondary to going home.
fiddlestick: (elliot198)

[personal profile] fiddlestick 2022-03-04 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Ehe, I had a feeling.

[Someone at that age being given a position like that? Of course that word's going to get thrown around]

I understand that, but couldn't knowing more about the human world help with that too? Even if Kaisou High doesn't have a "Portals 101" class, applying stuff you learn from other subjects might help you think up some new leads when you're stuck.
cardinalrule: (here's why you're wrong)

[personal profile] cardinalrule 2022-03-04 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't see how it could.

[He's thinking on this a bit more, though.]

But I don't like the idea of dismissing something just because I can't see how it could help this second. Who knows, maybe you'll be right.
fiddlestick: (elliot156)

[personal profile] fiddlestick 2022-03-05 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
That's the spirit!

[Success! Does he know if anything in high school will help sort out making a portal? He has no idea, he thought portals were just a fictional thing two days ago. But if nothing else, maybe being around other kids his age will benefit Hunter. For all his genius, he was still a kid. Just like Musse.

- Wait, who's Musse? Nngh- lets not bring it up with the students]

I'll see you in class tomorrow, right?
cardinalrule: (yeah sure)

[personal profile] cardinalrule 2022-03-05 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ugh, this is such a bad idea. He's pretty sure if Belos was here he unequivocally wouldn't want him wasting his time attending school for humans.

But if there's even a slim chance of it being useful in finding a way home (or helping his uncle) then it has to be worthwhile. He'll just keep telling himself that.]

I guess so.
