WHEN: 23 May
WHAT: Announcing the Vogue's pride event!
WARNINGS: It's Zulius, there's always a chance comments will skew into innuendo.
[The video feed turns on and it's everyone's favourite zebrataur! Maybe because he's the ONLY zebrataur, but that's just a detail. This time however, Zulius has decided to do this in drag- something that will be blatantly obvious why soon]
Hellloooo beautiful people! Your Resident Ten is here with some FABulous news for new month. As MOST of you should know, June is the best month all year because it's Pride. [There's definitely a show of rainbows with a little wave of her hands here. You know. For effect. ] The city always does a parade which apparently some people are "Too Much" to take part in anymore, but that's fine because The Vogue is where it's gonna BE next month! Because it's FABULOUS SEASON!
SO! Every night and weekend we've got a full-on Pride Party in the bar. Our bar staff have been working on some INSANE cocktails, and we've got a dancing space and everything. All drinks sales in June are divvied up between a bunch of small LGTBQA+ charities around the city, so why wouldn't you get wasted? It's for charity! I'm expecting people to have the time of their lives, because it's OUR month. [Is that a thinly veiled threat to have a good time? A little.] For the first three weeks of the month our resident thespians are putting one some great queer musicals before the party time for you all to enjoy! We got Fun Home (let's GO, lesbians!), Hedwig and the Angry Inch (because we gotta queer them genders!) finishing up with & Juliet (because everyone can agree Shakespeare is better with non-binary folks in center stage). You'll for SURE see some folks you know in the production, so you go and support your friends and fam!
[She claps her hands excitedly.]
Buuuuuuuuuuut the BEST thing that's going down, and the reason the glorious Zu-Zu Electric Boogaloo is here today is that the last week will be a drag competition that anyone is allowed to enter. Queens and kings! We're talking design challenges, we're talking Snatch Game, we're talking lip synching for your liiiiiife. It's gonna be sickening. Winners gets a cash prize of $5,000, so come on and give this a try. You never know, you might learn something about yourself!
Aaaaaand as a general FYI, the Vogue'll be closed for the first week of July. My staff need some paid vacay time after Fabulous Season to take a break- and I mean actually take a break and relax looking directly at you, Takame Kesi and THIS bitch needs to go for Fire Island for the Invasion of the Pines. Even if I have to fed-ex myself there.
[[OOC: There will be a player-event log for the Vogue's Pride celebrations going up next month- look out for it! Image credit]]

But first thing was first].
WOW. Zulius. You look amazing! And I had no idea they celebrated Pride here!
Maybe I can find something young adults can do to celebrate. Is that even a thing?

[Zulius is a little surprised by her comment, though. Kaisou's a pretty fairly sized city, and it's always had Pride celebrations in it.]
You kidding? They have a Pride parade every year. I used to be on the committee before they decided I was too EXTRA for it. Rude.
[There's a shoulder shrug and a little I dunno sound at her question. ]
Noooooot really my area, kid stuff, y'know? That time for me is past. [Which is not admitting he's old, but still. He's 30, he's not been a "young adult" for a whole time. ] There's some leaflets at The Vogue you can have about the charities in they city I'm supporting this year. Some of them probably have like...youth programs or something.

[Luz hadn't ever thought of joining pride before, because there was really no one she could do that with. The lack of friends on earth had made that something she just quietly celebrated online. Having her first girlfriend had made Luz very aware of how much harder it might be for other queer kids who would want their own safe space to share stories and maybe find someone special themselves].
"Too extra?" That's a thing?
[Luz didn't like how judgmental that sounded. Certainly, she didn't like the implication of what that might mean].
Hmm. True. And if they don't...someone could sure start one themselves, right?
no subject
[Now's her chance to really enjoy it! ]
Sccccchyeah apparently? I think it's BOgus too, but, whatevs, I don't have the power to overthrow it, so MINE will be the best party there is.
[Zulius is thankful for someone in his corner, thanks kid!]
Sure? I can't see why you can't be like, proactive about this.
no subject
[And that meant festivals and food and probably lots of kids her age with free time, now that school was likely over]!
Which is a totally normal reaction to being excluded. If they won't let you party your way, make them WANT to.
[Luz approved of these antics. It's something she knew Eda would totally do, if she were into planning a celebration and was pushed out of it].
Right?! I just need to find a place to gather, see what kinda stuff kids around here are into, and then have some gatherings take place! I'll see if I can get music, some snacks...maybe even a movie night!
Assuming things don't go strange, like they do sometimes.
no subject
[He'll give her some primo finger-guns.]
There you go. I-dee-kay, I think there's probs some youth club or like...events hall or something you can do that in. Throw in some streamers, some bean bags, like...maybe a smoke machine? Do the kids like smoke machines now? It'd be poppin'.
I think it's like, pretty much guaranteed that things'll go strange. You gotta just not let it cramp your style.
no subject
[It was a good thing her mom (and Eda) taught her to be self sufficient that way].
Ooh, those are all great ideas! I could even ask if they'll let me arrange a dance! That's bound to get people interested! Do you know any good LGBTA charities that we could donate to?
[If she had a fee, then the money could go there too]!
You have a point. Since when is strange stuff stopping me? I'll bet it wouldn't stop you, right?
no subject
[Most of it doesn't fit him anymore, but whatever, he's just gonna buy a metric-ton of Hawaiian shirts! ]
Sure, gimmie sec, I'll link you the ones I'm donating drinks funds to this month, they're all in the city.
[He'll attach a link to the various LGTBA+ charities running in the city, it's a pretty nice list!]
You can't really top "waking up a centaur" when it comes to strange stuff happening to you, kiddo. WAY easier to roll with the punches when you already started at a ten.
no subject
[She'd still keep her 'witches wool' cape since that one was from Eda and was special].
Great, thanks! Now all I have to do is find a place to host and convince them to help me spearhead a few fun nights!
[Luz was pretty sure she could convince someone to do it, the trouble would be getting the space, she imagined].
Hmm. Yeah. Yeah, I'd say that beats out most strange things if that's how you just wake up.
[Moxxie also came to mind].
no subject
[He got one from there and it's FABULOUS.]
Good luck with that, Kiddo!
First line is said in a John Mulaney type way;)
[Luz wanted a fabulous cape! Well, another one anyway].
Thanks! I'll look into it! I might not be able to do everything, but I can start somewhere, right?
