video | un: empyrean
WHO: Kaveh and you
WHERE: the app
WHEN: early May
WHAT: A new arrival complains about a weird development in his life.
WARNINGS: none!
[ The video opens with a shot of a certain sparse as fuck tiny basement apartment, before the phone's owner adjusts the available options, switching from the rear camera to its front-facing counterpart. The user posting under the name 'empyrean' turns out to be a young man in his mid-to-late twenties with a pretty face, long golden yellow hair, and oddly distinctive red eyes. He hasn't yet realized they're no longer brown. ]
Is this thing on? Yes, okay. Ahem.
[ At first he's only muttering to himself, but as soon as he verifies the recording is live, he begins properly. ]
I've been doing some reading. It seems this app appears on someone's phone shortly before strange things begin to occur? I'll admit I hardly understand half of what you people are talking about; it all seems too strange to be true. But, considering I've just had my own supernatural encounter, I'm not in any place to judge.
[ Kaveh reverses the camera again, this time revealing a small green plant-like creature perched contently on his knee. It's a Budew, but he doesn't know that. ]
Can any of you explain how my roommate's plush toy just came to life? I'm not really sure what I should do about this.
Knowing him, he'll probably blame this on me somehow.

[He snorts lightly.]
Just saying, Jun's usually got a pretty good nose for these kinds of things. [That or he's a big ol' drama stirer. That too.] Might be worth looking into that.

[ Kaveh is muttering to himself, but not quietly enough to avoid being picked up by his phone's microphone. When he finally lowers his hand from his mouth and addresses the camera properly, he does so at a normal volume. ]
Ugh. Well, I'll take it under consideration.
[ By which he means he really hopes the peanut gallery is wrong about this one. ]

[That's. Probably reassuring, right?]
You'd probs have options!

[ Despite his looks, Kaveh is not accustomed to garnering that sort of praise. He hasn't really hung out with the kind of people who might offer such assurances, and as such, he's visibly flustered in response. ]
Thank you? You're very—um, good-looking yourself.
[ Is that how you're supposed to respond to praise?? Kaveh has no idea. ]

I know! Thanks for noticing! It's hard work being a work of art, but when people appreciate it, it makes it all worthwhile.
[Just...putting words in Kaveh's mouth, don't mind him.]

I'm an architect, so I know a lot about works of art.
[ Is he agreeing? Implying he could build a statue of Zulius? Who knows. ]
no subject
You are? Please, tell me more. I love learning about art, especially if that art is me.
[The fact he DOESN'T have a statue yet is, frankly, a crime in his mind.]

The nerdery wins out. ]
At first glance, one might not think that architecture and sculpture have much in common, beyond the final product in both cases occupying three-dimensional space, but a lot of the same principles of design apply when designing both buildings and statues.
For example, emphasis, space, and balance are all important factors to consider when creating a work of art that will stand the test of time. You should also consider how you want the work to be viewed.
A certain pose might look great from one particular angle, but that same pose might fail to capture the grandiose effect you desire if, say, it's placed upon a pedestal overhead, or if it's in the center of a plaza where people will view your likeness from a variety of different angles.
It's a designer's job to take all these factors into account while coming up with a proposal. This means finding the right balance between the client's aspirations and their budget, how best to utilize the space and materials available, and most importantly: crafting a design that elevates the natural beauty of the subject in question.

Ohhhhhh, so basically angles are EVERYTHING! That makes sense! Sounds like the whole thing is a balancing act, huh? I do appreciate people being able to elevate beauty, that's important!
