WHO: Katida and anyone
WHERE: video post on the network; un: Astral
WHEN: May 7, afternoon
WHAT: Someone's been brought back into the fold (and immediately got her stupid "hat" back).
WARNINGS: Some language.

[It's the middle of the afternoon and Katida is opening her phone's apps menu, intending to boot up one of the games she has on the device, but then she pauses when she finds something unfamiliar. Her phone's periodically automatically added some simple games and other things over time with its updates, which is a bit of an annoyance, but she's since accepted that as just a thing that happens. So, she doesn't think a whole lot of the appearance of yet another new app, and simply goes to open it up and see what its whole deal is so she can decide if it's something she'd want to use or ignore or whatever.
At first, it looks to her like it's a social networking app with some kind of fantasy roleplay bent, a thought that strikes her as oddly familiar, like she's seen something similar sometime before. Continued browsing, going from newer posts to older ones but only glancing over them, eventually brings her attention to something odd: she's apparently been on here before. Or, at least it's someone using her usual go-to username that also sounds like her and mostly resembles her, and the post in question is their freaking out over a dragon head that's appeared on top of her head like some kind of weird living hat that she can't take off.
"Fucking 'new unusual body parts,' they'd said. God, please just end me now."
Seeing that postβand then seeing one of the responses it received confirming that it was in fact herβbrings back some memories that had somehow been completely lost. The nigh-unberable headache she'd suffered that day. The time that the city was overrun by dinosaurs. The magic she'd somehow come to possess, which despite memories of it coming back to her, the magic itself now eludes her. The weird purple bird that had practically forced its way into her life one day, now nowhere to be found. Some vague other memories that aren't even hers, but were thought to belong to someone she'd been in a past life.
She stares at the phone's screen as she processes at all, and then she starts feeling a new headache coming on, growing in intensity quickly enough that there's no denying what's about to happen next.
Mother fuck.]

[Several minutes later, she goes to start the camera for making a new video post. Any current students or faculty at Kaisou High might recognize her as a student from this year's senior class, the short and quiet brown-haired girl with the blue-gray eyes who tends to keep to herself, except she's not so brown-haired or blue-eyed anymore; her hair and eyes have already changed to white and pink respectively, and the weird pink dragon head is once again sitting on top of her head. She stares into the phone's camera, looking a bit less than amused. The dragon head stares into the camera too, buts its red-eyed gaze is something a bit more vacant.]
Well, I guess this is happening again. Or I guess it's more like it never stopped happening and I just wasn't able to see it for awhile. Whichever. Can someone give me a quick and dirty rundown on like...the past eight months or so? Just the important stuff, I don't need to know everything. [She can go actively reading through old posts and piece things together that way if she has to, but it'll probably be quicker to have someone get her up to speed.]

Katida? You're back on the app?
no subject
Hey, Jun. Sure does look that way, doesn't it? Could've done without this guy coming back too, though. [She briefly tilts the phone up to point the camera more toward the dragon head, before angling it back down toward her own face.] The headache wasn't as bad as I remember it being the first time around, at least.
no subject
Oh-he came back too huh? That's unfortunate.
Does your head still hurt?
no subject
The headache's mostly gone already, but I'm not sure if that's because I've already gone through this thing once before or what.
no subject
[Sure,it might make people think you're in a cult-but it'll get people to back off!]
Hmm...it's possible. Even though you forgot for awhile, maybe the physical memory was still there.
no subject
Plus, a similar suggestion had been made the last time.]
... I could try that.
I should probably find out what people even see when they look at it, too. [Because wearing stuff that matches what people perceive it as would hopefully make it a little less questionable, right?]
no subject
At least...I find most people rather not talk religion if they can avoid it.
[At least, from his experience as a holy knight. Boy people are awkward about that sometimes]
no subject
And hopefully those people have enough sense to back off if I tell them I'd rather not discuss it. [Beat.] Since, y'know, personal life things.
no subject
Look if they keep asking questions just insist it's part of your religion not to discuss it with outsiders. Sure it might raise some eyebrows about what you're worshipping but...it'll get people to back off.
no subject
While I'm thinking about this stupid thing, though, I'm still kind of surprised your dad didn't try to insist on taking me to a second exorcism back when it appeared the first time. [Abel was on the app at that time...]
no subject
Well, my dad isn't on the app anymore. I actually moved out a couple months ago, so I try to keep him out of the more supernatural aspects of my life when I can.
[In other words, leave his dad alone to live a normal life. He deserves that much]
no subject
She knows what no longer being on the app meansβnow from personal experience, evenβso the matter of reaction (or apparent lack thereof) to the dragon head is pretty much immediately dropped, despite the dragon head having originally happened at a time where it could have been reacted to.
So, shifting gears a bit with the aim of trying to catch up a bit.]
You did, huh? [Obviously still somewhere within the city, but she's not going to press him to find out where, figuring if he's okay with her knowing, then he'll just tell her.] Actually, what have you been up to lately, anyway?
no subject
Lately? Well I'm still in school, but I'm considering switching majors. In the meantime, I've been helping out some guys from POKEGO- Sorey and Mikleo. They're really kind people.
Though uh- I'm not sure if you caught it, but Professor Willow was up to no good.
no subject
And I did do some skimming back through older postsβ [It's her finding one of her own posts that jarred some of her memories of the last time.] βbut haven't really done any sort of deep dive yet, which I probably should. Can you give me a little tl;dr so I know what to keep an eye out for when I go looking through stuff again?
no subject
A tldr? [He pauses, trying to think how to phrase it. Jun's not the best at explaining things since he's not really a talkative person. But he supposes he should try....] Well...people are turning into monsters and Zodiac's board members were demons who tried to be immortal, but we stopped that. And the Black Order is here too.
_some_ DMFD true ending spoilers in here
"We will slumber once again, but the Dragonblood will not end here. Dragonblood who defeated Us, thou shalt become a new dragon. Until We are able to return with strength to rival the Celestial, We will leave everything to thee. However, do not forget, despite thine own desires, your blood yearns for battle; it will call upon thee, when thou taketh respite..." The words, spoken in a voice she's heard in other memories before, are followed by a memory of an excruciating pain, worse than anything she'd ever felt, enveloping her entire body. She doesn't remember if she had screamed, or if she had been able to scream at all, or if the pain had simply drowned everything else out.
It's when she recalls someone else's voice crying out, "Stay with me!" that the memory abruptly endsβleaving her past self's fate a bit unclear stillβand Kat realizes that she's just been kind of staring off.]
Whaβ Oh. Uh. Sorry about that, something came back just now. [It was the turning into monsters thing that triggered it.] It wasn't great.
So, people turning into monsters, Zodiac being even more fucked up than I thought, and now the Black Order's just...around? [She vaguely recalls death soccer having been a thing, despite not having been involved in that herself, so all three of those things are kind of concerning, rather than just the first two.] And that's all on top of Willow having been up to something too.
Jeez, does this city ever catch a break?
no subject
No, it's okay. I'm sorry if I triggered a memory.
[He knows he tries to avoid it for himself when he can]
Mm, that about sums it up. And...no, probably not. I get the sense we're nowhere near through with the strange events.
no subject
She's not entirely sure if she should consider that a good thing or a bad thing.
As for Jun's agreeing that the city isn't going to catch a break:] Wonderful.
I don't know how much help I'll be if we get like another dinosaur invasion or something since I lost what magic I had when I went back to normal, and it hasn't started coming back yet; pretty much all I've got so far is this dingus up hereβ [She reaches up and pokes at the dragon head. It tries to recoil slightly to avoid it, but has no luck considering it's stuck there.] βand he doesn't even do anything. [Yet. The thing does nothing but sit there and look stupid right now, but maybe that will change with time.]
As far as whatever else goes, I'll try to find something I can do. Or if you find something later that you think would work out, just give me a yell.
no subject
Haha...I've no doubt you'll find a way to help out. I'm sure you'll get some power eventually, and even if you don't and it just stays a living hat... there's plenty of other ways to help out.
Just don't count yourself out, okay?
