WHO: Sorey and all of you!
WHERE: Network
WHEN: 2/22
WHAT: It's an intro! Say hello to another POKEGO person!
WARNINGS: Probably language, but I'll update if something else comes up!
[There's a new face here on the app. He seems to be in a half-unpacked room at the moment. Despite looking like he just got out of an interview, he seems pretty cheerful.]
Hello, everyone! [That is definitely a British accent like you'd hear on BBC News.] I apologize for not introducing myself sooner. ...And for looking a bit more business-like than I should.
My name is Sorey Shepard, or you can call me Dr. Rosewood if you want a bit of distance. I work with POKEGO as a psychologist. More specifically, I research any psychological effects the Spirit Gates have on people, so that I can use that knowledge to inform any therapies I perform.
[He leans back a little from the camera.]
I understand that we, as an organization, have lost a lot of trust. I'm certain my colleague has already fielded many of your questions, but I'm also willing to share what I know and answer questions to the best of my ability.
[A pause for a beat.]
Oh, also, I have a question of my own for all of you. Is it normal to have the app download onto your device and then suddenly grow scales?

I apologise if I made you uncomfortable, but I wanted to reassure you that I'm not going to be your therapist without explicit consent.
text;
no offense but i'd rather chug broken glass
you can't tell me anything i don't already know anyway
no subject
That's not what I meant. I'm not going to analyze you. I'm not going to tell you what to do or anything like that.
It's simply my profession and I'm not your therapist unless you specifically want me to be, which you have emphatically told me no. I'm going to respect that. That doesn't mean that's all I am. I'm still a regular person.
Minus the scales and wind magic.
no subject
But good job, Sorey, because now he feels like a jackass. So he tries to cover it up with sarcasm:]
i hate to break it to you but no one here is a regular person
life is a circus and we're the clowns
how much wind magic are we talking? i have a little myself
no subject
Of course you're a regular person. But I said I wouldn't say anything that makes you think I'm a shrink, so I guess I can't really say anything positive without it sounding like I'm being your shrink.
You're a terrible clown and very unfunny.
Ummm a lot of lightning. I've noticed that the wind "catches" me when I fall, too. I wish I had that when I was a teenager, but I guess I'm happy to have it now.
no subject
what the hell
you take that back!!!
i'll have you know that i am EXTREMELY funny!!!!
[Aaaaaaaaand we're off to the races because ???????? Amal prides himself on his ability to entertain, apparently.]
the wind helps me go faster. i had no idea lightning was part of it though...
i'm almost kind of jealous. magic doesn't come easily to me
no subject
Are you a person, a clown, funny, or all three? I'm confused as to what I should call you, now.
[If you can't take the heat, stay out of the damn kitchen, Amal.]
Oh, no, it came to me completely out of nowhere.
I never used to be able to use magic until I started researching the Spirit Gates.
We could learn together, though, if you're interested?
I didn't have a partner to train my magic with, especially not wind element stuff.
no subject
all three obviously, do you even know math?
[NARRATOR: Amal never attended school as a student.]
a match with a pokego guy AND an excuse for gratuitous violence?
sounds like a plan
[THAT IS NOT WHAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO TAKE AWAY FROM THIS CONVERSATION AMAL]
no subject
But okay Funny Person Clown!
[....
Uhh....]
That's not what I had in mind, I'll be honest.
I mean, I fight to defend myself, but I don't actively look for them.
[Amal, he's a pacifist....]
I guess if you're really set on it, we could, but I'd like to get to know you first before I agree to any magical sparring practices.
no subject
oh.
well that's a disappointment. sparring is really fun and you can learn a lot!
[Still, that's not a no. A forever no.
So he has to grind reputation to beat up the POKEGO guy... This is getting complicated. On the other hand, it might be worth it. Amal knows the best way to get to know someone if you can't fight them is to just annoy the shit out of them until they reveal what makes them tick.
Oh, yes. He will figure you out, Psi Call A Gist.]
fine, we can play it your way.
i'm not signing up for therapy though.
no subject
I'll defend myself, sure, but I'd rather avoid the fight altogether if possible.
Oh, no, I wouldn't want you to do that!
I'm not going to strongarm you into therapy or anything like that.
I just want to make sure that the strange funny person clown isn't going to kill me.
[You can certainly try, Amal.]
no subject
that doesn't mean i can't let off some steam
you can't tell me you've never wanted to take a big stick and break something???
i don't recommend trying to strongarm me into anything anyway.
it'd be a shame if we had to send you back home in two pieces.
glad we understand each other!

I prefer reading, working out, or watching a feel-good movie instead.
That feels more productive and positive for me, personally.
You know, your threat to my personal welfare isn't lending any credit to your 'I'm an independent person and don't need no therapist' claim.
But the process doesn't work anyway if you're an unwilling participant.
no subject
i'm starting to think you're one of those extremely repressed types
the only thing you're missing is a holier-than-thou attitude
you know what happens when you repress every bad thing you're feeling?
you eventually snap because those feelings have nowhere to go
next thing you know you've got one black eye and the other guy has two
[THIS SOUNDS STRANGELY SPECIFIC]
really man... i was speaking in hypotheticals
if i was serious about it you'd know
[Would you, tho.]
all right let's back up for a second.
do you avoid fighting because you aren't confident in how to defend yourself???
maybe i should bring my shield and have you lob lightning bolts at me until you're more confident in your aim
no subject
Is it really so fulfilling to only be violent whenever you feel stressed, upset, or angry?
Because right now it sounds like you're projecting onto me.
[Like damn, man.]
No. I have a weapon and I've learned to channel my lightning magic into it.
I simply don't like causing harm to other people or creatures.
If I have to cause harm, I would rather it be done with minimal pain.
no subject
clearly we aren't going to see eye to eye on this so i guess i'll drop it
[He can't win every argument. He's not even sure he can win ONE with this dude...]
if it makes you feel better, i don't think you could hurt me
well
my pride might take a beating but that's it
no subject
I don't want to risk it.
Even if you're completely invulnerable to damage, I'd hate to raise my weapon against you. Or my magic for that matter.
Whether they're a stranger, a friend, or a loved one, I'm not going to raise my hand, weapon, or magic against them.
I'd much rather talk first.
This is a personal choice I've made a long time ago.
no subject
He's interesting.]
huh, you're really serious about this.
far be it from me to stomp all over that then.
[dear god he might actually be backing down on something for once]
i can't believe you made me feel bad enough that i'm actually going to crack open a book instead of hitting things til they make sense
no subject
Sometimes reading is more fun if you have someone to talk to about it!
[Maybe... maybe take it slow, Amal.... Still! Sorey's proud of your progress, you funky gremlin!]
no subject
[He's a slow reader admittedly; he'd much rather have someone read to him instead.]
