Forgive me, I don't use this sort of contraption much so I've been trying to learn about it slowly. After seeing a lot I was wondering if you young folk might not benefit from some first aid lessons. There seems to be a lot of call for them. Let me know if anyone is interested.

That was exactly my way of thinking. I'm not certain how many people have healing abilities of course and don't want to step on any toes! But surely the more people who can help in a pinch the better.

I wouldn't worry too much about that. While it would likely see more use for the less magically inclined, having the capacity to heal through magecraft hardly means one shouldn't learn practical methods just in case.

Have there been circumstances in which magecraft has ceased to work?

Nothing quite so wide-sweeping or general so far that I've been made aware of, but my own wasn't functioning correctly for a time after I arrived here.

But even possessed of working magecraft, one isn't infallible. Relying on it and overlooking simpler methods is a dangerous mindset to fall into.

And you're quite right. Powers are all well and good but they aren't infallible.

Mages in my world often focus on their ability to the detriment of simple common skills, so that is a pitfall I try to take into consideration. If we did completely lose access to our respective skills here, it could easily end in disaster.

I've been here several months now, since somewhere around August. I'm teaching at the university at present--hard to miss, I'm the one with the cane and ponytail.

Regardless, something on the more mundane side is just as useful. I could probably use a refresher course myself, it's been a while since I looked into learning basic first aid.

Might have, I mostly stick to the chemistry department. I'm an alchemist back home, among a couple other things. My healing magecraft isn't the best, so I like to be able to back it up with conventional methods when necessary.

When I was more hale I was a paramedic for many years! Now that I'm less able to do, I teach! So our departments don't intersect much. I'm the rather tall and thin blonde fellow!

I guess working at a school can be papers instead of emails so I get it. It's a super good way to learn things and hang out with people though!!

The school portal is the only thing I'm truly confident in learning! Although it seems to break quite often.
