not the kind of morning she expected
WHO: Nina and anyone else
WHERE: in her Labyrinth (A), and later wandering the city (B)
WHEN: February 18th mid-morning
WHAT: Nina arrives and goes from one kind of lost to another.
WARNINGS: what's a warning can i eat it
A.
When she awakens, it's immediately obvious that something is wrong. Obvious in multiple ways, in fact. For starters, it never snowed this much in Viridia, much less anywhere else on Doma Lin. In addition to that, she finds herself alone here, in an unfamiliar and uncomfortably cold place. Fortunately it isn't so cold that she's in immediate danger; it is painful, yes, but somehow—somehow—it doesn't feel like it's getting any worse than it already is, outside of the occasional stinging gust of wind almost threatening to blow some of that snow into her face.
With no visible landmarks and no sign of anyone else nearby, her only real option for how to deal with this new situation is to pick a direction and go with as much haste as she can muster, and hope that she'll find a way out of this cold before it really does start threatening to take her. She learns soon enough that she woke up in the middle of a veritable maze, with walls of evergreen trees—many of them pine, with some holly here and there—that look like they're almost too close together, making it dangerous to try to slip between them and forcing her to follow what paths she can find.
As she goes, she tries calling out. Early on in this whole endeavor, the names are specific—Luanne, Masino, Sara, people she knows—but they are ultimately unfamiliar to anyone who might possibly hear them. She later foregoes the names entirely and instead opts to call for anyone who can hear her here, wherever and whatever 'here' is.
She doesn't stop moving, knowing that if she does, she won't want to start again; in addition to being painful, the cold often makes her feel tired.
B.
Eventually, whether she manages on her own or she has help, she makes her way out. ...only to find, to no real surprise, that she does not recognize this place, either; just about everything within the city looks wholly unfamiliar to such a point that she's not even sure what several of the buildings are even for.
Carrying the device and booklet that she found only a short time ago, she wanders from place to place for awhile, trying to identify what little she can, not sure what else she can do for the moment. Most of the ordinary people that she passes by while doing this, strangely enough, don't seem to pay her much mind. Those who do acknowledge her presence make it seem clear enough that they see a perfectly normal teenage girl who just so happens to be wearing too much clothing at once; to them, her unusual hair color is the result of it being dyed.
