[CLOSED] PARK'S HAUNTED Y'ALL
WHO: Suzume & Hol Horse
WHERE: One of the local parks!
WHEN: Sep 17!
WHAT: Sometimes you have a past life and unfortunately the only one who won't spill on it is five
WARNINGS: Does Hol Horse being an idiot count
Rumor has it, for some, that one of the parks of Kaisou is a site of ~Paranormal Activity~. It's the kind of rumor that anyone with the Libra App ignores. It's just those little things that people who can sort of see the supernatural end up saying- the sort of little things that get completely passed over by anyone who can't see at all, that get blinked at and shrugged at by anyone used to it.
It's the sort of little thing that a Ghost Hunter/Ghost Hoax Hunter can't pass up during a dry spell- least of all when they're looking for a distraction.
So.
Saturday. Broad daylight, the park. It's a gloomy, cloudy day, the sort where most parents keep their kids at home so that they don't risk being rained on.
Suzume is not one of those kids, because frankly neither nanny nor babysitter nor Probably God is going to keep her from zooming on the potentially hazardous merry-go-round, or running up the slides, or zooming along the monkey bars, or-
...
It's a wind month.
As it is; Hol Horse comes to the park early, no doubt expecting to film nothing and no-one, save the occasional park goer getting their last swings in before a rainstorm.
What he gets is a kid being pushed by nothing on the swings, a kid being floated away from running up the slide (again), a kid clearly being held by............Something? Something that isn't there, to go across monkey bars...
...
Was that a flash of purple?

Was that a flash of purple?

Which is why he hadn't been expecting much at all this gloomy day, even if he's still armed with a camera and ready to go if something does happen.
What he doesn't expect is the rumor to be, well, true. He pauses as he squints at this child, keeping his distance and trying to make it seem like he's just there to enjoy the park and not at all keeping an eye on this... toddler of all things.
It does confirm that this isn't fake and he's about to bring out the camera until he notices that purple and slowly squints. Ghosts usually don't have colors like that in his experience.
Of course he's finally moving to stand and make his way over to Suzume, hands shoved into the pockets of his jeans, looking pretty normal despite his cowboy hat this time around. "What's the name of your friend there?" Blunt.
no subject
'That's a neat hat'. Her focus is largely on that, for that reason. Has she seen a hat like this? She thinks maybe. Maybe. It's hard to say!
The next thought is a much more exciting thought. "You see Hoshi..!?!"
And the answer is of course 'no', not actually, because momentary flashes do not equate to 'seeing'. But Hol Horse after all has said nothing about that. Just asked about a name.
She's very quickly bouncing around a seemingly empty zone of air, gesturing 'up' at...Something.
(More air really)
"He's Hoshi! He's big and purple and strong...!"
no subject
He's pretty sure that's... Japanese? He's not entirely certain, but he's pretty sure he's heard that name or something similar somewhere before. There's something about the purple and big and strong thing that causes him a moment of pause. That... does not sound like a normal ghost at all. Nor a demon, really, because he's certain a child of all things would be giving more details if it was a classic demon situation.
Weird.
"Hoshi, huh?" He's really annoyed at himself for trying to be good and not smoke around a child, but he'll survive. Hopefully. "Yeah, I can kinda see him. I'm guessing not many people can?" Might as well get some more information to see what he might be dealing with. Whatever it is doesn't seem particularly violent, which is a plus.
no subject
Might be getting a bit distracted-
"...but no one else sees Hoshi ever..."
Oh, or not! She's found the point. Good for Suzume.
no subject
He frowns for a moment as he toys with an idea in his head before moving a hand out of his pocket and motioning to it. "I'm wondering if maybe it's the same kind of thing I got..." Well, that sure is a gun in his hand all of a sudden, but very clearly his finger is nowhere near the trigger and is aimed at the ground just in case.
"Can you see that or is it just my hand?"
no subject
"Oh!" Suzume blinks. "...It looks like something Hoshi had once..."
Beaming, she throws her hands in the air. "It spat out something really fast, with a bang! And I caught it!!!"
Faintly, one might hear a very dry, very tired 'Ora-ora'; so faint it may well just have been the wind.
no subject
He didn't expect her to actually be able to see that. Well, that confirms something for him at least while he lets it disappear again and shoves his hand back into his pocket. "You caught a bullet?" What is this child? Surely she means this Hoshi... thing... did?
Unless he's dealing with a lot more than he's aware of.
no subject
Listen, there's a lot of things she knows now, but there's so, so many more things she does not know,
no subject
He doesn't know what he expected there, he should have expected this. He should have known. This kid's like two, right?
"... Forget I asked. So what's your name?"
no subject
Six,
"Um!" And she super knows exactly what you do in response to that question, so excuse her while she politely bows- "My name is...Suzume Kujo!" Yay!
Bow finished. "It's nice-to-meet-you..!"
Sounds a little stiff there, but that's fine, it's clearly practiced.
no subject
Why is this his life.
All for an episode that he knows he's going have to bullshit beyond belief to get this story to die.
"Suzume, huh." Give him a second to politely tilt his his hat forward like an absolute nerd. "You can just call be Hol, nice to meet you." No need to give a child his real name.
no subject
Behind her, 'Hoshi' is no doubt staring with the same dry frown he's had for pretty much this entire conversation. If even a single flash happens, that's what Hol's getting. Judgement. Imposing judgement. Judging-
"...Is it like...a hole in the ground? Do you make lots of holes, like in um...in sandboxes..?"
No wait, more importantly- "You have a nice hat Mister Hole..."
no subject
But Mister Hole sounds. Increasingly stupid. As do the questions. Oh man, maybe there is a better option.
"... You know what, just go with Horse instead. Hol ain't exactly the most friendly way of saying that." Oh, the hat, change the subject. "Well, thank you, it's one of many I own."
no subject
NO!
And before she will even Hear any protest, the girl just gasps. "There's more hats...?"
no subject
"No, that's not..." You know what. Why is he wasting his breath.
Hats, right. "Sure is, kiddo, got a different hat for each day of the week. Such is the life of a cowboy turned paranormal investigator."
no subject
The other thing is too long and tricky sounding, she's not even touching that.
no subject
"... Uh. Basically someone that works on a ranch, herds cattle, things like that. A little less glamorous than TV would have you think." Unfortunately.
no subject
OH!!
"Oh..! Mister WholeHorse, did you come from...from 'India'? There was a lot of 'cattle' there..!"
no subject
"... Exotic, but no. More like mundane ol' Texas here in the States, sorry to say."
no subject
So, really, India feels more mundane than Texas. "Um...is it near 'Florida'? Haha said that niisan and niisan's family live in Florida."
no subject
"So, this is Florida..." Just gonna point at that and show it to her before scrolling to the west and pointing to Texas. "And that's Texas. So not really?"
no subject
"Ohhhhh..." Well, that answers that. "Is....Japan far away too?"
