[The video appears, and there's a purple-haired young girl, looking curiously at it.]

Huh. It really is like Luz's phone.

[She sits back, clearing her throat. She isn't hiding her ears anymore, she knows now she doesn't have to. This isn't the human realm. It might even possibly be weirder than a place that has...ugh...giraffes. Not looking forward to meeting those weirdos if she gets out of here.]

Hi, I'm Amity. Amity Blight. I think some of you know my girlfriend Luz.

[That last part causes a slight redness. It's nice to say it out loud. Now that she can, now that she's even defied her mother's belief in a 'suitable' girlfriend - she's happy to say it as often as possible.]

I'm a witch-in-training, too, though we practice magic differently. I've got a lot to learn, or...or re-learn, I guess, now that I'm here. But it looks like it'll be a while, so I'd better settle in and get to know people.

Oh, and this is Ghost.

[She says that because a white cat has hopped up to inspect the camera, with a small mew.]

They're my Palisman. It's a long story. Think of it as sort of a cross between a familiar, a magic staff, and a wise companion-friend.

[Well that's a neat reversal - she's settling into more green settings, and has purple hair. And had once had green hair herself.]

I think we both are - though it's weird not to have, you know, peril dangling over us all the time.

[And Ghost perks up at their name.]

I'm so glad Ghost woke up...at first, they just stayed in their inert form on my staff. I was worried.

[She's not so sure about there not being a lot of peril here too, but... To be fair, up until the dinos it had seemed like most of it you had to go looking for.]

[She addresses the cat before speaking to Amity again.]

Oh, right. Luz said she had a Palisman too. Do a lot of people in your world have them?

[She considers that a moment, scratching Ghost between the ears.]

Honestly? Not for most of my life. Then I met Luz and there was...suddenly a lot of peril. But I think it was always there, she just...woke me up, kinda.

As for Palismans - a number do, but not as many as in the past. And the way things are right now...who knows what's happening.

[Having your world consumed by a chaos god'll do that.]

It seems like something similar happens to people of this world. Once they get the Libra app they're kind of woken up to everything that's going on.

That sounds like things were kind of up in the air when you left?

[Same with Five. At least, things had been blowing up at the time, and she got separated from her crew.]

[She pauses, thinking about Luz's absolute inability to not try to make an enemy into a friend.]

Mostly good things, yeah. She did mention how you two didn't really like each other at first, but you did once you were able to really get to know each other.

And it's clear from the way she talks how much she cares about you.

There are some hard truths I think you need - and deserve - to know. And I can't trust you not to do something stupid around Luz if you don't.

[She doesn't much like Hunter - but she can trust the person he becomes. This Hunter...she feels she has to help him. In large part to protect Luz - but to safeguard the future. It hadn't turned out the way any of them might have wanted - but it could have gone even worse. And she wouldn't be Amity if she didn't insist on taking responsibility.]

[ Oh, boy. Have a fellow fourteen-year-old smirking the widest, smitten-est grin at the camera, seemingly sitting at his desk with a backdrop of... crap. Just a lot of endless crap. But the knowing fondness crinkling the corners of his eyes is still a warm enough first impression despite, uh, all... that. ]

[ The questions just widen Alberto's grin. He'd succeed in sales in the future, if it didn't entail standing still so much... Even just over the course of this online conversation, the camera angles will shift quite a bit eventually as Alberto inevitably fidgets and changes his position or wanders his home or whatever else he might get up to idly in the background. This will not be a still conversation, which is somehow clear from the start. ]

[ Th-That's... not a language... Not technically. It's a pidgin totally made up by him and his — by some odd cosmic chance of befriending about a half dozen native Spanish-speakers here. The majority of his friend group here, really, and Luz is right tight in that inner circle. Luz has had to come to terms with Alberto's Spanish studies simply resulting in "Itañol," but expecting Amity to understand is, well— another matter. He hasn't heard that much about her, not enough to know that she really wouldn't know, being from the Boiling Isles... She may well have heard Luz speaking Spanish, but that's not entirely, uh— this. But he's endlessly fascinated by different cultures, regardless. Even Luca, who speaks exactly the same native language as Alberto does, no barrier whatsoever, also had to ask himself when they first met: The fuck is this kid saying? ]

[She just blinks a few times, then reaches over to her backpack to pull out the Spanish-language cookbook she'd been working to learn from, frowning as she flipped a few pages. Finally, she stops, with a groan and closes it.]
