[Oh hey look, it's Bruno making an appearance on the network. This can mean one of two things really: more doom warnings or another episode of his weird fucking rat telenovela. Turns out it's that last one. It's been a rough couple months and Bruno's doing what he does best- AVOIDANCE!]

Sooooo! We've got some impending doom coming our way, I don't need to get into that, you saw August's post, it's bad, stay indoors, yadda yadda. I'm here to lighten the mood with another thrilling episode of Ratas y noches apasionadas before everything goes to hell. When we last saw our intrepid rodents, Joaquin drove his car into the pool, taking Daniela with him, will they both survive?!! Let's tune in!



[He adds a helpful link for the people who want to catch up or have no idea what the fuck is going on. There are little touches from other Kaisou residents- a cheesy theme song, a little extra direction from a certain boy who can speak to animals- Bruno's always happy to let other people come play in his metaphorical sandpit. (But not his real one, that one sucks). As always, the rats are just...doing ratty things. You really need to use your imagination here. And so the show beings:]

There is pandemonium at the Rojas party- rats run everywhere, squeaking and panicking. Both Daniela and Joaquin are paddling in (admittedly a small) pool of water. Suddenly, two rats dive in to save them!! First is Miguel - the rattata making a beeline for Daniela, pulling her to the safety of the pool's edge. The second is a pretty grey rat (perhaps the one that Miguel had sneaked into the bushes to see?!!) she pulls Joaquin from the car, paddling her heart out as she pulls him to the other side of the pool. Lorenzo is torn for a moment- dithering - does he run to check on his best friend or the girl he loves?! Eventually, he runs to Joaquin- people can read from that what they will. The little grey rat is nudging Joaquin as he coughs up water.

"Take some deep breaths, you swallowed a lot of water, but I think you'll be okay. Lucky for you I was nearby, huh?"

"You saved me," Joaquin blinks up at his saviour, squeaking softly. "How could I ever repay you? I- what is your name?!"

"I'm Mia" the grey rat pats his head. "And you don't need to repay me anything, just glad to be able to help."

Joaquin seems to be struggling with the concept of someone doing something out of the goodness of their hearts without any attempt for personal gain. He's trying to get his little head around this when Lorenzo skitters near to him.

"Mi amigo!!! I was so worried about you! Are you okay? How did that even happen?! What were you doing in that car?!"

"BEING AN IDIOT LIKE HE ALWAYS IS!" that's the answer from across the pool as Sofia checks on Daniela, Miguel hovering nearby.

Joaquin pulls a face at her comments, before glancing at the pool, watching the car sink slowly to the depths.

"Papá is gonna kill me."

"Don't say that I saved you only for you to get killed for a trashed car," Mia giggles, giving Joaquin a gentle nudge. "That would be a total waste of my hard work, no?"

Joaquin stares at her again, dumbfounded, perhaps a little smitten. Before he can say much more, an older rat with a brown spot on her nose comes to gather him up. It's Rosa, the family's housekeeper.

"Come on, young master. Your father wants to see you in his office, he's...very upset."

Her tone suggests that's a grave understatement. Joaquin casts Lorenzo and Mia a sad look, before he follows her to his DOOM. His best friend out of the picture, Lorenzo turns to Daniela- but it's already too late. Miguel is patting her back as she catches her breath, holding her little paw gently.

"Are you okay, señorita?" the rattata asks. ""I dove in as soon as I could- I'm sorry my brother was so reckless. Are you hurt? Can I get you anything?"

"I'm okay thanks to your fast thinking, I owe you my life, señor" Daniela goes to stand and stumbles, letting out a soft squeak. "Oh- ow- I think I twisted my- oooh!"

Miguel pulls her into his little ratty arms, holding her close- if she could blush, Daniela would definitely be blushing right now.

"Please, call me Miguel, let's get you to the nurse to have that ankle looked at, okay? Better safe than sorry."

Daniela can only nod in wonder as he carries her off. Lorenzo joins his sister as she watches the other rat be carried away.

"What is he doing? What is SHE doing?" Lorenzo asks "He's not THAT impressive, surely!!!"

"Well, he DID dive in to save her," Sofia nudges her twin. "Maybe if you'd have done that, she'd be giving YOU the goo-goo eyes right now."

"But you know I can't swim..." Lorenzo replies, slightly whiny.

Meanwhile, Mia has skittered away from the party proper, heading back to her bush. There, hiding away, is a big, fat black rat. For those who took on the quest from Sergent Whiskers this month might recognise this as the rat who was stealing money by trying to be a baby. Now, he's dressed like a little mobster.

"That went pretty well," he says, as Mia comes to sit beside him. "You need to lay the charm on thicker- I want that boy head over heels for you. Your brother is already working much harder on this con than you are. This needs to work flawlessly! It took a lot of effort to make it seem like he was a true Rojas."

"I'm doing the best I can, Papá!" Mia sighs. "I've only just met him! And at least I'm not getting distracted by some...girl. I'm keeping my eye on the mark!"

"That girl will only legitimize the idea that Miguel is a hero! A much better candiate for inheriting the Rojas fortune than that fool Joaquin, he thought on his feet! It would do you good to do the same, " he rubs his little forepaws together. "Just think, with both of you in place, there is no way we cannot take over the Rojas fortune! My old business partner, Dario, will regret the day he cut me out! We'll be rich and this ridiculous family will be razed to the ground! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!"

[The screen turns back to Bruno, a look of faux surprise on his face.]

Oh no! It looks like the Rojas family are caught in a web of lies! And our poor heroine, Daniela is trapped in the middle of it with them! Will these con artists be rumbled? Has Lorenzo completely lost his chance with Daniela now? Tune in next time for the next thrilling episode of Ratas y noches apasionadas!

[Mia squeaks up at him and Bruno nods.]

Yeah, exactly, and you've totally earned extra- [he pauses, looking down at the rat, who squeaks again. Bruno stares a moment more- he definitely understood what that rat just told him and that is catergorically not his Gift] okay so I'm just gonna... turn off the video now so I can have this apparent mental breakdown in private. Adios!

[And with that the feed turns off, exciting!!]

I think I actually understood what Mia was saying to me but that's not my Gift, that's Antonio's thing so I'm pretty sure it's just one of those little mental breakdown things. It'll be fine. It's cool. I'm cool. Everything is cool.

Bruno, dude. I can understand and talk to birds. I couldn't do that before all of this bullshit started happening. It's not a mental breakdown, it's just more of the bullshit.

[Good job at remembering names, Bruno. He's definitely poles apart from how he was in the dream world.]

Pretty much? It's relaxing, y'know? Writing little rat stories.

Hey! I'm doing... better at that. I'm only invisible when I want to be now. Mostly.

[Danny frowns a little, because something sure seemed different about this guy.]

Huh, seriously? I always thought writing stories was way too much work to be relaxing.

Mental breakdown? What do you mean?

Ohhhhh well, I'm pretty sure I understood what Mia was saying to me just then? HEY HEY, see if you understand what she says we can see if it's ...actually me hearing her or if it's me quietly descending further into madness.

[Do your tío a solid, Antonio. There's some squeaking on Bruno's side from Mia probably along the lines of I'm really worried about him. ]

[Which was why Antonio raised an eyebrow or two as he leaned in closer. Realizing what the rat said, he couldn't help but chuckle]

But isn't that a good thing that you can understand her? She is saying that she's worried about you.

[Juli doesn't bother responding over the phone because her brother just said he's having a mental breakdown, so nope! Time to go check in on her baby brother. She asks Casita to show her where he is and follows the trail.

When she finds him, she moves to sit down beside him and pets his hair, removing some lint from it before going back to carding her fingers through it.]

So, mental breakdown?

[Bruno does at leat, lean into the touch, frowning in confusion at his rat as she squeaks up at him.]

Yup. [He pops the P as he says it.] So I think I can understand the rats now. Ergo. Mental breakdown.
