schoolingfish: (Dissapointed seamonster)

[The siren who accused Alberto of having confirmed he'd been captured seems particularly shaken by his revelations, and her accusatory expression becomes one of pity.]

You poor dear...

[She swims back to the others, gossiping loudly enough for Luca and Alberto to clearly hear what she's saying about them.]

They must have stolen him as a baby. He's never even known the safety of the sea and can't even understand the sort of danger he's putting himself in with those nasty humans.

[Well, if this is how they see humans, at least that answers the question of why they're doing this. Luca's used to these kinds of attitudes, though. While no one from his family's village were about to start killing humans like these sirens were, their attitude toward living on land was pretty much the same. But if his parents could be convinced to accept him living on land, then maybe there's hope for these Sirens to change their outlook as well.]

A few months.

[Luca isn't about to do the math in his head to figure out exactly how long, because he's too busy trying to figure out how to best convince these sirens that the humans aren't evil. Besides, it's accurate enough.]

But...I want to be up there because it's a whole new world to learn about and explore. There's all these flowers and new creatures and they have telescopes that let you see the stars all the way back to the beginning of the universe and they have schools and science that helps them learn about the world, and I want to know how everything works and why things are the way they are! And I can't do that if I only ever go to one part of the world.
