July Event Log

July Event
Dominant Element: Water
Waning Element: Fire
※
Summertime in the city continues! Throughout the month, the daytime hours will be scorching hot. Not only that, but due to the water element being in effect- everything will be miserably humid, making everything feel much worse. Make sure to dress for hot weather, or hide yourself away in an air conditioned building. The nights will be cooler and give some reprieve, but even then the humidity will be sticking around. About once a week, the city will experience a heavy thunderstorm. More on those in a bit!
Freedom & FireworksAs June ends and July begins, the Pride flags are put away for an absurd amount of red, white and blue ones. Like any American city this time of year, Kaisou has plenty to do for the national holiday. All over the city you will see the classic red, white and blue. Blue Fish Lake Park is having a summer block party to celebrate the holiday. You can go there to hear some live music or play some games like cornhole (where you stand at a distance and try to throw beanbags into the hole), three-legged races, or tug-of-war. There's also plenty of delicious grilled and barbequed food to be had, such as hamburgers, ribs, shish kabobs, potato salad, shaved ice, and of course the coveted mac and cheese.
If you're truly brave enough, there's a chili cooking competition you can enter. Just about every other entry comes from an ancient secret family recipe and they are insistent it is the best. At some point, the competition will get so heated a large fist fight will break out over whether beans should be in chili. The goose will attempt to knock over your pot of chili before it can be judged. There are tears shed. You suspect the grand prize winner bribed the judges. Regardless of your behavior, you manage to make several enemies.
Of course, no Fourth of July is complete without fireworks. And boy, are there fireworks. So. Many. Fireworks. The city will have its grand firework show over Blue Fish Lake, which is an impressive and professional display of pyrotechnics. But the fireworks don't end with just the professional show, as there's plenty of private residents playing with their own sets of explosives. While Kaisou has some laws on the books about many types of fireworks being banned, it's obvious that a lot of people completely ignore that law. Smaller fireworks and sparklers can be purchased in normal stores, while the bigger grade stuff can be found in more shady shops. Some vendors in Undertown will even sell enchanted fireworks that'll do more specialized imagery and movements than normal fireworks. Grab some fireworks to blow stuff up for freedom yourself, or find some earplugs - it's gonna be a loud weekend.
Stardew Valley and the Kanto regions can still be visited throughout the month, though there isn't anything new going on with them. Still, sometimes it's nice to retread some familiar ground.
Storm SeasonWith the spirit vein's summertime shift to the water element comes Kaisou's infamous storm season. About once a week, Kaisou will be hit by a heavy thunderstorm. Shortly before a storm arrives, storm sirens (warning: loud alarm sound) will sound off to warn citizens of potential danger. From there, characters will have a few precious minutes to seek shelter if they decide to do so.
True to their name, these storms will feature constant heavy lightning that can strike you if you aren't careful. Sudden heavy downpours will immediately soak anyone still outside and cause flooding in some areas and basements. Be careful not to drive into any standing water on the roads, as some flooding spots can get deep enough to submerge a car. While there's thankfully no tornadoes this year, there are strong straight line winds that can get up to 100mph, meaning they're strong enough to knock over trees, throw around lawn furniture, and damage the sides of buildings. And if all that wasn't enough, there's baseball-sized hail that'll easily take out a car window or cause some serious damage if it hits you.
These storms will only last a few hours, but they can cause plenty of damage. Power outages caused by down powerlines are common, causing blackouts in numerous neighborhoods from several hours to a full day before the lights come back on. The Zodiac building where otherworlders stay will also be susceptible to these blackouts, and anyone who decided to take the elevator during a storm will find themselves stuck in there for a half-day. Beyond that, there's plenty of volunteer and odd job opportunities focused around cleaning up fallen branches and other debris.
Commence the Beach EpisodeOn the morning of July 8th, Zodiac will send out an alert:
ALERT: SHIFTING GATE LOCATED ON KAISOU BEACH.
Element Classification: Water
Danger Level: Low on the mainland, high on the sea
Designation: El Nido
A new gate has been detected off Kaisou Beach. Initial scouting reports that the mainland is a peaceful beach resort, with plenty of amenities and less humidity. There are rumors of more dangerous elements should you take a boat and sail away from the mainland. Zodiac is unable to confirm what those dangers may be, so take precautions should you decide to do so. Zodiac is not liable for any injuries or deaths that may occur if you leave the mainland.
That said, Zodiac will provide compensation for any investigation reports or valuable items obtained in the realm.
If you swing by the Zodiac Headquarters, the mood of the office is rather relaxed. Some of the staff are talking amongst themselves visiting the realm to get a free vacation - it's not often you get a realm with few things trying to eat your face! If you ask about what happens if you leave the mainland of this realm, they will say that reports are full of untold dangers and bad luck. But what else can you expect from a high sea adventure? Professor Willow doesn't have much to offer, other than speculating if there's sea monsters in the water. Mostly he's occupied with data he's been gathering from the Kanto Realm. Seems pokemon are his first and always love. But as usual, you'll be able to rent out weapons and equipment from Zodiac.
The gate is a hard one to miss. While Kaisou Beach is packed this time of year with regular folks that are trying to cool off in the summer heat, off to the side there is a very noticeable rock formation that wasn't there before. The passage underneath the arch glows a tropical blue color and seems very inviting. Sure enough, that must be the gate. The normal people on the beach don't seem to notice its presence in the slightest, and it should be easy enough to slip past them to head into the realm.
El Nido: A Tropical ParadiseUpon entering the gate, you'll find yourself on a white sandy beach. While it's still warm, it's not the stifling humid heat that blankets the city. Instead, it's an ideal summer temperature, perfect beach weather. The skies and oceans are both an intense blue, the kinds of shades you see on postcards, with white fluffy clouds on the distance horizon of the ocean. Something about the entire scene already feels like a wondrous reprieve compared to previous realms.
As you walk along the beach, you'll come across a village resort. Rather than humans, the village is populated primarily by anthropomorphic birds of various types that are no bigger than waist size compared to a full grown adult. They welcome the visitors warmly, with happy chirps amid their words. They're used to humans visiting their place, so they have set up human sized lodging for people separate from their village to stay if they like. Payment wise they don't ask for much, mostly just things like birdseed, fruit, small rodents, interesting sticks, and other things birds enjoy. Overall they're a friendly and kind flock of birds, mostly interested in making sure your stay is a great one. However, if you do anything to mistreat the birds- you will quickly find yourself being swooped at and attacked by multiple birds.
The lodging is what you'd expect from an idyllic beach vacation. Despite this place being run by a bunch of small bird people, the human rooms are surprisingly modern, with proper indoor plumbing and electricity. There's a restaurant with all sorts of delicious tropical dishes and drinks (no bird meat though) and you can get room service for some extra birdseed. It's an extremely comfortable stay with varying room sizes, though due to the number of people visiting, some of you may end up getting roomed with another person. Or two.
As for activities, there's plenty you can do. You can go swimming in the ocean, even borrowing scuba gear so you can do some scuba diving and check out the gorgeous coral reefs around the island. You can go hiking and survey the breathtaking flora and fauna the land has to offer. You can stay close to the resort and treat yourself to a spa day by getting a relaxing bird-given massage or sitting in a hot tub. And don't forget fun beach games, like playing volleyball or making sandcastles. Or if you venture a little farther, you will find an amusement park situated on a pier over the ocean. You can ride the Ferris Wheel or the small roller coaster, eat carnival food (again, no bird meat), or play carnival games for fun prizes such as stuffed animals or t-shirts.
This is truly an idyllic, wondrous vacation. For once, you guys are getting nice things!
Yay a Pirate Adventure!Too bad some of you refuse to just have nice things huh.
While you're staying in the resort, you may hear rumors floating among some of the birds, especially if you ask what lies beyond their island. They will say there's rumors that there's amazing treasure out there, if anyone is brave and strong enough to seek it out. However, if you press more about it, you'll find out that no one's actually ever returned from sailing out into the sea, so it's impossible to know if the rumors are true or not. They do try to caution you that it is very dangerous to go out there. Also, to try to avoid the pirate ship that sits on their shore, because obviously a pirate ship must have dangerous pirates aboard.
There's only one way to find out, right? As luck will have it, if you wander past the amusement park, you'll find a seafaring vessel next to a dock. It's a large pirate ship, one that is surely large enough to sail out on the ocean. It's the ship that the locals told you to stay away from, but surely it wouldn't hurt to have a look right? Characters who are 15 years or younger will find themselves unable to board unless they're accompanied by another older character - which also might be a telling sign. If you go on the pirate ship, the ship is somehow fully stocked and ready to go on an adventure, despite no clear sign of any crew. In the captain's quarters, there's a treasure map with a route that'll take them to some marked treasure as well as a small chest full of golden coins and gems. Below deck, they will find that there is plenty of food and drink to be had, as well as an entire wardrobe full of classic pirate clothes.
But be warned, trying to take anything from the ship will seal their fate. As they do so, they'll feel a burning sensation somewhere on their body as a skull-and-crossbones tattoo appears. They will also now be magically unable to leave the ship. After about 12 hours from the first person to try to take something, the ship will begin to set sail out into the ocean that so many people tried to warn you about. Looks like you signed up for a pirate adventure, whether you wanted to or not.
Oh No a Pirate AdventureThe pirate ship voyage will last about a week. Characters with the pirate mark will be forced to see it through to the end, even if they attempt to teleport out of there. The ship is enchanted to run itself, but there's books and guides in the Captain's quarters to teach how to run a ship in case you don't trust the ships autopilot. It might be wise to read up on that. Characters can still connect to the Libra network, but any other internet access will be cut off. Also you should take care not to waste your battery - as there's no electricity on the boat.
The trip will play out as followed:
Day 1: Smooth sailing! Characters will have time to adjust to their new sea life.
Day 2: The characters will make landfall on their first island. It's a barren dessert island, full of caves and quicksand. Near the shore, they will hear the call of sirens (img cw: nipples). These siren songs will be alluring to anyone who are attracted to women, making them fall into a trance. If you get too close to the sirens, they will attempt to drown and eat them.
Day 3: More sailing! The sailing is going through some choppy waters, with fog causing the visibility to get worse and worse. Halfway through the day a ghost ship tries to attack yours with cannon balls. Work together and fight them off before they sink you to the bottom of the ocean.
Day 4: You arrive at an island covered in bones. As in there are bones everywhere. Of course, there are many living skeletons here who will come out of the bone piles and try to murder you.
Day 5: It's smooth sailing until late into the day, when a kraken appears and tries to take down the ship. You can try to fight it off to buy time for other crew to make it to the lifeboats, but the sheer size and strength of the beast will eventually prevail- snapping the ship in half and dragging it down into the ocean. Try your best to survive by grabbing a lifeboat or using some ship debris to float.
Day 6: By morning, the now-shipless crew will wash up onto the shores of a new island. Unlike the last two islands, this is a tropical island that's full of life. It's the island that the treasure marked to have the treasure. Spend your day trying to gather what you lost and recovering. Traveling around the island is impossible to do all in one day. They will get halfway around before they need to camp for the night. You'll also have to be mindful of food and water, as all of that was lost with the ship.
Day 7: On the final day, they will finally make it to the other side of island and the spot of the treasure. Luckily there's some shovels nearby. Do some digging and they will unearth a treasure chest. Inside, there's various types of fine jewelry that is enchanted to give the wearer underwater breathing, and plenty of gold that when split among the crew - will give them each about $500 worth. There is also another ship on the shore here, one that looks just like the one you lost. This ship will sail once everyone is aboard, and take them back to the mainland by morning.
Those who were on the pirate adventure will find themselves returning safely to the resort. The bird people will be thrilled of their return and excited to hear of their stories. The tattoos appeared may begin to fade once the adventure is over, freeing them from the curse. Or if you rather, they can keep the tattoo on them for the memory.
The resort itself will be open for any and all visitors until the end of the month. Zodiac as well will be happy to pay you in compensation for any items you bring them. All ends that ends well, it seems.
The dominant element this month is Water! Anyone with an affinity to the water element will find themselves boosted throughout the month. This could mean a boost to their power, having more energy, feeling more inspired with creativity, having better luck on different attempts -- the boost can manifest in all sorts of different ways. By contrast, anyone with an affinity for Fire will be experiencing the opposite. Perhaps their powers will be weaker, they have less energy, they're having a creative block or general worse luck - again it can manifest in all sorts of way and players are free to play with this mechanic as they'd like.
This event is meant to be a low-key fun event! Have your character go on a very dangerous pirate adventure, or just relax in the resort! Anyone who goes on the pirate adventure will get a piece of jewelry that lets them breath underwater, and $500. Totally worth that level of danger right? Totally....

Mae Borowski | Night in the Woods | ota
[While everyone enters the Gate the normal way, Mae's entrance is... a little different. Seems like she was playing around on her new pole that appeared in her apartment, because said pole descends and lands into the white sand as screaming is heard from above as Mae ungracefully slides down the pole.]
Oh god oh god I'm descending into Hell I knew this was going to happen one day-!!!!
[And then Mae lands. And looks around in confusion.]
Wow Hell is pretty!!
... Wait a second.
[Eventually Mae figures out it's a Spirit Realm, not Hell. And well...
... Mae returns in more appropriate clothing for a beach adventure. And an axe. Because who wouldn't wanna bring an axe to a beach?]
All right let's do some relaxing and shit!!
[Pirate Adventure]
[Mae was one of the few who got accidentally recruited to go on a pirate adventure, which was kind of cool! For the most part she doesn't do much, but just watches the ship sail through the water.
When they land on the siren island, she hears singing. And her mind goes blank, and she starts to wander in the direction of the singing...]

Demyx | Kingdom Hearts | ota
[Demyx is enjoying the festivities. You can find him digging into the food and getting into the games.]
Hey, wanna be my partner for the three-legged race?
An Actual Vacation?
[It takes Demyx a few minutes to recover from an incident with a falling stripper pole earlier. But once he does he's pretty pumped!
After last month's confusion wherein Demyx thought he had won a free vacation, he's more than a little surprised to see that... this actually does look like a vacation??]
Whaaaat? A legit trip to the beach with like... a resort and everything?? Sweet!
Enjoying The Water:
[Demyx feels energetic lately. Bonus of having an affinity to water this month. And he's just recently found out he can control small amounts of water. So he's making use of that when inevitably someone starts a splash fight. Tongue poking out the side of his mouth as he focuses to toss a small orb of water at the nearest person involved in the splashing.]
Take this!!

Catalina | Tangled | ota
[When Catalina walks through the Gate, she wasn't really sure what to expect. She grumbles a bit over not being able to go whether she wants, but that grumbling is cut short when she actually sees the beach.
Catalina stares in awe for a bit, because it is absolutely beautiful.
Anyone can find her making a sandcastle, or dipping her toes into the water. She looks like she's having fun.]
[Amusement Park]
[And of course, she'll be trying out the ferris wheel and roller coaster. She's currently looking over the carnival games when she notices someone standing next to her.]
Want to try one?

Luz Noceda | The Owl House OTA
Luz had thoroughly enjoyed herself during the whole July escapades despite not being completely on board with vague concepts of freedom and patriotism and all of that. BBQ's, however, held sway, and she couldn't help using a little bit of her working light magic to make the fireworks just a little bit more fun!
But that was then, and now? Now it was storming up like crazy, and Luz had a duty to make sure that Eda's place of business didn't fall! So whenever she can use magic to stop the flooding, she's freezing water in place, and using some of her plant magic to conjure up the most succulent of plants to make the place pretty and soak up all the excess water! In addition, she's also trying drain water where she can and making sure to keep things as dry as possible.
"Eda! I'm going to try and keep things stable here! Need help on the roof?"
Want to come by and watch the hilarity ensue? Trying to buy something for some unearthly reason? Come on by!
Vacation Time
So that flooding was a lot. So much so that Eda
orderedLuz out of the Owlery while she attends to the water damage. Luz initially didn't WANT to go, but it was honestly too good of a chance to miss, and truthfully? Baby girl could use a vacation.Luz honestly was not expecting so much to do though! She spends this time snorkeling, cooing over the cute birds and asking them a million questions and leaving them lots pf bird seed! Also, she is taking lots of pictures and visiting the amusement park every chance she gets! Are you the lucky person rooming with her at this time? If so, well, Luz will do her best not to talk your ear off, but don't be surprised if that happens anyway!
Argh! A Pirate's Life for Me! (Implied Danny/Hunter so Luz is allowed)
But Luz was not a girl who came to a place like this for boring vacations! After all, Luz's mission to get home is mingled with her propensity to get into shenanigans, and the opportunity to don her pirate gear again and sail the high seas is far too much to pass up! So she saddles up and (with Danny/Hunter's accompaniment) is ready for some sea faring ADVENTURE!
Day 2: Caves and Sirens
Luz did not expect to see such a foreboding cave on her second day.
https://i.ibb.co/nR3Trfv/cave.jpg
It was certainly something to take in, and she was pretty awed, but giving you a look that clearly said this was the coolest thing ever! And it is!
And then you start hearing the song and notice that Luz's eyes are starting to looking REALLY clouded.
"They're...really pretty, aren't they? And they sound awesome..."
Please save our entranced hero!
Day 4: Gonna end up a big ol' pile of them bones!
Looks like the scary sirens were not the only thing to be worried about. Now they wound up sailing into a bones isle, and that was not the only thing to contend with: it looks like all manner of bone warriors were coming out to fight them. Luz had her cutlass ready, attaching glyphs to them and turning to you with a big grin.
"Hope you're ready for this! I know I am!"
The whole sirens thing was a bit embarrassing really, so Luz was looking to make up for that with some cool fighting!
Day 5: Aye, it's the Kraken!!
Ooh, looks like they were coming upon the big boss now. All hands-on deck for this one, and for once Luz is not staring off in awe and wonder. Now she just wanted to make sure that you both wound up surviving this whole ordeal. The Kraken was battering the ship badly, and they were likely going to have a time trying to stay alive!
"You up for giving it a distraction?!"
Day 4
"No?!!!! I'm in no way ready for this and why do you have a cutlass you're like, twelve?!!"
Why are there kids on this adventure?!! Weren't they supposed to be kept safe?!

Rose | FFXIV | OTA
[Cats don't like water. Rose is not a cat. She is, however, close enough that the dislike of water still applies.]
[She tries her best to avoid the rain where she can, but on an unfortunate day, the downpour comes out of nowhere. Rose immediately runs into the nearest cafe, except the damage is already done. When she walks in, she's soaked. Despite trying to stay as close as she can to the door, there's a small puddle forming under her feet, as she tries to ring out what water she can from her hair and clothes.]
Seven hells...
[It's slow-going. Give a girl a hand?]
[Beach Day]
[Before getting spirited away to Kaisou, Rose's plan was to take an extended vacation. Getting brought here may have delayed that, but it hasn't stopped her entirely. The moment she hears about the new gate, she's already gone.]
[Those around the resort may find her relaxing on the beach and trying for a suntan. Or, they may find her in the hiking paths, with a notebook in her lap, drawing pictures of the local flowers. Late in the evening, she can be found in the bar area, a drink in her hand.]
[A Pirate's Life For Me!]
[Boarding]
[But what vacation is complete without adventure? When Rose hears the rumors, she quickly finds herself making her way to the pirate ship. 'It's just for a little bit,' she tells herself. 'I won't be there for long,' she tells herself. Of course, it's a lie, and she's scarcely on the ship for half a bell before it leaves port. She rushes up to the deck, only to see the port disappearing from view.]
Hey, can anyone turn this thing around?
[Day 3]
[Of course, they can't, and Rose is stuck on the ship. To her credit it's...mostly fine for the first few days of sailing, but by day three, seasickness has taken over. She spends what time she can on the deck, but she doesn't look to be in good shape. Chances are, she's curled up in a ball, or bent over the railing.]
[At least, until the ghost ship shows up. When it appears, in her stupor, all she can manage is to sink back to the floor of the deck.]
Not again.
[Day 4]
[After yesterday, Rose is happy to take any chance that she can to go ashore. Unfortunately, it's the bone island. It's covered with bones. The living skeletons she can handle, she does know how to fight, even if she doesn't act like it. But everything else? It sends a shiver down her spine.]
[If you're one of the unlucky people who are on this venture with her, she'll turn to you and say:]
Ghastly, isn't it? I wonder what happened here.
[Day 5]
[By day five, she's mostly found her sea legs, which is good! Because she'll need them.]
[The Kraken shouldn't be a surprise, every voyage she's gone on has involved some sort of disaster, but somehow she's still shocked as she rushes downstairs for her weapon. When she comes up, she's happy to take on the monster---there's not a lot she can do, but fighting monsters is one thing she knows.]
[Using her scythe, she chops at the tentacles, and tries to usher everyone into the lifeboats. Things seem to be going well--until they're not, and the ship snaps in half. She's become so accustomed to breathing underwater that she doesn't worry, until she remembers the powers of hers that have disappeared. She finds her way to a drifting piece of plywood, coughing up water. If nothing else, she's alive, at least.]
This has to be the worst vacation I've ever been on.
[Wildcard]
[You know the drill! DM me to plot.]

Hoping to distract himself, he sees someone nearby.]

Elliot Craig | Trails of Cold Steel | OTA
[Summertime meant Elliot had more time for performances! Even if the weather feels like a swamp, it's not about to stop him from doing some street musician work. He's in Blue Fish Lake Park, playing away with incredible talent.
That is, until the storm sirens come off. The crowds disperse and Elliot moves to pack away his violin. Good news, he got it safely in the case. Bad news, that's about all he manages before the downpour kicks in. ]
Oh no!
[Elliot grabs his violin case, clinging to his body to try to shield it as he tries to run for the nearest shelter as he gets soaked. All the while he can be heard yelling "crap crap crap crap!!" the entire way]
II. Beach Adventure
[Elliot's never actually been on a beach vacation like this before, and with his salary he wasn't about to afford one anytime soon either. So of course he's excited for this opportunity! He's in great spirits when they first arrive. He drops off his bags (and violin) into his hotel room before stepping out onto the beach with shorts and a t-shirt on.]
Aha, it's so beautiful here! Just looking at this scenery takes the stress out...
[Now now, what to do for the day? Knowing Elliot, he'll want to spend the first day exploring before picking out the best place to play music all week and-]
III. Pirate Adventure
[Unfortunately for Elliot, this dream beach vacation lasted about maybe a day before reality ensued. While he was completely willing to stay clear of the dangerous pirate ship, some of the people he knew were not. And when it became clear that they were stuck on the ship, well, Elliot internalized his screaming as he packed up what gear he needed and went out to accompany them. At least if he goes along this time, he can use healing magic to make sure no one ends up dead this time.
Throughout the trip, Elliot can be found doing some of the following:
IV. Wildcard
[Got another prompt for me? Hit me up! Elliot can heal and use offensive magic, so he'd be pretty useful throughout the pirate trip should your character need help]
Storm Season
Of course, that didn't stop him from nearly falling face first into the ground from how wet the ground was. How wonderful!]

Mirabel Madrigal | Encanto | ota
[Mirabel's had a weird few days. So once the opportunity comes up to hang out at a beach comes up, she's there. She's lounging on the beach for a while, trying to get into this "relaxing" thing, but she keeps fidgeting...]
Ugh, how do people just... lay out here all day? There's a whole ocean out there!
[She turns to whoever's nearest to her.]
Let's go swimming!

Katsuki Bakugou | My Hero Academia
[The insane weather is driving Katsuki a little bit crazy. Just trying to get from place to place sometimes is a headache with these sudden storms. Each time he hears that siren it sends him bolting to the nearest place to take shelter, often cursing up a storm the whole way. And sometimes he doesn't make it in time, ending up drenched and sour about it. Maybe you'll find yourself taking shelter alongside him somewhere at some point?]
Damn this crazy weather! Is it really going to be like this all month??
El Nido--OTA:
[Despite being wary after August's last post brought up drowning, Katsuki turns up to this month's realm. He has his reasons. But with that said, he has no intentions of going near the water. No pirate adventures for him, thanks. He's staying on dry land. Instead...]
A) On The Beach:
[You're bound to find Katsuki doing a lot of chilling this month. He's a lot more tired than usual. With his element being weakened this month. So you might find him sprawled out in a beach chair, under an umbrella, resting. Maybe even taking naps. If you wake him up he's gonna be moody about it.]
B) Sand Castles:
[Someone should absolutely challenge him to a sand castle building context. Just saying. Or you know... just invite him to build with you. He's going to turn it into a competition though.]
C) Restaurant:
[Around meal times you can find Katsuki hanging out at the restaurant. Feel free to join him for lunch or something.]

Or at least, he wanted to have fun if it weren't for the fact that he keeps messing up said sandcastle. No matter what he did, the bucket shaped castle would always leave some crumbs behind.

Lita Elnaeus | Etrian Odyssey IV (OC) | OTA
[During one of the larger storms of the month, out of a need to kill some time and having few options for doing so at the moment, Lita goes to make a video post on Libra.
Thanks to the power being out, her dorm room is dark, and the only thing that can really be seen on camera is Lita's own face, dimly lit by her phone's screen, and judging by the background noise, the storm isn't anywhere close to letting up yet.]
So I guess I ain't getting a whole lot o' stuff done tonight, huh? How's everyone else holdin' up in this mess?
2: Walking at the Beach (El Nido/action)
[Lita had extended invitations to some of the people that she's met after she'd first stumbled into all of Kaisou's everything, suggesting that they join her at El Nido for awhile.
After getting there, whether any of those people are with her or not, for a good while Lita is a bit wary of things, with August's monthly vision report still fairly fresh in her mind. After seeing other people in and out of the water with no real incident beyond some of the usual beach things, though, she starts thinking that things will be fine—for now, at the very least.
So now she's walking along the beach, very definitely dressed for the whole occasion, but just staying right along the edge of the water, close enough that the waves keep washing over her feet. That also means she's close enough that she's practically asking for someone to give her one really good shove, if they really, really wanted to.]

Moxxie/Maxwell Lansky | Helluva Boss | OTA
Moxxie fully intends to heed the advice given to them and avoid the water. What he does not intend to do is avoid the fun, even for the festivities at Blue Fish Lake Park. Sure, everyone seems to see him as a opossum, and sure, that means he has to avoid being seen by humans, but he’s going to make this work. He’d been lurking in the area so he could watch the fireworks, desperate to hold onto some semblance of normal when it came to the holiday when he heard people arguing and fighting. As he moved closer, Moxxie sees the chaos and decides to take full advantage, slipping in and gathering armfuls of food before slipping away.
By the time the fireworks display is going, Moxxie’s found a comfortable spot away from the crowds and has laid out a blanket covered in his stolen good and is snacking while watching the fireworks above. In a way, he thinks, this is nicer than if he was by the lake with everyone else. No crowds, no arguments, just a peaceful spot, tons of food and a show.
[El Nido: A Tropical Paradise]
While Moxxie had enjoyed the fireworks, nothing compares to how much he’s loving the beach. It’s hot, sunny, everyone here recognizes him as a person, and the locals are about his size, so they were easily able to get him a hotel room and accommodations all in just the right size to suit his needs. Everything is perfect and Moxxie is living it up, wearing his newly made swim trunks and carrying a small cooler, a towel, a big bag of bird seed and an…ice axe. After all, if he has a magic axe that can freeze anything, he might as well use it to refreeze the ice in his cooler if it melts, then use the axe to break up the ice so he can get his drinks back out.
Thoughout the day he can be found enjoying himself on the beach. He might be laying back on a towel, drinking a beverage with his cooler on one side and his axe on the other, or hiking and taking in all the beautiful flora and fauna, or he could be found having a spa day and enjoying a nice massage or a soak in the hot tub.
Of course, eventually he’s bound to decide to get something to eat, and while he’s getting food he realizes he’d like some lemonade, too. Sure, he brought his own drinks, but right now he’s not in the mood for that. And so he orders.
“…and I’d like exactly five ice cubes. If you add more than that you barely get any lemonade, but if you add less than that it won’t be cold enough. Oh! And make sure there’s a slice of lemon on the side, it really helps the ambiance, and studies have found that how something looks sometimes matters more than how it tastes when it comes to enjoying food. But I want it to be a slice, sometimes people quarter lemons and call that a slice, but that’s not really accurate.”
…at least he’s tipping?
Tropical Paraside!
So he pays more attention to what the guy is ordering. And realizes, with a cold fear]

Roxas | Kingdom Hearts - OTA + 1 Closed
[As things go, a graphic arts student must find inspiration where they can. So Roxas is sitting on the edge of a roof, visible to anyone who looks up, with a strange set of clothes: a cat cloak, winged boots, and for some reason... a cowboy hat. It's quite a sight to see as the fireworks blast overhead and Roxas has a camera in hand, pressed close to his face as he adjusts the settings to get a perfect picture of each blossom of color.
He could do without the noise the fireworks make, but for art, sometimes one must suffer a little.]
Attempt at Beach Vacation - OTA
[The beach is great and all, but it's hot, and Roxas is mostly sticking to the shade for the moment. Since he doesn't want to burn he's wearing a t-shirt for the moment as he watches everyone go about their business.
There's a small bag hanging off of his shoulder with things needed for the beach as one should never come into these gates unprepared. Even if there's only things like sunscreen and aloe in there, and the requisite change or two of clothes. From how he's just standing there, he may be waiting for someone. Or he may just be staring at the birds as they try and be sociable to the visitors...]
Beach Date - CLOSED
[As the person who Roxas was waiting for finally arrives, he's sure to lead Sora to the resort. A room is acquired and he's rather jittery about the prospect of spending time in such a nice place with Sora. He has his hand on the doorknob with the key jingling in his other hand. What waits behind the door will be most likely a single bed that is big enough for two and a potential heart attack for the blond.
He glances back at Sora with a somewhat nervous expression.]

July 1st - Kanto Region
When Your Highly Improbable Luck Catches A Pokemon For You
They were told to stay away from the State Park because of the potential dangers, so Yoosung decides to take a visit to Blue Fish Park instead, thinking about maybe hitting up the zoo.
He has a flash of a memory when he nears the lake and sees people fishing, an image of a redheaded guy catching a fish. It's a very normal thing so he's almost positive he just imagined it (as opposed to remembering it), even if he's never seen the guy before in his life. Hmm.
He moves on.
During his leisurely walk in the gradually warming weather, he suddenly finds himself in the Kanto Region. He'd walked through the gate while daydreaming and hadn't even realized it. This is his first time within the Spirit Realm, and while at first it doesn't look terribly different, he quickly changes his opinion on this when a Meowth comes up to him and begins placing coins at his feet. Or at least it starts with coins. And then it brings a PokeBall. Suddenly everything feels very surreal and he's thinking he should probably leave.
Except he trips over the PokeBall as he turns to go, and it rolls, and bumps into the Meowth who had been giving him unsolicited gifts. And suddenly in a flash of light, the Meowth is gone, and the PokeBall is rocking back and forth... Once, twice, three times... Before it stills.
Yoosung picks up the ball and examines it. "What... What just happened?"
He's so confused.

Luca Paguro | Luca | OTA (With some closed prompts)
Luca has been making sure to take an umbrella with him everywhere he goes since storms had been popping up, but even that isn't enough to protect him from the torrential downpour. Whenever he hears the siren, Luca races to the nearest cover, but it's not unusual for the rain to start before he can manage to get under an awning or into a store. He does his best to keep the rain off him using his umbrella, but with the force of the winds he's had several retreats that left him standing in the doorway of a store, frantically trying to wipe off any water and desperately hoping his scales would fade.
The second he sees anyone, Luca desperately tries to hide his arm or leg or any part of himself that's still scaley and fishy, all while desperately trying to act like nothing is wrong and divert attention from it. After all, Alberto had worked so hard to keep their secret and had made it very clear that letting everyone know was not a good idea. Luca doesn't want to throw all that away.
El Nido: A tropical Paradise - OTA
The second Luca hears from Zodiac about possible sea monsters in the water, Luca knows he must go. If there are sea monsters here (other than him and Alberto), then he wants to meet them but, more importantly, he wants to make sure they’re not hunted.
When he goes out to the beach, he doesn’t bother to change into proper swimming attire. Not only does he not have any proper swimming attire aside from the seaweed shorts he left at home, but he can’t wear swimming attire. Not now that he knows humans have some kind of weird ‘button’ in their belly that he doesn’t have. So he’s wearing a polo shirt, shorts and, as usual, no shoes as he goes to the beach and starts looking around. As he goes, he shows no interest in volleyball or any of the other recreational activities going on, instead he just keeps walking, focusing on the water while refusing to go near it.
As he works his way down the beach, whenever he finds a spot that doesn’t seem to have anyone around, he makes his way down to the water…but every time, he continues to look around nervously as he nears it, afraid of getting caught, and every time he takes so long that someone walks into sight before he manages to get in, so he ends up frantically scurrying back from the water before laughing nervously.
Eventually, after passing all the refreshment stands and hotel rooms and the amusement park, Luca comes across a dock with a large, foreboding ship tied there. Thinking that might be an excellent place to start, and that he can, at the very least, eavesdrop and see if they intend to hunt sea monsters, Luca walks up to it and tries to sneak onboard…only to hit an invisible wall.
“Oh, come on!”
This is that kid thing, isn’t it? It’s so unfair! There aren’t any adult sea monsters here, who’s he supposed to ask?
Pirate Adventure! – OTA (He’s got several threads planned including one with an adult, so if your character’s a kid feel free to assume at least one adult is present
On the first day Luca’s pretty relaxed, and he honestly doesn’t understand why this pirate adventure was age restricted. He can be found looking around the ship and exploring, dodging any water that gets splashed around and generally being curious. Eventually he ends up holing up in the captain’s quarters with an apple, snacking while reading the books.
On the second day, the ship ends up encountering sirens and Luca’s not sure how to feel about it. He’s not terribly surprised when their song has no effect on him, though naturally he assumes it’s because he’s a fish person. He’s wrong, but it doesn’t matter, since no matter the reason when he sees his crewmates trying to go overboard he’ll desperately try to stop them, fully intending to evade any questions as to why he’s not affected. He feels a bit conflicted, though. He and Alberto had been talking about wanting to find the sea folk of this world and now they finally had, and he desperately wants to meet them but…well, the fact that they’re trying to kill his human friends makes that kind of awkward. Still, he remembers how his mother firmly believed humans were only there to do murder, so he figures they just don’t understand that this humans aren’t there to kill them. It’s not long before he decides he needs to talk to them no matter what.
On the third day when the ship is attacked by the ghost ship, Luca doesn’t even try to be helpful. He’s not even sure of anything he could do that would be helpful. He doesn’t know anything about ghosts or how to survive them and he doesn’t have any special powers that would be useful here. Terrified, he runs to the lower deck and cowers in a corner, waiting for the booms and cracks of cannonballs against wood to stop.
On the fourth day he doesn’t do much better, and when the skeletons rise Luca runs and hides behind the nearest adult.
Throughout all of this, barring incidents that fill him with sheer terror, he’s feeling pretty good about things. Sure, there might have been things that were way too much for him to deal with, but he still feels like he did a pretty good job of sneaking around and keeping his sea monster nature under wraps. And then, on the fifth day, the kraken happened. At first Luca tries to keep a pretense of being human, rushing to one of the lifeboats and trying to dodge water as the Kraken’s tentacles splash around and attack the ship, but the lifeboat he’s in is only half lowered before a tentacle throws a giant wave of water onto everyone in the lifeboat, completely soaking Luca. He stares at the humans around him with sheer terror in his eyes before turning and diving into the water.
Ultimately, despite being afraid of how his crewmates might react to what he is, he does swim along in the same direction as them, watching in case any of them need help. Once everyone gets to the island, though, he shies away from any human members of the crew that didn’t already know what he was, wary and nervous about how they’ll react now that they know what he is.
Sirens – For Alberto
Luca is determined to meet the sea folk from this dimension. Sure, they’d been singing and trying to lure their human crewmates into the water, but Luca remembers how tense things were between sea folk and humans in his own world and he’s certain they’re only doing that because they think the humans are only here for murder. Maybe if they reason with them, these sea folk will see that the people on this ship are nothing to fear and will let them go. Besides, while the sea folk in this universe are clearly different than the ones back home, this is still the first time Luca’s seen people like them since they got here, and he wants to learn more about sea folk in this universe.
When Luca brought the idea up to Alberto, he seemed to be on board with the idea as well. Luca had read the books in the captain’s quarters, so he feels like he has a pretty good idea where they can find smaller boats on the ship that are meant to get them to shore if the big boat sinks, and he’s pretty sure he understands how to lower them into the water. So, during dinner, Luca signals to Alberto that they should slip away.
“Come on, this way,” he whispers while leading the way to the lifeboats.
Dinner with Luz – For Alberto and Luz (Takes place before the pirate adventure)
Luca’s excited to have Luz over and can’t wait to show off Alberto’s cooking. Sure, the recipes might seem simple by human standards, but Luca doesn’t have much of a concept of human standards. Besides, considering Alberto didn’t even know how to eat pasta that long ago, the fact that he knows how to cook it now is amazing.
Besides, it’ll just be fun hanging out with a new friend. Eager to help get things ready, Luca replaces any broken jars and sweeps up any broken glass, and generally looks around for anything out of place to fix up before she arrives just to have it looking nice, completely oblivious to how much the apartment looks like it's being lived in by aliens with little concept of human culture. Whether it’s the toaster that’s being used as a utensil holder or the coffee table made from an old wooden cheese box, a giant metal bowl filled with seashells and topped with a piece of glass, the small, overly cluttered apartment just generally gives a sense of being just a bit off from what most people would expect of a human

July 4th - Fireworks
Fireworks: Kaboom Boom, Baby
If Five had ever celebrated Independence Day before she came aboard the Raza, the memory hasn't come back to her yet. She doesn't even know if they still celebrate it on Earth back home in the 27th century.
But she's celebrating it now. If only because she's here, and why the hell not? She's still missing her friends from the Raza a lot, but she's making the most of what she can here, and hoping that some day (sooner rather than later would be preferable) her friends will find her.
For now, she's got a hand full of sparklers she's just lit and is smiling brightly as she waves them around. She's got on some heart-shaped goggles to protect her eyes, like she does when she's working with electricity.
"These are so cool," she says to whoever is nearby, right before the main fireworks show begins with, literally, a boom. Her eyes go wide, she pulls the goggles off to see better. She's in awe. "Woah."

Aftermath - Spa Day
Luisa Madrigal | Encanto | OTA
[ While the storms are much heavier than any ones from back home (even during the worst of Pepa's moods), Luisa still helps Casita prepare for the worst of the storms. It's mostly making sure to clear the immediate area of anything that might fall on Casita, since the magical house takes care of the rest of it. After storms pass, Luisa helps the house clean up any of the debris that flew in from the winds.
After making sure that Casita is fixed and cleaned up, Luisa also heads out into the city and takes up any jobs that need help repairing damage or cleaning up after the storms. Despite the stifling weather, she still works hard to clear away heavy debris and fix up whatever damage she's able to. ]
II. El Nido (07/11 onward)
[ Luisa arrives a little late to the realm, thanks to her contract pricing and falling asleep for three days. But after waking up on the following Monday and hearing about the announcement, she heads through the gate and to the beach resort.
And it's...nice. It reminds her of the spa vacation their family took a few months ago, and yet even more somehow. Even just lying out on a blanket on the beach feels great, and Luisa takes whatever opportunity she can just to soak the sun and relax, occasionally cooling off with a swim in the ocean.
Overall, she's having a pretty great time. ]
III. A Pirate Adventure
[ After hearing some of the rumors, Luisa hadn't really planned on even looking for the pirate ship, content to just stay at the bird's resort. But after learning that some people she knew were heading that way, she couldn't help following to make sure people were okay. And somehow, she ends up swept onto the ship as it sails off to sea. ]
A. On the Ship
[ Luisa hasn't actually ever been on a boat in her life, so it takes a while to adjust. Once she does, though, she tries to keep busy by doing chores around the ship and checking on anyone she recognizes. ]
Hey...doing all right?
B. Sirens
[ Luisa never gave much thought to being attracted to people. She's definitely learned a lot about different relationships and sexualities after in the city, but for the most part she'd always just assumed she'd stay single, or she'd maybe someday marry a man that possibly her parents or Abuela would arrange for her. Despite knowing of the possibility, it never quite occurred to her that she might be attracted to women...or maybe even both men and women.
As they start exploring the beach of the island, the faint sound of singing eventually reaches Luisa's ears, and she pauses a moment. ]
Do you hear that? It's...beautiful.
C. Kraken
[ When the kraken appears, Luisa can't help having a familiar sense of dread, similar to how she feels every time she thinks of dragons. She manages to push it aside enough to try to fight the creature's tentacles as they make their way around the ship, trying to give others time to get to the lifeboats.
When the ship snaps in half, though, she quickly jumps ship and dives into the ocean, trying to find something to keep her afloat while still getting as far away from the kraken as it drags the ship under the ocean's surface. ]
D. Stranded
[ Landing on the island certainly is lucky, but there's still a lot that needs to be done. Taking a little while to try and recuperate, Luisa then looks for people she knows, once again checking on them and making sure everyone's okay.
As they head further into the island, Luisa makes note of anything that can be useful, looking for any kind of food or water sources. Once they need to settle down, she helps get a campsite set up as well as some shelter in case they need it. ]

[ Most people would find the heat and humidity pretty unbearable, but if anyone manages to be out and about they'd find Moana looking quite cheerful as she makes her way around. Somehow she seems to be enjoying the wretched weather, which probably might make things even more annoying as she greets anyone she recognizes with a bright smile and a wave. ]
Hey! How's it going?
II. El Nido
Oh yeah! This is what I'm talking about!
[ After hearing about the gate leading to the new realm, Moana absolutely was not about to miss it. ]
Man, I was thinking of throwing a beach party anyway, but this is even even better than I imagined! Definitely less crowded around here.
[ She spends most of her time at the beach, of course. She'd brought her surfing gear just in case, and she was glad that she did. Finding the nearest friend she knows, she eagerly tries to get them to head out into the ocean with her. ]
Come on, it'll be fun! We can go surfing, or just go swimming if you want. But we have to try out the water.
III. A Pirate Adventure
[ While Moana was a little cautious after hearing the rumors, especially that most people who sail away don't seem to return, she can't help being a bit intrigued once she hears about a pirate ship.
It couldn't hurt to investigate, right? ]
A. On the Ship
[ Anyone who manages to catch sight of Moana on the ship would see her mostly high up on either one of the masts, tightening the sails and even swinging around to get to the next mast. In fact, she seems very comfortable on the ship, almost like she was an actual part of the crew.
Swinging down from the mast, she deftly lands on the deck with a grin as she tosses back some of her hair while rising to her full height. ]
This is actually kind of cool, huh? I mean, aside from the "being stuck on a pirate ship and not sure how we'll be getting home" part.
B. Sirens
[ Moana isn't all too impressed with the island they arrive at, honestly. She's actually about to head back to the ship when a sudden song reaches her ears, and she sucks in a breath. ]
...Whoa...what is that?
[ Her eyes grow a bit cloudy, unfocused, as she starts heading in the direction of the song. ]
C. Kraken
[ When the kraken first attacks, Moana does her best to help as many people as she can to the lifeboats. But when the ship breaks, she reaches out with the ocean to catch anyone who falls, doing her best control the water to help them onto any nearby boats.
Then she dives into the water herself, and she doesn't even think about it as her form suddenly changes; her skin is suddenly covered with scales, with fins along her arms and legs, and a tail helping her propel through the water. She keeps an eye out for anyone still in the water to help them either swim to either the closest boat or any land that they can find. ]

A
[Luz had been on a ship before, and had lent a hand as much as she could, but watching Moana? It was as if she'd done this all of her life. What was more, she just looked so assured, Luz couldn't help but admire her confidence].
Is there a yacht club in your school? Or do you just sail in your spare time?

Zelos Wilder | Tales of Symphonia | OTA
[The upside of having a reduced sense of feeling is that you don't feel the humid heat as much. Unfortunately, that doesn't really stop his hair from feeling the humidity. Having such long and thick hair like his is a nightmare in such humid weather.
And that's why if you're in a local CVS, you might happen upon Zelos in the shampoo aisle, his hair being barely contained by a meticulous braid. What is he doing there? Well he's looking over every bottle of shampoo to see if they help against humidity. There's a shopping basket with him, which is already full of several bottles.
Look desperate times man, desperate times]
II. Beach Time
[Zelos always loved the beach, so of course he's going to go on a beach vacation! He packs his bag and immediately makes himself comfortable on the beach. Very, very comfortable considering he's wearing a speedo without a care in the world. If you can look past the speedo (it's hard I know), he's wearing a rock pendant and has a crystal attached to his chest. There's also a single scar from you know, a certain May incident. No bigee.
You can find him all over the beach, doing stuff from sunbathing to checking out girls (and some guys) to some swimming- you might even get him to play some rounds of volleyball. Seems like he's determined to make the most of his vacation and completely try not to think about anything else, no siree.]
Wildcard
[Got another prompt for me? Hit me up! Zelos will be mostly staying on the beach this month, no pirate adventure for him]

Cassandra | OTA
[Things have settled somewhat in Cassandra's life. She found an apartment to stay in this strange, strange city. The general panic of being in a new place has been replaced with an annoying sort of monotony as the blue-haired woman adjusted to her new life.
But then the days turn hotter, and hotter.
Cass is no stranger to warm summers, being a kingdom on the sea, Corona commonly had humid summers but... maybe it's the fact that this is a brand new world. Or maybe it had something to do with the armor of black rock she continued to wear whenever she ventured out into the city. The armor is imposing, yes, and impervious to most attacks. But as Cassandra's come to learn, it is not designed for this extended weather.
Out wandering through the streets, looking for things to do, she finally has to brace herself against a stone wall, tugging uselessly at her black cloak - God, why did she have to bring that?
With a huff, she sinks to the ground, wiping the sweat from her brow and trying to think through the haze of heat to where her next move would be. It's harder than it looks.
And, of course, there's the whole sitting on a sidewalk thing. There's going to be passerby, and odd looks. Not really doing her mood any favors.]
Oh, what?
[B: Freedom and Fireworks]
[And here Cassandra thought she had already seen enough of this city's festivities.
The whole town was just done up in those vibrant rainbow colors before the months shifted and everything suddenly changed to reds and blues and whites. The scent of food wafts from every street. Explosive noise echoes throughout Kaisou into every evening.
Cassandra didn't think she'd be... enjoying it.
At least in her own way. Like when the chili competition breaks out into a fist fight, over beans or something, and Cassandra's settled somewhere off to the side. A bowl in her hand. She quietly laughs.
But the biggest shock comes in the form of the main event: the fireworks. She overhears enough locals talking about how excited they are for it, so eventually, she drifts the same way everyone else is going.
On a grassy hill in one of Kaisou's parks, a blue-haired woman sits and watches with visible awe at the kaleidoscope of colors bursting in the sky and raining down upon the cheering crowd. It's enough to bring a shimmering glow to the stone glittering just beneath her shirt.]
Whoa.
[C: That was a pirate adventure]
[The pirate ship so many people cautioned about has finally pulled into port after its week-long voyage. And Cassandra steps off of it.
Maybe not 'steps'. 'Drags' herself is a more apt description. She's tired, and hot, and angry. Where there's bare skin, not covered by black rock, there's little cuts and bruises from run-ins with monstrous creatures and ghost pirates.]
Never...
[She starts, quietly, mustering herself.]
Never again.
[With a huff, she marches down the dock. She slides her broadsword back into its sheath on her back.]
Hey. [She calls, to you.] What direction do I have to walk in to find those "hot tub" things?
B; Fireworks
It makes her heart ache a bit, too. It's really starting to settle in just how much she misses her parents, Eugene, Lance and all the others... it makes her long for those simpler days, before she set out on the journey that changed her life in so many ways.
... Maybe.... don't think about that for now. She came here to enjoy herself, after all. So when she hears that soft exclamation close by, Rapunzel chuckles and turns towards the voice.]
It's amazing, isn't it? I wonder how they do it!
[There's a pause, and when another firework goes off, the light cuts through the dark of the night and lights up the other woman's face - a very familiar face.]

Souta Suzukaze | Otogi Juushi Akazukin | OTA
[Summer storms might be good for some plants, but they can be a challenge for gardeners to manage. Not all flowers like the heat or excess water after all, as Souta has quickly learned. He tries his best to keep his plants happy. Some are moved to shadier spots on the balcony, others to sunny areas. As the weather gets hotter, the pansy gets brought inside to keep it cooler. It's difficult to keep up, but Souta gladly does what he can to make their lives more comfortable.]
[However, he's not at the apartment 24/7. Souta was just in the middle of picking up dinner from a local restaurant when suddenly another downpour begins. Oh, his plants!]
This is bad!
[Handing over his change, he tries to hurry off into the rain. Maybe offer him an umbrella or something?]
El Nido
[How nice to relax for once. While everyone has warned him to be cautious about the Spirit Realms, they at least seem to have a firm idea of where the danger is this time. He can avoid it.]
[...Though he also can't accidentally wander into danger anymore. As nice as the thought is, Souta has mixed feelings about that Zodiac announcement. Ones that he is keeping to himself.]
[In the meantime, he is enjoying the impromptu beach vacation. Most days Souta can be seen relaxing on the beach, often with a book in hand. Sometimes he is in the hot tub instead, hunting for sea shells, or hiking the trails. But one thing he does every day: find new flowers.]
[Not far from the resort, he gently cups a delicate orchid-like flower.]
Aren't they beautiful? [Is he talking to you? Or the other plants.]
(Not) a Pirate Adventure
[It's hard to miss the huge pirate ship. Souta hadn't gone near, too worried that it would concern others. Once it leaves though, he can't stop thinking about those on board. A few days later, he walks the shore as the sun sets. He keeps looking to the horizon as the waves lap as his feet, hoping to see those sails.]
Do you think they'll be alright?
Alberto Scorfano | Pixar's Luca | ota; because time isn't real... 🙃
[ The thunderstorms are bad news for Alberto. He's been out and about a lot lately despite the heat — well, because of the heat. He's trying to hustle up some extra money, and had the clever idea of selling normal, cheap, plastic water bottles for $1 each to people on the streets, shlepping around a rolling cooler with bottles on ice. There's a hand-drawn sign on the cooler advertising what the money's going toward: a Vespa and a telescope. He's actually making a killing, working his "cute kid" charm while he still can. Find him anywhere crowds gather in town on most any afternoon, offering water bottles to passerby. Maybe your character wants to contribute to this fund, while staying hydrated and refreshed? Some might notice he holds the bottles with a towel to avoid getting getting his hands wet.
But he can't avoid getting wet when the skies open up. He's terrified the first time he hears the siren, but not knowing what it means, Alberto doesn't head home right away, so he ends up trapped under an awning of some store during an afternoon rainstorm. He thankfully always carries an umbrella with him, but he's wearing shorts and sandals and a tank top — in this rain, with this wind, that's not gonna cut it. Find him sitting on his cooler under the awning, towel around his shoulders, his umbrella open and held between his knees to protect his bare legs. He looks miserable, just watching the rain fall. He'll jump in his seat if someone gets stuck hiding from the rain with him, clearly made nervous by the storm, casting wary eyes their way until they say something first. ]
b. beach episode
[ The beach resort is a welcome reprieve from the rain, and puts Alberto squarely in his own element. It's far more luxurious than any beach he's ever been to, for that matter; his own beach back home had rocks, not soft white sands, and a dilapidated lighthouse instead of a fancy hotel with room service. He takes full advantage of every activity, volleyball, hiking and climbing trees, building sandcastles, searching for seashells, anything and everything; he even takes to the sea, but only when the coast is fairly clear. He's trying to loosen up a little lately about exposing himself as a sea monster, and being amongst the bird people and seeing how respectful the humans have been to them is encouraging and relieving. But he's not about to go swimming at noon in front of everyone, just in case. Anyone snorkeling around the coral reefs at dawn might notice a strange sea creature swimming nearby, inspecting all the fish and coral up close.
Unsurprisingly, back on land, Alberto goes ham at the amusement park on the pier. He got kicked off the ferris wheel for rocking the cart his first day. But once he discovered roller coasters, he became addicted; that is, until all the copious carnival food he'd devoured prior suddenly ended the fun. So after eating and rollercoaster-ing himself sick, he's temporarily resigned to playing carnival games. He's spending way too much money out of spite, stubbornly trying to win rigged games. Finally, though, he happens to win an extra-long Long Furby... which he'll carry with him everywhere now. ]
c. pirate adventure
[ Alberto can't resist the curiosity of the pirate ship, though, and begged his chaperon to escort him on board, just to look around "really quick." He's never seen such a ship; he's a fisherman who's literally from the sea — he's basically obligated to check it out! However, of course, like many things Alberto does, it was a huge mistake. Trapped at sea. On a boat full of humans. This is gonna go swimmingly... Throughout the voyage, he sticks with trusted friends, or else keeps to himself, but he's certainly jumpier than usual; on smooth waters, he's often found on deck alone, staring overboard, captivated watching the waves. But the moment the waters get choppy? He's never on deck, it seems. He mostly keeps a low profile — that is, except for the Long Furby he drags around; because of course the furby made it on the pirate ship...
Alberto and the Long Furby both mostly manage to stay safe and dry until the kraken attacks. Amidst the chaos, he sees his best friend Luca get splashed and transform into a sea monster, then promptly dive overboard; but before Alberto can make it across deck to chase after him, the kraken has the ship in its grips, and he's thrust into the water. He tried to
yell at itspeak to it but whether he was understood or not, it whipped a tentacle at him. Separated from Luca, he makes a break for it with everyone else. As much as he wants to still avoid detection, though kind of a moot point now, he doesn't hesitate to help anyone near drowning after the shipwreck. Those who struggle to swim will be rushed by a purple fish person...? But he's in fact quite good and decisive in helping people get their bearings in the water; he was a lifeguard back home, after all! He'll stick with them even after they get to shore, checking on them with webbed hands placed on their back gingerly. ]Hey, hey... Breathe. We made it. Hah. ...You okay?
[ It's a softer side than Alberto usually shows, his tone far more tempered, not even bothering to dry off right away. He figures, hey, if he just helped this human, pretty unlikely they'll murder him now, right? Right.
The most tragic loss of this wild journey, though, is the Long Furby now left to rot somewhere at the bottom of the ocean. RIP. ]
