[Varian's been spending the vast majority of his time working on his portal to get them the heck home. He doesn't know if that would fix the...time discrepancies between him and Cass and Rapunzel- or if Cass would even choose to go back to Corona in the state she's in right now - but he's going to darn well try!!!

He does, occasionally, get brought from his work (read: dragged by someone else) out to enjoy the festivities. While he feels the breaks are more a distraction than anything else, he guesses the fireworks are pretty neat. When he finds Cass, the approaches with caution- as fine as things are between them back home, that's not quite the case here, he knows. But still, she seems to be enjoying the fireworks and Varian sees this as a perfect time to deposit some Science Facts.]

They're really cool, huh? They're filled with potassium nitrate which is what propels them into the air and there's more potassium nitrate in a second container filled with metal salts and iron filings which makes the different colours when it explodes. Like that one there has lithium in it, that's what makes it red.
