I understand why you wouldn't want to jump into a fight like this: your gift doesn't give you any powers, and if you just try to fight without any skill, you'd be killed. But that isn't exactly the same for me, and even if there are fighters, I'd still want to help, because there's no guarantee they'll win, or that someone won't get killed if we could have prevented it."

That was, unfortunately, the burden of someone who DID have the ability to help: you knew that you could lighten the load and lend a hand in case things got very bad, which they could at any given moment.
