No, but I'm also a grown ass adult. This kid was like. Twelve. Maybe thirteen.

How did the filter get set up? Like, was it a Libra-made filter or...?

I'm not sure how exactly. Mirabel made it to be filtered to "possessed people only".

She doesn't know anything about my past or even my powers, she just knows me as a coffee shop employee who likes anime. She shouldn't have reason to suspect me. And from the sound of the conversations she was having, it didn't seem like she was that familiar with some of the respondents.

...At least, not well enough for them to share something personal like that.

[Because yeah, he's been around enough possessed people to know they just don't tell anyone about what they are]

And Mirabel probably wouldn't know how to make a filter like that, anyway. Not if she doesn't know the people.

I'll be honest--the only person I know who's possessed is apparently Mirabel. I have no idea what possessed people are supposed to be like. Like, what are the signs?

They're not obvious. A possessed person will have stronger abilities than average people, with the power scaling based on what is possessing them. Sometimes when they have strong emotions, things will break around them.

And finally, there's the contract price. Every possessed person must fulfill a price set by the being that possesses them. What the price is will vary from person to person, of course.

And, let's be real, you do sorta fit that first point. Then again, I fit that first point, and I sure as hell ain't possessed.

Do things break around you when you're emotional?

[Yeah but you're like part demon August so that doesn't exactly help]

I...don't know. [He shrugs a little] I don't really get as emotional as you or Dad do, so I can't really say.

[It's not a brag or an insult. He knows he's never really been as in touch with his emotions as the other two. ]

[He wasn't going to say that, but...yeah, Jun's never really been emotional like that.]

And you absolutely have no...price? Like, is that a compulsion or actual money or...?

...Sometimes, but not always. Like I said, it varies. For some, it might be as simple as eating large amounts of food. Or it could mean you cannot tell lies, or you must perform a certain action regularly.

I haven't had anything like a compulsion yet. But.. [He bites his lip] Last month at the soccer match, my powers wouldn't work when I tried to teleport one of the losing team out.

I mean, weren't you guys up against a god or something close to it? That would make sense. Something able to kill people and then bring them back to life could totally fuck with your powers.

No, it wasn't Xilbalba's doing.

The seal on my arm shocked me when it happened. Like it was Someone Else interfering.

...how long have you had that seal, again?

Since January.

[Not too long after the app stuff all started]

...do you think that past you or alternate universe you was possessed?

I don't have the evidence to rule it out.

Is there way we can test this?

Not really. The only way I know of would be suicidal, considering who we could be dealing with here.
