[When the video begins, those who have visited Caista will recognize the place where Julieta reigns supreme: the kitchen. That is not what is strange.

No, what is strange is the very beautiful but actually MASSIVE osprey hawk angrily pecking at the phone or attempting to claw it with her talons. The osprey flaps all five feet of her wingspan and screeches and chirps. Those who actually understand animals fluently may come to realize that the hawk is not only speaking in Spanish but, more precisely, swearing in Spanish. The words she uses are enough to make a sailor blush.

What the cherry on this stranger than strange sundae is, is that Julieta is nowhere to be seen as this large bird of prey keeps pecking away at HER phone using HER username.]

[ Luisa frowns deeply, and reaches up with her free hand to stroke through some of her mother's feathers. She wants so badly to help, but she isn't sure there's really much she can do right now. ]

...you know, Mamá...when Mira first got, uh, cursed with her wolf form? She was stuck that way for a little while, but she learned to control it eventually, and now she can change back and forth at will. So maybe you can do that too.

[ And she knows it's not much of a comfort. But at the moment, it's all she's got. ]

[If she could be honest, she didn't want another gift... or curse. But it seems she doesn't get a say... Again. So... she supposes she must learn to control it. There is no other choice. She cannot turn into a bird in the middle of helping a guest at the restaurant or visiting the high school for a concert. She takes a deep breath.

Alright, calm down. This all happened because she was crying. So... she has to calm down. She can't get emotional... lovely. Pepa says clear skies... alright... so... clear head, clear head.

There's no pop or puff of smoke or any pain. One minute, Julieta is a bird, the next? She's back to being a woman.]

[ Luisa can't help jumping just a bit at the sudden reappearance of her mother. She figured that her mother would be able to figure out how to control it, but she hadn't expected it quite so soon.

Still she smiles and wraps Julieta in a big hug. ] Oh, Mamá! You did it!

Ah! [She doesn't know how that even worked, but here she is, she touches her hair, her face, her shoulders, and hips. She doesn't feel any feathers or talons or... she touches her nose. No, no beak. She hugs her daughter back tightly.]

Not without your help, mi vida.

[ She laughs just a bit, pulling back just a bit from the hug to look her mother over, just to make sure she was fully back to normal. At least for now. ]

I didn't do all that much, Mamá. It was mostly you.

[She shook her head, pushing some of Luisa's hair from her face.] No, mija, without your support, without your presence, I'd still be a bird. I was a bird for much longer than the video.

[ That has Luisa frowning a bit, a worried expression on her face. ] Do you know how long you were a bird?

[She moves over to her stew cooking over the small flame and stirred it, pulling out a piece of meat and tearing it open, it was mostly cooked all the way through with only a little of pink in the middle.]

At least an hour and a half since this isn't falling apart like it should be. [She popped it into her mouth and then sipped the broth.] The broth is still rather flavorless too.

[ Luisa draws up a little bit, and for a moment she isn't really sure what to say. She doesn't think Julieta means it this way, but her tone suddenly sounds oddly...dismissive?

It's...strange, hearing it coming from her mother. ]

...Mamá?

[She never meant it to be dismissive, her mind is churning, trying to narrow down everything that could have caused the problem and so her mind is in two places. She looks away from the stew and over to Luisa, smiling at her daughter.]

Yes, mijita?

[ Luisa still can't help feeling a bit worried. Not only about the situation in general, but...she's worried about how Julieta is feeling, what she's thinking, because she doesn't actually know. She can only guess that her mother is worried and upset about having suddenly been turned into a bird, but she doesn't seem to be showing any of it, and maybe is trying not to?

How much did she actually know what was going on in her mother's head? ]
