[Hunter's words...they make him tense up, and his stomach twists more. Well intended as they are, it reminds him so much of the things Krusnik would tell him. The praise they'd give him when he succeeded one of their trial, soft words meant to soften the blows they just inflicted on him. ]

[He confesses quietly, as much as he loathes saying it. It's so easy to stick to the simple narrative: Krusnik was bad and his Dad saved him. It was a simple story, one that sounded almost like one of those fairy tales Jun was so fond of. It leaves out the messier bits. Like the fact Abel had been there to kill everyone in revenge and only came upon Jun by chance, or that Jun fought being taken away and it was months before he started to see it as a good thing. ]

Back when I let myself believe in their lies...I remember feeling proud. [He swallows, the detachment in his tone cracking]

Now? When I think back ... I just feel empty.

[It's the only way he can describe it. There was an indescribable pain when he tried to look back on his past, back of these things. So he didn't. He repressed, he tried to forget. It's all he could do.

A better person would try to remember the other victims, he's sure. They'd devote their life to trying to right this wrong. But he couldn't even bring himself to face it in his own memories.]
