It's both! Humans normally have two names. One to mark them as an individual, and one to indicate which family they come from.

Rider huh? [Very...straightforward] Yeah, Rider probably had another name but just liked going by one name. Like my full name's Zelos Wilder, but most of the time I just use Zelos. It's more casual!
