Video: UN: BRUNO
WHO: Bruno and you
WHERE: Casita
WHEN: 24th April
WHAT: Ratas y noches apasionadas - episode two!!!
WARNINGS: Ratty drama!!!
I hope you're all ready for a thrilling new episode of ratas y noches apasionadas. I figured we might be able to have a good time before something inevitably tries to kill us again!
[Perhaps some of you might remember the last time, Bruno graced the network with his little telenovela. Even if you didn't, he's made sure there's a link to the page that he runs to help the new and uninformed. This episode definitely has a bit more to it than the first- there are little touches from his family in it now- a title card, some music, even a few different voices added to the experience. The rats are still rats though, and mostly just do ratty things in front of the camera.
Finding good actors is so hard.]
The episode opens on the Rojas estate- it's later now, and there's music playing in the background- lots of the rats are sitting out, occasionally a hand shifts onscreen to move them like they're dancing, before vanishing again. In one corner, Camilo's chef rat can be seen making a salad- his own little cameo. The screen focuses on Joaquin, as he follows behind an older black and white rat.
"But Papá, what do you mean you can't be sure if this- this interloper isn't my real brother? I am your only child! You always said that!!
"Honestly? At the time, I thought that was the case," Joaquin's father sighs. "But when I was your age, I was just like you. Wild and unfettered. I met a lot of young, lovely rats - it's...quite possible, and the story Miguel told me does match up with a lady rat I met once. I...am sorry son, he might well be mine. And while we don't know for sure, it's only fair that he stays here while I try and straighten this out. I cannot let the good name of the Rojas family be dragged through the mud with a scandal right now. I have a charity to help the children- if a scandal break, they might lose the funding for their new playground."
"The CHILDREN?!" Joaquin gasps. "I'M your children! Do I not matter?!!!"
"Son, one day, I hope you learn the lesson it took me a lifetime to learn- there are more important rats in this world than just yourself. I love you, mi hijo, and this does not mean I love you any less. We'll figure this out. Now...go enjoy your party- your guests will be wondering where you are."
The camera focuses on Joaquin's face for a moment, a dramatic duuuuuuuuuuun noise coming from somewhere in the background before it moves to where the rats have gathered in the party again. Daniella, Lorenzo and Sofia are sitting together, chewing on some salad made by the president chef cameo. Lorenzo seems to be trying to edge a little closer to Daniella.
"So-um, are you enjoying the party, Daniella?" he asks nervously. "The food is good, right? And the music is... ... music-y."
"Music-y?" Sofia snorts at her twin brother, then lowers her voice. "That's as good as you've got? You need to be better than that, hermano, if you're trying to sweep her off her feet."
Lorenzo makes a raspberry-blowing sound at his sister as Daniella giggles softly.
"I DO like the music-y music, Lorenzo, and the party is...nice, I guess," she scratches her ear. "Though I feel like I should be working- I don't mind the party, but I feel like I would be doing better studying than this."
"Oh, come on, Daniella!" exclaims Sofia. "If you stayed at home, you would have missed out on all the gossip of this strange new brother that Joaquin has! Did you see him earlier? He's so tall! I saw him sneaking off into the bushes earlier with this pretty grey rat- sounds like a Rojas to me, right? All womanising and interested in his own needs."
"That's not fair, Sofia," says Lorenzo softly. "Señor Rojas is a good rat and Joaquin has always been a good friend to me. I think you should give them more credit than you-"
He's cut off by the sound of honking. Joaquin is sitting in one of the little rat-sized cars that have shown up around Kaisou - it seems Bruno flinched a family gatcha. Like you do. Joaquin is yelling as he drives erratically, barely missing partygoers.
"I'LL SHOW YOU A SCANDAL, PAPÁ! YOU'LL ALL SEE A SCANDAL NOW!!!"
Inevitably, he loses control of the car as it swerves towards the pool- headed right for Daniella. In true stunt double fashion, the real Daniella is not in danger- a crocheted rat to look like her in her little bee costume has replaced her -as has a similar crocheted rat for Joquin inside the car after a sneaky little star-swipe video effect. The car clips her as it careens into the pool, pushing her into the water with it. Gasps come from the crowd as they see her vanish into the water.
"DANIELLA!!!" yells Lorenzo dramatically as the screen cuts to black and Bruno's voice comes back over the audio.
OH NO! Is this the end for Daniella and Joaquin already? Is the good Rojas name now ruined through Joaquin's reckless antics? And who was the secret rat Miguel was speaking to? What will happen next?!! Tune in next time for the next episode of ratas y noches apasionadas.

[Interesting is a weird way to put this, but okay Bruno.]

... She's going to be okay though, right?
[YOU'RE NOT GONNA KILL OFF HER FAVORITE CHARACTER TWO EPISODES IN RIGHT...]

Daniella!! She'll be alright, right? It's only the second episode so surely...
[Unless, what if that's what Bruno WANTS them to think!!! Excuse Jun, he's clearly super invested in this]
no subject
i guess you're gonna have to wait and see. dramatic, right? and here she is, our hero already in MORTAL PERIL
no subject
It's very dramatic! I want to believe a main character wouldn't be killed off this early, but some shows like to have a fake out protagonist to catch audiences by surprise....
no subject
i see you're a connoisseur of these kinds of shows! i guess i'm gonna have to be more sneaky to make sure I keep you on your toes.

[ Not that she's seen a lot of soap operas, but her point still stands. ]
It helps that the cast is played by such adorable actors.

[He's so proud of this cheesy, stupid story.]
Right? They're so good at their jobs too! They take direction really well.

[He loves how many people are getting stupidly invested in this rat drama.]
Don't worry, there'll be a nice episode out before you know it.

You're gonna have to wait and see. I take it you're enjoying the story?

She nods enthusiastically. ] ¡Sí! When I heard you were doing a show for everyone, I got really excited. I just wish I could have seen the first episode.

And I thought some of the serials back home were dramatic.

Well, it's pretty dramatic here, right? Gotta up the levels of drama or people are just gonna get bored.
