[Back during the previous August, the formal invitation Shio had received had been briefly acknowledged and then tucked away-- more than a visit to a bathhouse, what Shio and Kuni had needed after the previous month was tackling the various Dungeon Gates to let off steam.

Con months, man.

He'd held onto it, though, and during some of the recent... adventures in cleaning, Boosanali had found it and brought it to him. Given how Kuni had been showing signs of going stir-crazy this far into the month and how Shio himself was starting to feel it... Yeah, okay, maybe they both needed this. That night, one motorcycle ride out to the tunnel, actually going through the tunnel, and one ride on the riverboat later and here they are among the stalls in the fairgrounds area.]

... Maybe getting some food before we head into the bathhouse wouldn't be a bad idea.

[Apparently his Bangboo has opinions on how Kuni stores his belongings. Just like her namesake.]

I'm pretty sure we can get something to eat there, but you're not wrong. I'm craving something, anyway.

[Also, pay no attention to how one of his wings is almost-but-not-quite draped around you, Kuni.]

Hmm... there's meat skewers from that stall over there, there's okonomiyaki... I think that imagawayaki stand has some savory options.

Meat skewers. Easier to eat while walking.

[The wing is comforting, he is not complaining.]

And they smell amazing.

Meat skewers it is, then.

[Maybe they can get some of the other options later. He'll be sure to have his bag at the ready as they make their way over.

He looks over at the selection--man, he's used to these sorts of stands mostly selling yakitori, but there's actually a pretty good selection here. The yakitori is one of the most prominent offerings, but so is the pork. He'll let Kuni order first, he needs to get at least one of the jewels from Hyrule out of his bag.]

[He's just going to get yakitori. He knows what he's about. Also he is part-cat.]

Yakitori or the pork, Shio?

I'll get the pork.

[Between the two of them, Shio's in favor of making sure they have variety if they want it.

He'll get those paid for, then zip his bag back up.]

[Nothing else in the area appeals to Kuni right now, so he just focuses on meat skewers for now and lets Shio lead the way.]

Still can't believe this place exists and we haven't been here yet. Especially after Con Hell.

I think after Con Hell, we were a little more focused on beating the shit out of things.

[After some of the customers they got, man.]

I kind of forgot about the invitations we'd gotten after I'd put mine away, to tell you the truth.

We need to get Boosanali the good batteries for all the organizing she's doing and making us do, huh?

Seriously.

[They're done with the skewers by the time they get to the bathhouse proper. Once inside, getting a private room for the two of them is an easy choice.

Shio's switched to the wolf ears and tail of his hellhound form by the time he's easing himself into the bath.]

Holy shit.

[Kuni looks over from where he's brushing his hair before getting in the bath.]

Is that a good holy shit or a bad holy shit?

[reignitions]

[Kuni gets to see how Shio's practically gone boneless in the bath already, then.]

Very much a good holy shit.

[threebetrayals]

[He very quickly finishes his hair so he can join Shio in the water.

He promptly starts to purr, which spooks him and he nearly jumps back out of the water.]

[And that startles Shio a little.]

... Goddamn faeries?

[threebetrayals]

Goddamn faeries...

[Grumbling as he settles into the water.]

They could have cut me some slack, you know?

[reignitions]

[Shio settles in, just a bit closer.]

Hah, you think so?

[He lets out a soft sigh as he sinks into the water a bit more.]

Yes, I do.

[Hmph. But he settles down some more, tail popping out and lashing in mild annoyance.]

...these springs are really good, though. We should come out here more.

[reignitions]

I'm not sure they're even capable of something like that, frankly.

[Can't use expired coupons? Curse. Tarot reading they didn't like? Curse. Got looked at funny? You bet your fucking ass that's a curse.]

We should. I might even try one of their spa treatments one of these days. But these private baths are nice. Especially since we're getting a meal later.

And one we don't have to cook. All the more reason to come here more.

[They cook. So often. For obvious reasons but still.]

I'll let you try the spa treatments, though. No one's touching me, thanks.

More excuses to try stuff from the stalls at the fairgrounds, too. I'm still thinking about how good the okonomiyaki looked.

[But yeah, if they can cook a little less often, that'd be nice.]

Not unless I'm helping with your fur? They did give us stuff for that sort of thing since we got a private room.

With all due respect, Shio, you don't count as "people". You're like Tsuki or Jon in that way.

[He's pretty sure that makes sense.]

[reignitions]

[That just earns a laugh. The comparison to Ragna and Jon helps.]

Fair, fair.

[He sinks down into the water a bit more with a content sigh.]

[They soak for a while, and then Shio gets out. Kuni knows he should get out, but something about the water is just so comfortable and comforting that he just. Really can't bring himself to move? He's doing the cat thing of being dead liquid wet but in the water, slumped over the edge of the bath.]

This is heaven...

[Shio, mostly dried off by now, goes back over to the edge of the bath and chuckles a bit.]

Hey, don't stay in there so long that you'll overheat.

[threebetrayals]

But consider: I am comfortable now.

[reignitions]

Counterpoint: you'll be feeling light-headed and nauseous if you're in there too long.

[threebetrayals]

[He huffs, very much like a cat who has been moved from his sunbeam, and starts to get out.]

Stop being right. It's rude.

[reignitions]

[He just chuckles, reaching out to help Kuni get out.]

There's cool drinks waiting for us and I can help you with taking care of your fur.

Alright alright....

[He will take the help getting out and also help with his fur.]

We do have snacks, but we can also get a meal delivered to the room.

[He'll sit down and motion for Kuni to join him, then he pulls the basket of supplies left for them closer.]
