February Aftermath Log

February Aftermath Log
Dominant Element: Fire
Waning Element: Wind
Full Moon: February 1st - 3rd
※
In the days after the mission, winter has slowly begun to wane. The days are slowly getting longer as the days get warmer. While there are still the occasional snowfalls, there are more warmer days than there are cold. It's a nice reprieve, after all you've been through this month-- a gentle, subtle reminder that spring isn't far away.
The HospitalWhile there was a triage tent with healers available during the rescue mission, some folks will require more medical aid than be provided. After the mission is wrapped up - these folks will be carted off to the Kaisou Central Hospital in Central Square. For the most part, it's an ordinary hospital meant to serve ordinary patients. However luckily, this particular hospital does have a paranormal ward that is designed to cater to folks of the paranormal persuasion. As such, characters will be able to get treated by doctors who have a better chance of understanding what magical issues you may have.
During their stay at the hospital, some patients will be lucky enough to get their own solo rooms. Otherwise, you might get paired up with one or more roommates that you got to share your time with. There's visiting hours where people are allowed to visit, as well as waiting areas, a hospital cafeteria, a gift shop, a chapel, and so on. Basically, it's a hospital and has all the things you'd expect to find in a hospital to make your healing process go as smoothly as feasibly possible. And even better, Zodiac has claimed they will cover your hospital bills- so rest, try to rest up, and try not to think about the Horrors you endured.
Afterparty MealsFor those who aren't bound for the hospital, you're probably ending this mission feeling completely famished! So why not take this opportunity to grab a few friends and head to the first restaurant that sounds good to you? If you're particularly lucky, some may even be still having Valentine's Day specials- so you can still get on the lovers holiday that you missed. Otherwise if you're not up for partying it up at Five Guys- then you can always head home or any other location in the city to rest and try to work past all the Horrors.
However for some of you? The work isn't finished. While all the people responsible for this atrocity have been slain, there's still work to be done in the tower's basement. A lot of the captives still have personal items down there that they'd probably appreciate being retrieved. There's also research files that need to continued to be collected. Finally, there's plenty of monsters still roaming the halls of this place. Someone should... probably take care of that, or at least make sure they don't come crawling up to the surface.
The dominant element this month is Fire! Anyone with an affinity to the Fire element will find themselves boosted throughout the month. This could mean a boost to their power, having more energy, feeling more inspired with creativity, having better luck on different attempts -- the boost can manifest in all sorts of different ways. By contrast, anyone with an affinity for Shadow will be experiencing the opposite. Perhaps their powers will be weaker, they have less energy, they're having a creative block or general worse luck - again it can manifest in all sorts of way and players are free to play with this mechanic as they'd like.
The original OOC plotting post for this event can be found here, and the original mission long can be found here. Please feel free to continue backtagging the mission log. This post is meant more for stuff that is going on in the following days and the rest of February!

Horse in the Hospital
It’s just a broken leg, I truly do not understand why I can’t go to my lab. There is too much work to be done to be trapped in bed.
[She did not do well being doted on and this was definitely pushing that even more.]

[Lycaon gently knocks at the door, his ears perked at hearing her words. Perhaps she was saying that every time someone showed up at the door. More likely than not because they were nurses tending to her.]
I apologize for the intrusion. My name is Lycaon, I'm the owner of the restaurant at the Vogue bar & theatre.
[He chuckles, nodding in respect to the Iron Valiant who seems to be tending to her.]/small> I will not take up too much of your time. I simply have made meals for all of the people who were victims of the recent events.]
Surely you can hold off your prison break for a meal?
[In one of his hands is a tray, balanced elegantly on his fingers with a plate, which seems to be covered in aluminum foil to keep the heat in. In the crook of his elbow is a plastic bag, likely for utensils and the like.]

Mockingbird Post-Mission "Job Well Done" and "Welcome Home Cheater" IHOP Outing
So. Why is this table full of a bunch of awkward 20-30 somethings sitting silently with their meal?
The table consists of Hugo, Vlad, Lighter, Maxima, Lia and Caleb. A sampler platter has been provided for free ever since Lycaon flashed his 'one free appetizer' coupon to the waitress (who checks the fine print and nods seeing Lighter is officially here, and that Hugo is his date).
Lycaon himself has ordered T-bone steak & eggs for his meal, with a side of toast and an extra cup of fruit, knowing full well Hugo will forget to order one himself. He's already putting it within eating distance of the vampire as his legs cross to the side of the table, folding his arms.
Aside from his own meal, there's pancakes of all kinds ordered just for anyone to take, as well as some appetizers that weren't free.
As for conversation. Well...silence sure is taking a seat at the table with them.]
So.
[His gaze turns to Lighter. Now that the mission had bee complete, it was time to address the Big Daddy in the room.]
[ooc: feel free to also be at this IHOP witnessing the awkward.]

[You ever just sit in place knowing the tension in the room could be cut with a dull fingernail and it's your own fault?
Lighter is just asking for a friend.
It wasn't weird for him getting free appetizers cause he accompanied someone else on a "date". But this didn't feel like watching Vash and Wolfwood (whose names he only remembered because they sound cool as heck) mess with each other. He felt like he was on trial.
... No, no being on trial wasn't as bad as this.
Part of him thought save me appetizer platter but a man wouldn't go back on his responsibility to explain himself. Explain why he left with barely a word to anyone. Especially those he made a promise to.
He took a deep breath.]
Pret-ty sure we're not just here because of the coupon. No.
I... owe all of you an explanation. And an apology. You don't need to accept it right away, and if you do I don't expect you to forgive me either.
[...]
The short version is... I didn't... know how to handle... having a "home".
... The long version is gonna take some time if you're willing to hear the whole thing.

As such, she's largely going to be checking out of the conversation to focus on the food. She calmly cuts into a customized omelette, as well as swiping a strip of bacon from one of the plates of sides she'd ordered for people to take from as they please.

A plate of pancakes made its way in front of him at some point, and he has no idea how. The fruit, at least, was something he saw that snow-white paw suggesting to him. Where it sat in his current recollection was anyone's guess. The surrounding conversations were somewhat observed. Lighter was receiving a talking to. Lia was shy about the business. Hugo was momentarily freaking out their waitress, his hand snaking out to grab her wrist as she passes with surprising coordination for a man that looks like he may be the walking dead, he says two words, three if you ass the 'please', and lets her go back around her business.
Then... he returns to cutting. Returns? At some point in his haze, he began to cut the pancakes up in to perfectly measurable squares, but not eat them. One pancake and then another, putting only enough pressure in the pancake under it to score where the cuts should be with perfect knife control. Even when he gets down to the plate, it doesn't make a sound. ]

Harumasa Asaba | Zenless Zone Zero | OTA
Fortunately, he doesn't need to be sedated, but it's a close call. Harumasa's able to calm down enough to let them do their job. Yet he's never relaxed. Not even with the people he thinks are safe. It's not until the staff decide to redecorate the room to make it look less like it's in a hospital that he starts to feel a little more at ease. They can't do anything that would compromise the other patients in the ward, but it's enough to make it feel a little more homey.
It's been a couple days of settling in for a long hospital stay. Despite his best efforts, Harumasa's starting to show obvious and visible signs of extremely poor sleep. He's just too wired to relax enough to get a more meaningful amount of sleep. Even with all the people he trusts around him, the archer just... can't. Harumasa's exhausted and it's a struggle to keep his weight from dropping. At this point, the only thing that seems to work is making sure he gets snacks throughout the day since he has no appetite for a meal.
It doesn't help that Apollo's quiet in his head. It's not unexpected, but it doesn't help his mental and emotional state. The Sun God has to pull back in that way so that Harumasa's body can properly heal. Still... it feels like torture.
Harumasa's currently going through one of the Sudoku books that Varian got him for his birthday. Anything to keep him from going into a panic attack. Again. However, when anyone comes to visit, he'll look up from the book and give a tired yet friendly smile.]
Hey. How's it going in the outside world?
[His tone clearly indicates that he's joking.]
no subject
You might be asking 'what about visiting hours?' Well. He'll use the same plan he did to get all-expenses-paid airline travel--by turning into a lantern and rest on the nightstand until the nurses walked out.
He refuses to let Harumasa and Jun feel alone. So he's taken to being their lap lantern for comfort when he's not visiting Lauma and the others. His flame is cool to the touch, like menthol as he sits happily, watching as the archer does his sudoku and crosswords.

Maybe it's a sign that he's learned and matured from last summer... but for those closer to him? It's easier to tell that more likely? He's just withdrawing into himself, and frequently getting lost in his thoughts whenever there isn't someone talking to him.
But even if he's been withdrawing into himself, he has noticed his brother's troubling behavior. The fact he's more prone to fight isn't as alarming (look who they are related to), but the lack of sleep is. This was Harumasa- if there was an olympic sport for sleeping, he'd be a gold medalist. And yet it was, eluding him to the point that it's showing.
So one late night, after most of the visitors have gone to bed or have fallen asleep, Jun will pull himself out of bed. He's still weak, but he's been healing. His eyesight is back in one eye, and his hair is slowly turning back to green. He has to put his weight on the IV stand more than he'd like, but he still manages to walk the distance to his brother's bed. Once there, he'll sit on the edge of the bedside. ]

(He's not fine, but he did spend some time in hospitals as a kid. He just knows there's no point in trying to escape.)

Jun Nightroad | Tokyo Xanadu | OTA
The last time he was here, after the Jumanji incident, he'd been a headache. He kept insisting that he didn't need it, that he didn't need to stay. He'd keep making escape attempts either from the bed or the hospital itself. At one point he even had to be restrained. All while shrugging off what would be an extremely serious wound to most people. But for him? It didn't matter, he knew he'd heal fine. He always healed fine.
This time? His behavior is different.
This time... he's quiet. He's still not happy to be here, but he doesn't fight it. He'll go through the check ups without an issue- or even a word really unless he's asked a question. The only time he kicks up what's close to a fuss is when someone tries to take him away from his brother or Varian, and even then it seems to be more like a scared animal reacting to a danger. After all... the bad things always happened in that lab when someone was taken out of the dorm, away from everyone else.
But overall... he's quiet. Or for the more observant? They might even say he seems... withdrawn. His eyes go colder, and his expression sterner. As if "Jun" seems to go away whenever the medical staff are present, leaving behind "Shroud" to do what needs to be done.
And it's clear it does need to be done, as his time in the hospital is clearly making him improve physically. His vision has begun to return, even if it's not completely back just yet. His hair color and eyes are also slowly returning to their original color. He's also acquired a rainbow armband made for him by Shio. It'll keep his powers from activating while he recovers, which is sorely needed at this point. The various healers did a good job of treating his injuries, with the remaining ones now bandaged up as they slowly heal the natural way. But it's the internal damage from all the divine energy he used, as well as the mess his own Spirit Energy has become, that's going to make his healing process a slow one.
At least, he seems more himself when friends approach him and make conversation, smiling and engaging with conversation as he can. He appreciates the company, even if he's prone to tiring out after awhile. But when he's left to his own devices... he's quiet. Sometimes he reads, or naps.. but often time? He'll just be silently staring out the window near his bed, lost in thought]

Something about being here at last seems to have put an extra emphasis on the ending of the ordeal: he thought he'd woken from the nightmare of that place when Asch arrived to get him, but that too had been a part of the story of it all that he'd built up in his mind. Weeks of anxiety, a few days of physical suffering, and then if he was lucky he'd see his son's face again at the end of it all.
Now it's after the end, and he's finding he doesn't quite know what to do with himself. His attention keeps wandering restlessly. He would rather get up and go home, even still injured as he is, but he knows how much doing that would upset Asch and he can't bear to upset his son any further right now. So he's waiting, trying not to think, not sure what to feel. Caught in limbo between suffering and return.
