Hello, everyone..!

[Ah, how does one actually start these things without feeling awkward? Dolores' expression works through a moment of nervousness before she clears her throat.]

I'm Dolores Madrigal. I think a lot of people already know some of my family. [Given the number of them, the clustered nature of their arrival, and their tendency to get involved in absolutely everything. Dolores tends to keep to herself and would not blame anyone for not having realised she was here too.]

I've been hearing someone playing music in the evenings, usually from nine to after midnight, and I wanted to tell them that they're very talented!

[Does it occur to her that being able to hear something like that when she lives in an detached building full of other people and near-constant commotion might be a bit odd? No... not at all.]

I'm not sure who they are, or how far away they are, only that it must be within a few miles. So maybe someone can help me figure it out?

[ Luisa considers that for a moment, because she knows it's definitely not her. Even if it's around the time she practices as well, her cousin would definitely be able to tell the difference between music being played in the house versus something farther away. Plus her own playing is still in the beginning steps, so it certainly wouldn't be all that good. ]

What kind of instrument is it?

[ Because now she's a bit curious as well. ]

Usually a violin, but sometimes a piano... and sometimes something else! But I'm sure it all comes from the same place. It must be more than one person, or someone who is very talented.

[She's inclined to think the latter, because the music all sounds not only as if it comes from the same place but also the same person.]

Wow, multiple instruments? [ She does know one person who can play more than one, but if there's a chance that it could be more than one person... ]

Do the instruments ever play together, or is it usually just one at a time? [ Because if it's always one at a time, it was likely the same person playing. ]

One at a time... sometimes with an accompaniment, but I can tell that's not being played by someone else.

[There's a difference and she can pick it up, even at a distance.]

It might not be one of us at all, but maybe someone will know who it is?

So it is just one person, then. [ She definitely trusts her cousin to know the difference. If anyone would, it's Dolores. ]

Hmm...maybe we could ask Señor Elliot? He teaches music at the high school, but he also gives private lessons to people. So maybe he might know something.

[ Of course, he likely wouldn't know everyone in the city who could play music. But if someone was multi-talented, maybe he'd have at least an idea. ]

[She looks through the other replies she's had, because it does ping in her memory that someone else had mentioned being a music teacher.]

Does he use the name 'ecraig'? [Dolores enunciates the handle carefully, strangely unsure about saying it wrong.] That person mentioned that they teach some of our family.

Yeah, that's him! He's Mirabel's music teacher, and likely Camilo's too. But he's also been giving me piano lessons.

[ Not that she was keeping it a secret or anything, but there isn't any point keeping it from Dolores anyway, since she's likely already heard. ]

He's really talented with music.

Wonderful! Then I'm already talking with him. He didn't seem to know but perhaps if I'm more specific...

[She could tell the direction of the music, and some of the types of instruments being used. Maybe if she gave more details?]

He offered to give me something to help with the noise here.

Oh, that's good! Even if he doesn't know exactly who it is himself, he still might be able to help you figure it out. He knows a lot about music.

Yeah? That's really nice of him. Did he say what it is?

Something called 'noise-cancelling earplugs'. Which... I suppose the name does speak for itself, no?

[She has an idea of what they are going to look like which isn't actually far from the reality. The name is rather descriptive.]

It would be nice to be able to go outside without getting a headache.

Noise-cancelling? I've never heard of that before, but yeah, it sounds like it'll help a lot. [ She hopes that they work as well as it sounds, because they would be perfect for her cousin if they do. ]
